    We should trade. Prayer can be in school IF thinking is allowed in church.

      If theists actually did think, then they would not be theists in the first place.

      CASSANDRA GORGAN, thinking does not equal "Amen." Thinking is when you explore for yourself and determine your own answers whether or not your pastor or fellow church members agree with you

    One of the biggest lesson's i've learned in life is that being religious does NOT make you a good or even decent human being. Unfortunately some of the scummiest people i've ever had the displeasure of meeting have also been some of the most religious people i've ever encountered.

      NikitaRoqueSox , As someone who grew up being put into a private Christian school, I strongly agree. This is why I have to disagree with Jaclyn on the issue of religious administration and systems in even private schools. A lot of teachers abuse their power enough as it is over their students, but I can confirm it's much worse when the religious bullshit reasoning is thrown in. I think it should be illegal in private schools as well. It's bad enough those kids have to put up with that at their homes and churches.

    I actually had a friend that constantly bashed atheism. I first met him in 7th grade and we've been good friends since then, about 3 years. The other day I finally mentioned I was an atheist after his constant bashing of the group. You know what he said?
    "Well, my parents don't let me be friends with anyone that isn't Christian. But I won't tell them."
    We're still good friends to this day :D

      Sounds like a couple of people at my church. They're oddballs but I don't mind hanging out with them, but constant brainwashing from the youth pastor has them believing that atheists have no morals, want to believe god doesn't exist, homosexuals are all going to burn in Hell and are disgusting people, etc. Just today them and the youth pastor were going on a a little circlejerk about how atheists apparently have no moral compass because evolution teaches that the strongest survive and so it's not wrong to an atheist to kill someone and I wanted to come out as atheist and call them out on their bullshit so bad. I was so close to losing my temper. The pastor also started going on a conspiracy about how the government passed a bill that lets them microchip people (which didn't even happen) and that it's the mark of the beast and that the end is coming along with World War 3. I am extremely worried about the future of the indoctrinated kids in there with me.

      Your sister from another mister omg same. Okay, you'll probably get a kick out of how awkward this situation I once ended up in, was:
      I was at my son's school for their winter holiday assembly, and one of his friend's moms (who was ridiculously religious, albeit well meaning) asked if she could pray for me. Not wanting to offend her, I said sure. Oh boy did I regret that quickly. She proceeded to bend over me (I need a wheelchair to get around these days) she put her hands on my knees, and she closed her eyes, she started swaying and rambling in her first language (I have no idea what it was, and I'm multilingual, so not English, French, Spanish, nor German, and I can also recognize Japanese, Chinese (although I don't know the difference between the different Chinese languages) and Korean, and it wasn't something Slavic. I'm thinking an Indian or African language... Idk. Anyway, I just squirmed in my chair. My hubby had gone to get my son, and his school doesn't have an elevator, so he just left me alone. My illness (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) also affects my arms, so I was stuck there. I also am the kind of person who would sooner spontaneously combust than be rude. *BUT* if that wasn't bad enough, she told me to say *amen* after every time she said it. It was so awkward that I just peeped it out to get it overwith. It felt like we were like that for years. But finally she told me that as long as I continued to let Jesus into my life, I would be healed... OH! Thanks lady! Why didn't I think of that during my 33 years of life, 10 or so, of which, I spent belonging to 3, and studying 5 other, religions; before just giving up because they all seemed so unrealistic. But yes! Jesus! Wow. I never would have tried that... cause you know, I don't want to try whatever I can to get better. *rolls eyes*
      I'm such a skeptic, the placebo effect doesn't even work on me.
      Edit: I'M FREAKING CANADIAN! (Cause if I were American, I'd probably be used to this crap by now lol)

      Christians don’t need the threat of hell or the promise of heaven to be a good person. Where did you get that idea from? If a person is a Christian. A real Christian. They do things to please God because they love Him. They do it out of want to please Him. I love Jesus and I do things out of love for Him. Good things. Which people would consider factors into being a good person. It’s tricky to explain but I hope I did my best.

