@@bpozop it requires i high headroom amp to not sound like mush, a very delicate balancing game of eq balancing and keeping the gain relatively low. But the results is a crushing stoner metal tone
With the Wicker engaged, I find it add a little more clarity at lower gain (sustain) levels, usually with the gain around the 9:00 position. I own one of these and I love it. Now I'm interested in the new Green Russian Big Muff reissue. You should do a shootout between the BM Tone Wicker and the Green Russian BM RI.
Tone 5, Sustain 5-7. But Black Keys is more about the amp. A 5 watt amp being completely pushed with this and reverb will get you closer than having a 50 watt marshall that you can only turn up to volume 1.
I may have to try that with another pedal. I have a hot tubes pedal, just never really found a use for it. May have to put it on a 4 Pedal Rig episode. Thanks for the idea!
Depends on the era of Gilmour, really. It'd work well for most leads although his rhythm tones were strangely difficult because his tone was in his hands more than anything
I really like this one because of the tone shaping options, however the triangle big muff is pretty cool too. I haven’t played the triangle EH, however I did have a Mooer one that I really liked.. i was partial to the PI myself. Thanks for the comment!
It's the other way round. When you switch the tone off, the volume jumps up, because you disengage that part of the circuit. Tone on and wicker off is the standard big muff setup (pretty much), and you can change those 2 elements on this version.
imho this is one of the best sounding modern Big Muffs
Best review of this pedal on the net. Made me buy it. Nuff said.
Thanks!
Muff Said.
Thanks for the video!! This pedal ROCKS!!!!
Video demo for the EHX Big Muff Pi with TONE WICKER!!! (tone wicker is a fancy way of saying 'bright switch'!!)
my uncle got me this pedal as a early xmas present and it rocks !
Sounds amazing and even better when paired with a proco rat 2
Thanks for the tip was thinking of getting a rat for that reason
Before or after the muff?
how would you stack them?

Sweet demo. I'd love to see some more demo's.

Wicker is super versatile, russian is a bit of a one trick pony, although his one trick is absolutely great
What settings for black keys tone?
not quite sure. unfortunately i no longer have the pedal..
jgmedina I'll take a look and get back to you

I pair mine with a EH Hot Tubes pedal with my Strat into a Hot Rod Deluxe iii....Heaven.

Will it work for Pumpkins? and/or Wolfmother?
Pumpkin’s most definitely! Not sure about Wolfmother, as I’m not very familiar with their music. Thanks fo the comment!
@@MarshallGTV better sound with tone on kr off? Same with wicker
I liked it with the tone off and the wicker off, but it depends on your amp and personal preference
Can i play sabbath tunes with this?
Petar Rožac sure, why not?
would this pedal help shape the sound for hendrix & gilmoure?
Hendrix perhaps, gilmour prob a rat would work.. This pedal is more of a bully corgan vibe imo.
this would work fine for Gilmour too since he used a big muff pi
just go for fuzzface if you wanna go for hendrix
Huh , Would that be Wooly Bully Corgan ???

Sweet demo, would you recommend it over the triangle muff? I'm kinda deciding between them both

@@MarshallGTV thanks so much for the quick answer! I think I'll go wicker but I feel any muff is a good decision at the end
Hi does this pedal fit with a dirty amp?
I only tried it with a clean tone, however with the tone control off it may make a great boost for a dirty amp.
@@MarshallGTV ok Thank you
Crees que funcione bien este pedal en mi bajo ? Me gustaría ver un video con un bajo y este pedal 😀
CANGREJO FILMS lo siento, no hablo espanol
@@MarshallGTV Do you think this pedal works well on my bass?
I think it would work very well on bass :)
Would this be alright for grunge
sure... also get yourself a phaser pedal or a uni vibe type thing.. that'll give an amazing classic rock type thing
if you mean grunge like Mudhoney or Nirvana.... hell yeah!
@@coldwar1977 I have the nyc big muff it can do nirvana in fact I think Kurt used it on lithium
Fantastic sound, but you have to notice that when the tone toggle is engaged, there is a huge volume drop. IMHO that's a great problem.
Yup. Mine stays up anyway
