I find this a genuinely difficult game. It's easy enough until you go to the red area, or challenge the level boss. But they get me every time. I have mainly used the shotgun so far, and it's done me well, but I think I'll give the crossbow a try next run since the extra movement could be a lifesaver.
I stuck with the revolver for the additional life but maybe the crossbow would have been the better option so I could dodge out of the way of attacks a bit easier, that would have probably saved me losing way more than the two hearts the revolver gives!

I think this works well with the roguelite/roguelike/roguething (I'm never quite sure of the difference) because you only have the one person, not a squad that can be replaced.