And because the Bible is so old there are parts that are not look at deeply, an example is when it comes to roles in society ( but that depends on your churches view of those rules, an example would be women leading the church, some would say “no the Bible says...” and some would say “yes because...” ). I do hope this answers your question and doesn’t give you any wrong Ideas if you have any more questions feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my ability 😁

      God in the bible sanctions slavery, says parents can stone their children to death and ordered the mass murder of thousands of innocent people and said they could keep the virgins for themselves. The bible or any religion for that matter is not a good moral compass. People are not moral because they read their bible, if they really did they would not be moral. People are moral because we as a society recognize what benefits us as a whole. How do I know it's wrong to murder another person? I don't know really but I do know that it causes damage to our society and I myself would not want to be murdered, that is all we need to know. People do not get their morals from god or religion, they are attributing their morals to their religion in a desperate attempt to make religion justified. The reality is that religion is not only contradicted by massive amounts of scientific facts, it is also a immoral system and it's so sad that people have been so brainwashed by it that they are willing to throw away their humanity in order to appeal to an imaginary man in the sky.

      This is an interesting comment(and I completely agree with it)I’m just gonna add on. I recently realized that more often than not, those who are a religion haven’t finished the Bible, they haven’t read it in its entirety(if you have and you are still religious, power to you) but those who have read it in its entirety and know what the Bible teaches are usually agnostic or atheists, now that is not to say that is always the case, but that is what I have noticed in my area of the world and also on the corners of the internet I hang out on. I guess ignorance really is bliss...

    I'm a "spiritual" type person. I have I guess Christian beliefs and it works for me. I'm a preacher's kid and grandkid. I also have friends and family, my youngest daughter for one, who are atheist. I can say in my personal experience, the alleged Christians are far more lacking in morals than any atheist I've ever known. Your spiritual beliefs are not a matter of law. They don't belong in front of any other belief. If it's about morals alone, Christians need to realize that organized religion is full of hypocrisy and it's created by people to divide and conquer. I LOVE the separation of church and state. I don't want religion in my government and I damn sure don't want the government in my beliefs. Sadly, religion often closes minds which in turn closes your heart. The only thing scarier than an atheist?? A Bible waving sheep

      Organized religion is a system of control but also a signaling system, to signal that you are a "moral" person to other members, in the goal of producing viable offspring. Just like why you don't run around naked in public even when there is no rational reason, just to signal that you are a sane person and not a danger. It has nothing to do with truth. I don't believe in absolute moral truths but I do believe that truth is important for morals.

    I believe in Jesus and all that. BUT those ladies are a perfect example as to why most of my friends are Atheist. A lot of Christians tend to be very close minded to other people and their points of view and just assume they are always right and the greatest people alive, and that pisses me off. My atheist friends know I’m religious, and they don’t care if I pray around them, and as well I don’t try to force him to pray with me, because I know they don’t want to. We understand each other and accept each other for who we are and that’s what important. All these “Christians” who want to say I follow the Jesus; and then go out and judge others based on their lives or beliefs contradict themselves. To me, i think being Christian doesn’t give you special rights to judge others, who are you to say what’s wrong or right? Besides I also don’t believe God hates anyone, I don’t think you go to hell for everything people say you do. If He made us and knew we’d sin, why would he send us to an eternity of pain for something he planned? No, I don’t believe that bullshit. I understand you’d go to hell if you abuse, rape, molest, or murder; you are damaging and or ending a human life and that’s just not human. I think Christianity sees God as vengeful and mean, and hateful, and I won’t be a part of it. I don’t care if you are religious, Atheist, Black, white, Latino, Asian, straight, gay, bi, etc. As long as you are humbled, speak positively, and have a kind heart, you’re good in my book!

