✿ Hey beautiful! It’s Gina from orchidandopal.com. In today's tutorial I will show you how to create a beaded bezel around the gorgeous artisan L2Studio Hexagon Cabochons. The bezel consists of slender bugle beads, 15/0 seed beads, and 3mm bicone, fire polished and round beads. Preciosa crystal sew-on rhinestones are also incorporated directly into the beadwork to accentuate the unique hexagon shape, and beautiful glaze color.
All materials from this project come from the latest BeadingSchool Academy bi-monthly subscription box (@Beadingschool ), which is themed "Starry Night." Please see below for the list and links of the items that you will need:

Beautiful 😍
Thank you! :)
Super cool design! I choose my projects primarily so that I can learn new techniques and/or beads. It's a bonus if the end result is absolutely gorgeous, too! You have really done an amazing job using the beads that came in the subscription box, and I learned a lot. Love my pendant, too! I did insert my cabochon before working the second half of the bezel, because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it otherwise, and that worked out for me.
Awww, thank you so much for your comment!! 💜💜💜
Thank you for this cute piece, it's an amazing tutorial!
Thank you, Katalin! 💜💜💜
Gina, your pendant is so amazing, and a very worthy addition to the Starry Night 🌃 constellation!✨
Adore those cabochons, but they are beyond my beading $$ budget. 🐀🐁🐀 (Rats! 😄) You may have inspired me to have a go at making resin cabs instead. 😀Edit: WWIT??? 🤷🤦🙄 Resin and severe asthma don't play well together...🐀🐁🐀 again. 🤔 On to plans B, C, etc. (embellish clear glass or acrylic cabs, try ceramics class, polymer clay (like Tussah) ✨💡😀
I've been experimenting making cabochons out of polymer clay and that's works out well, too.
@@tussah8874 👍Your idea sounds much better and far more 🫁 friendly than resin. Plus, with clay you can make practically any custom size & shape pieces you want or can imagine. Bet your pieces are amazing!!
I also thought about playing with clear glass or acrylic cabs, or (later) looking into local ceramics classes or facilities such as the high school arts dept. (Yeah... Hubby Normal would just "love" for me to take up yet another hobby we can barely afford, and it'd look weird to classmates if I made nothing but shiny little discs, ovals, ❤️ & polygons LOL) 😂
@@abbynormal4740 I know what you mean about needing new hobbies, lol! The ceramic cabochons are a cool idea if you have access to a place with a kiln.
Otherwise, pick up a block of polymer clay and give it a try. My daughter and I did that last Mother's Day and made me a bunch of oval shaped cabochons. We decorated them with metallic mica powder before baking and they came out very cool looking. We finished with a coat of UV resin.
If you want less lumpy shapes, they sell little silicone molds or you can use small cookie/candy cutters. I used a moon face mold for a cabochon recently, and after baking, covered it with "fake" gold leaf and a little acrylic paint. I bezeled it with gold beads and it's a cool looking pendant.
Hi Gina, would this work with a 22” round? Love your designs! Thank you! Hugs!
Hi Linda! It probably would! You would just have some extra space at the "points." 💜💜💜
Is there a way to edit this design for stones of a different shape? I believe mine is octagonal
Hi Jessica! Something similar could be done with an octagon, it would just take some trial and error. 💜💜💜
@@ORCHIDandOPAL i tried doing it but my cage ended up floppy so I took it apart lol I may retry. I was so frustrated by the end I just didn't even want to do it
Do you write companion instructions to go with this?
Hi Nancy! I do, I just don't have one for this piece quite yet. 💜💜💜
