Alaska/Horizon - Dash 8 400 - Seattle (SEA) to Billings (BIL) | TRIP REPORT

- Alaska Airlines uniquely operates many Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 aircraft in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. This aircraft helps connect their Seattle & Portland hubs to smaller mid-market cities in British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, and more.
Although they're not a passenger favorite, I enjoy flying them since passenger propeller aircraft are becoming harder to find.

I apologize for the lack of recent uploads. A few days after I published the Delta 777 retirement video, my grandfather’s health deteriorated, and he passed away at an amazing age of 92, surrounded by loved ones. I took a few personal weeks away from most social media, but I’ve started editing again. There’s a bunch of cool trips I’ve filmed that will be uploaded soon, including a flight on Delta’s A350, seeing the northern lights on a 737 over Alaska, and some private jet reports! I genuinely appreciate all of the support.🤘
I apologize for your Grandfathers loss. Thank you for updating me and I cant wait for more uploads! 🙏
Im so sorry for that.. Hope you will get well soon. i continue to support you!
how do you pay for all of this?
I lost my grandpa in September and flew in October to Denver from Omaha for my grandpa's funeral. He was 78 and died from lewy body dementia and lived in Phoenix but was buried in Denver due to his service in the U.S. Air Force and plans were already arranged for that to happen at Fort Logan Cemetery many years ago and I was lucky to fly to Phoenix in January this year and saw him for one final time and I was lucky because I normally fly there in March and that was when COVID was starting to get really bad and be in long term care facilities luckily I was fine didnt catch covid but my family did but not linked to any gatherings it was after they returned home
@@qhaviation787 For what ?
It’s is so awesome when the dash 8 goes into beta range and you know you got to your destination
That flight attendant seemed amazing. Alaska crews are so great. They often really do go above and beyone
Good Video! It's nice to see Dash-8s in the wild, and a one in a special livery too. Good day!
That is the most beautiful Q400 I have ever come across. Amazing trip report!!
Ayeeeeee, #gohawks! 💚💙 Seattle native, and aspiring FA here. I recently applied with Horizon, and hope to hear good news soon! I'd love to be apart of the Alaska/Horizon family one day! 💙🤗💚 Sending prayers of comfort and healing your way. 🙏🏽
Wow, that lady in the background while he was boarding really enjoys using the word phenomenal!
As always a great trip report and sorry to hear about your grandfather.
The cookies are a far cry from when Horizon used to offer full meals on flights even short ones such as Spokane to Seattle. The price you paid was outstanding as the prices of flying to any city in Montana has traditionally been high.
While I have never flown into the Billings airport when I have been through there I have always loved the location of the airport looking over the city.
I used to live in Billings! I also used to work at the airport too, just for a different airline!
haha me too! who did you work for?
@@matth997 I was working the DGS contract for Delta
Happy Holidays to you and God Bless your family. I hope you will continue to remember your Grandfather the memories he gave your family. Please continue to fly safe and sharing you trips. Fly safe.
First, sorry to hear about your grandfather. It's good to know he was surrounded by family though. Next, I used to fly on those Q400s a lot between Seattle, Portland and Spokane when I was studying at Washington St University. Always an adventure flying those things in the winter.
I am so sorry about your grandfather pass I know it is hard my’s passed last year great video thank you
This is the one I’ve been waiting for!! Great work:))
Quintin, so sorry to hear about your Grandfather. God bless you and may you be comforted. It is so good to see your vids. We were wondering what happened. Peace brother and welcome back !
This Q re-view is brought to you by Biscoff. A lot of really nice scenery packed into this report makes it worth multiple viewings. So give it a view (or a few), hit the like, hit the sub. Well done Quebec Foxtrot Sierra and thanks for sharing!!
The seats are uncomfortable but I get major nostalgia from those planes. I used to fly those from Portland to Burbank many times over the course of a year when I was a little kid. I still fly on them a lot between Portland and Seattle
Sorry for your loss. I missed this review.
Nice flight. Thanks Quintin.
Great video review man!!
Killing it with nonstop wing action and really nice ramp sweeps!
I know Alaska from back in the day...SeaTac has grown so much!
I only recently discovered your channel. I have to say I'm impressed. You do a lot of traveling, I envy you for that.
Great write-ups and video documenting. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for to Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thanks for the video, was wondering when you would be back. I haven't flown Horizon in years, maybe ten, back when they included free beer and wine. 🍷🍺 And those seats... ☹️ I worked at STS and we had 5-6 flights a day, all Q400. Loved it! 🤗
Love the videos man I've been watching for 2 years now.
Great video. Sorry for your loss. Love your propeller view.
The A Flight attendant on board is amazing by the way
hey man, I missed you, all ways make me feel happy because of your videos. keep up the great work my friend (and if possible just a suggestion, do another Boeing, manly 787) once again keep up the great work. Also wish you family well
condolences to you and your family. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for uploading and sharing your adventures. be safe my friend
Sorry for your loss man. Praying for you and your fam 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Sorry about your grandfather keep up the great videos I watched every video you’ve made for almos 2 years
Another Biscoff as snack, what a surprise 😂. I wanna try these one day!
Great vid Quintin, I absolutely love the Q400s, such a unique plane. Prayers going out for your grandfather and your family. Hope you have a merry Christmas and god bless man, safe travels!
Such a cool video and you flew over my hometown of Wenatchee. Also one thing to note is the Seawolfs livery is no longer flying. The aircraft is but with the Alaska livery
Sorry to hear that QFS but the Q400 is a fun plane to ride hope you are doing ok.
Before Flybe went under they were the world’s biggest operator of the Q400 with around 50 (all of them leased). I still miss flying them
Very enjoyable trip report as usual mate, for the record it is usually very easy to find old airline branding once your reach the ramp/apron level - the amount of branding for defunct airlines that I've found beneath the terminals of Manchester airport is amazing, the sad part is that those parts of the terminals are being demolished to make way for a new "super terminal".
Those were the Cascade Mountains, not the Snoqualmie Mountains. There is a mountain pass that I-90 travels over named Snoqualmie Pass though.
billings seems like a cool airport
I wish you could see other parts of Montana cause it’s one of the most beautiful states in the US. Just across the street from the airport there’s a trail you can walk on. At certain times of day, you watch airplanes take off & land. The park’s name is, Swords Park. I go up there, when it’s really nice & sorta hot, to watch the UPS & FedEx airplanes come in & land & a lot of other airplanes. I’m originally from Billings, & really like living here. 😃
I believe that I was the captain of that flight lol. Thanks for flying with us!
Last time I flew on a Dash 8 was from Jalalabad to Bagram in Afghanistan🇦🇫. Was a Canadian 🇨🇦 air company too, nicknamed Molson Air of course!
Also look at the tugs and airport equipment for old alaska logos for sure!
i’m sorry about your grandfather, and great video!
I got to briefly see the BIL airport once when my UA flight from DEN to SEA was diverted due to a medical emergency. Maybe I'll have to go there for real sometime.
Love your videos hope your well love Alaska air I wanna get on one of the -8s
Congrats on 50K, prayers to your grandfather🙏
Ah Billings, MT that's a wonderful large Montana town to be in. My grandparents have been living there since 2003 after moving from Sidney. You know one day you should fly out to Bozeman on either Delta, American, United, Horizon, JetBlue, allegiant, frontier, or sun Country.
P.S. sorry about your granddad
The Michael Sharp comment counter did NOT disappoint! LOL