      @Boborino 6 лет назад +11

      Stirgid Lanathiel I understand what you’re saying, and I appreciate your feedback. You’re right in fact, the Atheists I know don’t believe simply because there isn’t enough evidence God exists, and I understand that completely. I know Atheists aren’t who they are because they are scared off. I understand y’all just want proof, and yeah there ain’t any physical proof God exists. That’s why I won’t judge anybody who is Atheist, cause y’all have a valid point. In fact I don’t judge anyone on their point of view, you being Atheist doesn’t have anything to do with me, so who am I to judge you. Same as me being religious, it doesn’t hurt my friends, so they respect my point of view. If more people thought this way, the world would be a much better place in my opinion, live and let live you know? I just personally see God in the environment around me, in the things he does, But I digress. I’m tired of Atheists and Christians always fighting on the Internet, most of it is started by Christians, and it’s sickening. Who cares what someone believes, as long as you’re a good kind hearted person, that should be enough!

      I know it may be hard, but but try not to judge the Bible based on the actions of people who claim to follow it. If 10 people were given a computer manual and 8 people don't apply what's in it you wouldn't couldn't that the manual is wrong would you? If you're suspicious that the manual might actually be wrong, it would be wise to study the manual, separate from the actions of those who claim to follow it.

    • @KingOfHell94
      @KingOfHell94 6 лет назад

      @Ramza yea and if that manual said clicking power button improved the speed of your computer and it actually turns it off? if it says moving mouse to the left will move it right on the screen? then it says there was a guy who clicked enter on the keyboard and his computer became 1000 times faster but there is no way of knowing if thats true you just gotta believe. would you still take that manual seriously?

    • @muCephei_
      @muCephei_ 6 лет назад +1

      If there is a person who's never read the manual who claims it's providing blatantly wrong directions and if a person who's read the manual helps you understand the manual and explains the meaning of the manual, I'd listen to the latter person.

    • @KingOfHell94
      @KingOfHell94 6 лет назад +1

      so if a person actually knows about computers and then reads the manual and he knows whats wrong and whats right in the manual cause he actually knows all of that without manual, then he tells you and you listen to him.
      you dont see the problem with that? yeah he might tell you everything correctly, but he's not telling you any of it cause of the manual, he's telling you cause he knows himself, he simply references the manual just for the topics not the actual meaning or ways of doing it.
      thats literally what most of you do, you read the bible cherry pick what you like and then call yourselves christian, when the matter of fact is you're just choosing what to believe which is not really called being christian, its actually better than that cause u're dismissing lots of horrible things, but its just silly,
      if you dont believe 100% of the bible then u're contradicting yourself, if bible was wrote by god and he's 100% perfect and knows everything he would've never made any mistakes, bible would be 100% accurate, if it has even 1 mistake that already makes all of it pretty much improbable,
      while it actually has maybe half of it wrong which should tell any sane person with a bit of a thinking power that its all bullshit, just live your life be who you are, you dont need god to tell you who you are supposed to be, i'm atheist and what i love the most in this life is making others happy,
      literally thats the number 1 thing that makes me happy, i dont need god for that and you neither, religion doesnt do much good, most of the good comes from the people itself,
      most people get from religion is just bad shit, they think that they're doing good and being good because of religion, but in reality they're just good and they just do good cause they want to but then give credits to god/religion.
      i'm sorry English is my 3rd language and i'm horrible with punctuation and stuff. i hope its readable.
      i also hope you'll think about this, get that religion out of your life be a better person without it and live your life fullest, cause sadly its the only life you have, just like its the only life everyone else has and thats the reason you should try to help them enjoy it as much as you enjoy it. THATS why you should be a good person and help others not because u're afraid that some asshole in the sky will send you to hell if you dont, that just makes you a horrible person.

So i suggest to just let natural selection do its work, its a problem that will fix itself over time.

