Yo Scott, you gotta change the shaping! The angle up makes it ride nose low in Mission which is great if you ride past pushback the entire time while racing. For a more well rounded slower speed setting, you'll want to angle the nose up in Custom between 2-3 degrees. Give that a go and that will solve your nose low issue. Great review!
@@TheHitman- nah, I did that first summer. I had a crash or two that made me not ride as much. Also, I got more into exercising and working out so it's made me put more time into biking rather than being on the onewheel.
This video fails to mention the main advantages of the rails. The lowered center of gravity allows you to carve hard fast turns without the board going too far over the heel or toe. When riding in mission or with the nose down, it levels out to a very balanced point when pushback is hit. It doesn’t mention the fact that customizing your shaping settings is a big part of riding with these rails. This video says that they were created to celebrate bodhi’s win, but in actuality they were thought of long ago, and bodhi was the first to win on them. (Dirtsurferz)
Thanks floaty, I know I’m late but tfl just re released wtfs and I’m struggling with the price tag. Not sure if it’s worth buying, I’m trying to find out if they alleviate foot/leg fatigue. I’m an everyday city commuter, these streets suck!
@@themalteseninja8307 I would say if you’re someone who rides at pushback and are feeling pains from that, then these will definitely help you achieve a more level stance while zooming so that should help your foot fatigue a bit.
I'm thinking of buying this Rail today, after using them all this time what can you tell me, what I always look for in a Onewheel and stability when running, that it has less danger of throwing me on the ground
You need to try a Burris 5.5 on those rails! I had my trail pro on at first but the lower center of gravity really cut down the slow speed maneuverability. The 5.5 feels great and gives you that cornering ability back.
@@johnosterman494 Well I'm cruising comfortably at 22mph. Not sure if that helps haha. The board is capable of these speeds without the WTF rails. But the WTF make you accelerate faster as well as feel more comfortable at higher speeds. With stock rails it feels like you have to give it your all to hit higher speeds and feels super sketchy when you hit them. Think of a sports car vs 4x4 pickup. Which one handles better when driving down the road? Sports car every time.
@@ScotMendenhall ok cool that answers my question. I've noticed a lot of other You Tubers ride mission. Either they just feel more comfortable in mission or they havent messed with the other modes. Me personally I love Delirum as well.
The rails look good but the slight angle of the footpad being the only advantage seems a little gimmicky to me for the $420 price tag. I'd like to see TFL make a set of rails that lifts the rails above the axle to actually give more ground clearance. But I've been sporting the Ignite Lift Kit for several months now and that does give an extra 1.125" lift and for the price of $125, and a simpler install than new rails, how could you go wrong?
The slight angles change the geometry with significant performance improvements. Change the geometry of a device like this by even 1 degree has major impact on performance. You’ve done this with your lift kit. By having a Lowe’s center of gravity creates more stability at speed. The angled foot pads regain the lost clearance of the drop, while also banking your feet into the pads increasing grip, control input and traction. The mod is solid.
Ya it's to pricey I would agree. I get what the purpose of them is now but the price tag to go slightly faster in a more comfortable position and not captain Morgan is a tough pill to swallow unless your like pro onewheel racer
My currrent rig: Floatwheel 1200W motor with Hoosier whisper. Vesc 6.6 open source ESC CBXR battery WTF rails. Had a guy custom machine matching axle blocks for the conversion. 50% more power, 50% more battery, and 20% higher current. I’m a 200lb rider over 6’ and I still get 20mph with about an hour worth of battery. Total cost: $1800 including the authentic FM XR bumper and fender. DIY WTF onewheel for less than an XR!!!
@@ScotMendenhall ah ok... footage was very minimal and brief. It was in a very brief and darkly lit Instagram story a few days ago. Looks like they are making progress because they showed it in action unless that was another product that has different bolt configurations at the center of the rails. 😀
Unfortunately I have seen Jeff say it won't happen for a pint. I believe that's because you need custom shaping to compensate for the controller being angled. But never say never! Someone might find a way. I think it would be great with the shorter base of the pint.
400+ bucks Is quite a lot when you could just send a picture and general measurements to a local cnc shop and pay like....100 bucks for the exact same shape and size.
Yo @Scot that carhart work apron is fire brotha! Let's get to woooork!! Lil pricey but cool product, WTF plate paired with this alternate tire- looks worth it, 21-22mph and limited pushback? Def sounds like flirting w/ disaster for me haha, but if it makes local veggie runs quicker then it's super worth it! Also, what was that mysterious veggie i gotta know.. Was it deemed a fruit after all ? 😆
I've also been wondering this. If the whole purpose is so when riding past push back your nose is lower and not up at the ceiling then it's really a comfort / stability thing while riding fast rather the. Being forced captian morgan. Personally I think float life makes great products but for the price I just don't see the point of putting on these rails for most riders. If your racing sure then maybe since you would have a more stable ride when pushing the boards limits bit for average Joe no reason to get them.
There are multiple reasons for homebrew Growler rails and WTF Rails. 1) they are 7075 aircraft aluminum (very strong) so the don’t bend, especially for free style riders. 2) they have stronger treads so they don’t strip (I’ve already had two screws strip on my front footpad in 4 months), 3) Growler rails are a little shorter for more control, better for free style, 4) WTF rails are great for riding trails, Scott just had the wrong settings on in this video. They are way better for trail riding with the elevated foot pads and the incline of the footpads provide a more controlled stance. The are a bit pricey but they are worth it! Either option is one you won’t regret!