Something tells me the lady was phenomenal!
I love all the colleges on these planes
Always nice to see a prop flight. Couldn't help but notice the QX retro during pushback. Didn't know that existed. That would be cool to see close up.
Did I hear a teaser for a Cape Air flight? Is it their BIL-GGW flight? Is that leg still flown with the 402 or has it been moved to the Tecnam?
Fly to Barrow, Alaska sometime please!!!
Great idea
wow another Q400 video great ass job always
That plane is airborne right now QXE2280 EUG-SEA. Watch what you say about Eastern Washington!
My favourite plane! I love the video too
I used to work for Horizon in BIL. 2+ hours on this aircraft is borderline unacceptable, but I figured the free beer made up for it.
Thanks QFS !!
also amongst the fleet is Embraer (skywest) (320-321 Airbus) alaska and a whole fleet of 737 models 7-9
Alaska is returning to an all-Boeing fleet. They currently have ERJ-175s, Dash 8 Q400s, A319s, A320s, A321s and of course the 737-700, -800, -900 and soon MAX 8 and 9. The A320 series is getting scrapped though. Not sure what will happen to the regional aircraft, as Alaska exclusively uses the ERJ-175 here at Paine Field (same for United, even though it's big enough for a 737).
Love your videos
This isn’t your fault but in under 4 minutes there were 5 ads. Also you should try the new horizon service to anchorage
I already told my sentiments about your loss in that live kiddo! Wow, 92 - that`s a long journey, isn`t it?
I have a silly fan question - you don't answer if you are not up to it, I'll understand. Tell me what do you do in all those places you go to? Just a nosy curiosity baby. Thanks for sharing the video.
Great video!
nice
Love the dash8
My dad was on the Seattle to Medford today
First, Also great vid btw
I was first
@@miketheman3588 nah but you can keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better