I was afraid to identify as an atheist, until I started watching your videos! :) I understand atheism SO much more, and am proud to say I’m an Athiest and a damn good person as well. I will stand up for what I believe now. You are helping people like me that feel like a complete outcast in a very religious place, know that they are NOT alone in the way they feel. I am teary eyed writing this because it is a relief to not have to try and hide who I am, but instead be proud of it and do the best I can to be the best person I can be. I seemed to found so many inconsistencies and things that just didnt seem logical at all. I stumbled across jaclyns channel and it has helped me so much in recognizing that im not alone in my thoughts lol. I realized the reason i had a hard time letting these things go is bc they have been inbedded in me since i was born. Mint, someone claiming to do something in the name of Jesus, doesn't mean that they are Christians. The Crusades was not done for Jesus because it defied the very ideals that Jesus stood for. Jesus said "love your neighbor"; He certainly did not say that it is okay to to kill your neighbor. Justifying the Cdusades with the Bible is like saying that you can love the Earth by littering--it doesn't work; so even if it was a terrible act done by Christians, they're actiiona cannot be justified by the religion they professed. I wanted to point that out because it sounds like you're blaming their actions on religion, when in reality, it's just human nature. Human beings can make irrational and impulsive decisions. It's unfair to say that because of religion, people do bad things.

Knowing how to do good or being capable of doing good is not an atheistic concept, it is Biblical. It is also not reserved for Christians alone, but is for everybody. Read Genesis 3:1-7 when you have the time to do so, I believe that it will help you. GOD bless.

      @glad2help196 6 лет назад

      Seishiro Sakurazuka You see this is what I am talking about. You mention 1 Samuel 15: 2-3, but when quoting the Scriptures, you intentionally included an ellipsis, the three dots that are used to omit words and sentences from a text. Now why would you go and omit from your post the very reason why GOD declared judgment upon Amalek? Is it possible that you were trying to alter the essence of the message of the Scriptures to fit your idea of Who GOD is? Is it possible that you just want GOD to be evil? Well HE isn't evil, GOD is good. Even if you don't want to live for GOD, at least be honest and declare the "whole" message of what is being said, and not just your own personal opinion based upon your dislike of GOD. If you understood who the ancient Amalekites were and what they used to do, you would not have chosen those Scriptures to post in a facetious way. GOD bless.

      Henry Dalcke
      atheism does not include anything about origins. atheism describes lack of belief in a god or gods, nothing more nothing less.
      there are atheistic religions, such as buddhism or shinto, an atheist can believe in spirits or soul or rebirth, an atheist can believe in ghosts, telepathy, telekinesis, dragons, magic, wichcraft, an atheist can believe we are a brain in a vat fed information via our nerves by a computer matrix style, or that we are a giants dream, an atheist can believe that we are sleeping and when we die we just wake up.
      now an atheist can have faith or religion, but it is not included in atheism. even faith or believing in science is not included in defining someone as atheist. there are some tribal communities that have not advanced beyond mudhut technology, that do not have any gods, which makes them atheists. we are not a single community with specific belief system, atheism is an umbrella term for anyone that does not believe in god or gods.
      the common scientific explanation to morals is that we are pck animals and have evolved as pack animals. packs that trust eachother and have empathy, work together better than communities which are purely selfish.
      think of it this way, wolves come and go, they switch packs and even when they work together, they dont always know and trust the pack, they have about 15% success rate in hunting.
      african wild dogs hunt in packs and stay in that pack for life, they all have specific roles in a hunt and trust eachother to do their job properly, their success rate in hunting is about 90%.
      morals boil down to what is beneficial for the pack is moral, and what is detrimentla for the pack is immoral.
      your favorite sports team fan punches a member of an opposite sports team fan. that fan was an enemy, something that is against your pack, serves them right.
      one of them punches a member of your sports team, damn those bastards, thats downright immoral.
      it is beneficial for the pack as whole to alienate negative aspects of the pack, justice and sense of morality is something that allows a pack to survive in hard times. its basic survival of the fittest, just in a community size instead of individual level.
      im curious tho, if christians are saying atheists have no morals, what is that claim based on.
      i mean afaik the bible says we ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and that was the original sin. do we lose the effect when we become atheists according to your religion?
      "now he has become like us, and must not also eat from the tree of life and live forever". knowing good from evil was a bad thing according to the bible, so would a person with no morals such as an atheist be more welcome to paradise than a christian?
      how does that really work?

      It's funny because the "we are sinners and flawed" argument inherently contradicts the existence of a designer with a perfect design in mind. We have useless wisdom teeth and vestigial traits--appendixes that could explode and kill us at any moment. We have many inherent design flaws. We either evolved or have a very, very stupid designer.

    Some of the most moral people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet have not shared my personal faith in God. That’s because morality and religion aren’t interchangeable, nor are they inseparable. Every belief system (or lack of belief system as the case may be) has a set of standards, which can be perceived as morality, and most of the time, these systems overlap on the big things (murder, child abuse, etc.). Where we part company is on the small stuff (the source of our core beliefs).
    I will not condemn your atheism because I don’t hold the same beliefs, nor will I say you are immoral because our Venn Diagram of standards doesn’t completely overlap. My faith in God can withstand your lack of faith in Him, and your atheism can withstand my belief in God. And we can both be moral people in the process by following one simple rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. I respect your opinions, even when I don’t agree, because you are open and honest about them. I hope you continue to speak out!

    “Secular humanism has supplanted morality”?...you do realize that humanism is the belief that people have objective moral worth regardless of there being a god

    • @neosoontoretro
      @neosoontoretro 6 лет назад

      @andy But why do they people have objective moral worth? If there is no objective authority to morality then how can we assert human beings intrinsic worth?

    • @andyrihn1
      @andyrihn1 6 лет назад

      neosoontoretro I’m not a humanist. I don’t believe anything has objective worth (moral or otherwise). I was just responding to an extremely stupid contradiction
      That being said, my understanding of humanism is that it asserts that human moral worth just is. It strikes me as a faith-based position which is why I reject it but that’s the belief

    • @neosoontoretro
      @neosoontoretro 6 лет назад

      Oh, okay. So you think that morality is just an opinion and not based on anything objective. Alright, at least it's consistent.

    • @andyrihn1
      @andyrihn1 6 лет назад

      neosoontoretro My moral philosophy is based on subjectivity but to say that I think morality is an opinion is misrepresentative
      We have a general consensus of what wellbeing is but morality is based on what we can know as fact furthers wellbeing. We care about wellbeing and can mostly agree on it because of rational self interest. We enforce morality primarily through the social contract whenever it’s not enough to rely on our general instinct towards altruism

    • @neosoontoretro
      @neosoontoretro 6 лет назад

      @andy You can't have it both ways, you can't say your moral philosophy is subjective then say you don't think morality is an opinion. That is what being subjective means, it's someone's opinion.

    • @harpyhelen3972

      Jefke Theboss, 1. most atheists do not believe that their ancestors came from monkeys. Nobody ever even actually said that, Charles Darwin said we share similar traits with monkeys, not that we are them. 2. Mythology is not the belief in multiple God's, that's polytheism. Mythology just means the study of myths usually from cultural/religious backgrounds. 3. Almost every single religion tells similar stories of the flood. Ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian societies had no idea of the "Noah topic". I don't even get how that's a valid topic you're trying to bring up. All that means is that a long time ago there was a large flood. Also, do not categorize all atheists as 'dumb' when you can't spell "myth" or "different" correctly.

    • @harpyhelen3972

      1)Why are Atheist scientist like Richard Dawkins saying it? He is the most famous atheist and always come on tv and bring that up while insulting religion?
      2) True... But why did they writed about their belief philosophical? The goal of research into myths there is the origin, development and meaning of to figure out, where more is learned about religious practices, the worldview of groups of people and their culture in General... For example:
      ---- The ancient Egyptians knew in fact no transcendent god, but an immanent. The divine was always and everywhere. Every nature power, supernatural power, legality or facet of the Cosmos was not only nominated, but also referred to with its own Visual representation.. In otherwords polytheism & Mythology is the same because there are alot of stories about diffrent god and in polytheism religion its accepted to talk/write about it and had their own ideas about how the gods world put out....
      --- Because of the evil things Egypte did God choose the Jewish people to worship 1 God and they accepted and leave Egypte from slavey... God gave the Old-Testament wich The Bible & Quran comes from...
      3) I never said Atheist are dumb I clearly said "dumb Atheist claims" wich i refer to scientific Atheist who brings their own philosophical world view to the public... Btw if you think i'm rude in my reply then you think to be quickly endorsed... Welcome to the internet... Ps Sorry if i'm being rude to you it was never the perpuso to be like that my english is not my main language so maby it comes to rude towards you...