Wow. Talk about weird. I was in Billings yesterday!
Can you make more video’s like the Aeroflot one please and thankyou
I have flown on SEA-GEG in the q400 MANY times.
I flew it many times when I was living in Spokane.
there is also a restroom at the back or at least there used to be i have flown BIL-SEA before
Nice!
Not much fun in winter w/o air bridges though.
Did you have to show proof of a covid test for departure or arrival to billings? As a rule by the city airline or otherwise?
The boss baby the season 2 PU the Sigh and Cough the Alaska Airlines!
SEA Airport the Seattle WA!
Go Seattle WA the home!
Can you pls do some Alaska airlines trip reports in Alaska, during winter of coarse, like last winter. That would be awesome
you haven’t even looked at his channel have you.
@@collinallison283 I know, he has several trip reports in Alaska on Alaskan airlines and Delta.
I have also been a subscriber for 2 years.
@@thoralborn and that matters to me why? so go watch those videos.
@@collinallison283 I have watched those videos hundreds of times. And why are you being so dumb. How about you go watch them
Noti gang
Just a shame other airlines retired their Dash 8s...I prefer them to the RJs. More room usually and a more realistic flying experience. Flew the UA Q400s out of DEN and they could get into some airports where the RJ couldn't in bad weather.
😀👍
Yes its true they did paint the UAA Q400 back to normal Alaska livery Im actually a QXFA
No, it's still in UAA livery.
@@everettrailfan I just worked on it the other day N443QX and its been painted into Alaska Livery because our Q400s no longer serve Anchorage or anywhere in Alaska. FlightRadar24 hasn't updated its photo yet
We all know why we have heard that airline name before. And a q400 seems to be the missing part. Sorry if that was too soon
when will the PBI-JFK vid be uploaded
8:24. Wenatchee, a good place to fly over or drive past. Nothing worth seeing there. (Trust me, I did 18 years there. ;) )
What camera(s) do you use to make videos?
You going to head to Sidney Montana?
Are you a seahawks fan or something?
Is anyone going on one of the first Southwest flights out of O Hare on Feb. 14
What do you use to edit your videos?
11:52 that rumor is false, I will be flying on this exact plane tomorrow from SMF-PDX
It is sadly true, it was repainted. Check the hashtag #N443QX and look at recents
Yah u finally posted
Ps first
No tomato juice ? Wow 🧐
I Was There
You went over my cabin
The boss baby the season 1 the cough!
Do you cough? Yea!
I need you a trip report with JetBlue e190 business
Pls no final flight pls 😭😭😭😭😭
Wait SEA has a bridge over a taxiway? How come I never heard of that before
It's part of the new international arrivals facility, currently set to open next year.

Hi

Aye
The service has been downgraded it used to be a E-175 with additional plans to use mainline A320s eventually
Hopefully Li Flyer, Ethan Sonnenberg, and crazycoollady1999 dont view this post