      Jefke Theboss Can you tell us why do you think "your" god is the right one? There are thousands of them but you are 💯 % yours is the right one, why? The odds of God even existing is less then 0.0000001. So if you are lucky that your god does exist, you need more luck so the god you believe in is the right one. So living blind your whole life thinking of an imaginary man in the sky must be really bad. I will pray to the spaghetti monster. If you keep believing this blasphemies you will end up burning in the fires of tomato sauce land. I dont want that for you brother. Hope you find the true god.

    I used to be friends with a particular fundamentalist Christian and his wife, and I actually rented a room from them and lived with them for a while. Then, one day he told me straight to my face that I couldn't have morals because I was an atheist.
    About a week or two after that he told me that I had to go to church with him as a condition for continuing to rent the room. Needless to say, I was pissed, but I didn't miss irony that he'd said that *I* was the one with no morals, then he pulled that crap. Something which I could have actually sued him for if he was a legitimate landlord. I moved out a couple of days later.

      as a result ⬇
      ATHEISTS SCIENTISM lead to
      ↪NOT BELIEVE IN Love , Confidence OR NOT BELIEVE IN themselves and others including parents, love ones, people
      ↪NOT BELIEVE in Purposeful and Meaningful Life , Consciousness, Love, Art and Beauty and other abstract emotional elements...
      ↪ NOT BELIEVE IN having faith, assumptions, speculations, imagination, ideas, values, good and bad, justice system ETC...

Being stoned to death was very common and actualy their are mutch worser methodes then being stoned to death in acient history.... The fact that Jesus himself got stoned because he helped & healed the poor/sick people says enough how the mindset of people where in those times.... Also They gave a women to Jesus because the women commited adultery and they wanted to hear Jesus his opinion(in those times they stone a women to death and its done by everybody) But do you know what Jesus said? Who commited no Sin can trow the first stone... And everybody leaved the place and the women was saved.....

    Technically, you don't want to be good or bad because they are both the same thing, they are both, evil! Want proof, well, an easy one would be, being a cop. He/she would have us believe that they represent doing good by protecting us from the bad guy. The thing is, the more good they do, by incarcerating, extorting and potentially killing criminals, the more evil or bad they've done to do good at their job. There are several other ways to show how good and bad are same, but I think this will do for now!

    Jaclyn, I know this frustrated you to no end, bc I feel the same way. I am tired of the labeling and the blaming and the finger pointing. If burning at the stake was still legal I am sure many an atheist wouldn't be here right now. But, there is a silver lining, for me at least. You go on here and you make those of us surrounded on all sides by walls of indocrination and religion, feel less alone. Through the stupidity and hurt, you make us laugh. That is a gift, honey. I finally came out to my parents about my lack of belief. I was scared, not gonna lie. And they weren't happy, which is no surprise (and I am sure I am bound to a future full of attempts to pull me back from the brink of hell LOL). But you helped me be brave enough to stop hiding who I was inside, what I really thought and believed. For that, I am truly grateful. So you see? Stupid stuff like this will happen, and girl, if you want to find stupid, just watch FoxNews (What were you thinking?? haha). You may think you don't make a difference but you do. You did for me. And Matt Dillihunty and Amon Ra, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson- all of you have made me know it's ok to be me, and to not hide it anymore. So thanks. :) Much love XOXO

    I’m an atheist and I have a tremendous sense of empathy and I couldn’t hurt a fly but I completely disagree with prayer. However a moment of silence in schools is a good thing in the wake of tragedy because it gives students a chance to mentally process what they have learnt and IF a student wishes to pray silently for comfort, they can. If they want to cry, they can. A moment of silence allows you to get in your own head. Everyone processes everything differently and a moment of silence allows you to get into your own and deal with it or at the very least, begin dealing with it.

Since you're only being good b/c of something for YOU (gain reward or avoid punishment) then you're not good at all! Selfish motivation is what it comes down to. TRULY good people will do good things regardless because they want to not because they feel they have to.
