You can get a new 32GB ddr4 kit for about $50 now. Also, the latest gaming consoles are running ddr4, not ddr5, so yeah, it'll still be several years before we see any significant difference and how games utilize ddr5.
DDR4 is not even close to dead I'm still using a mid range system from 2013 on DDR3 and still have no issues playing games from that time on max graphics at 1080p
If you’re going with LGA 1700 i3s or i5s, by the time you start to consider an upgrade, there will probably be better options on new platforms if your focus is gaming performance. That means it’s less likely for people to just by an overpriced old i7s or i9s down the line. Therefore, getting DDR5 kits for “future proofing” can be less economical.
I still use ddr2 😅😅 but the PC still holds up great with core 2 quad q9550 and GTX 650ti the performance is great in games I play (CSGO and valorant both get 130+ fps mid settings)
DDR4 vs DDR5 is like pcie gen 3 vs 4 (or even better, Gen 5) on ssds, people keep saying that more optimized games are coming and they will take advantage of the technology but it keeps not happening, buy DDR4, is still alive and useful.
It’s just an architecture change, remember Gs. The things that have most impact on performance is the GPU and CPU, not ram. Although RAM may play a part. Currently even 14th Gen still works with DDR4, the small performance improvements are not worth it compared to the higher costs.
I just bought a pre-built with a 13th gen i7, super fast 1TB ssd, but it has DDR4 ram so I feel like I made a huge mistake. But I was on a tight budget and it was the only thing I could find to fit it with a 13th gen cpu and 32GB of RAM. I should be fine for a few years though, I'm not doing any gaming on it, just music.
I would like to build a PC for under $800. It would be mostly playing call of duty, Minecraft, and games like war thunder, world of tanks. What parts should I go with

Ryzen 5600, a cheap B550 mobo, cheap Silicon Power RAM (3200/3600MHz and CL 16), 1-2 TB PCIe 3.0 drive like a 670p, look for 6700XT especially used so you can get them under $300, and don't skimp on PSU quality. A RM750e/x or something similar.
People do be saying stuff like "DDR4 aint dead" or something, but y'all forgetting that a lot of people were saying the same shit about ddr3. It's still prevalent, but that'll change in a year or so.
is it still true that you shouldn’t go over a certain speed when buying ddr5 ram found a 6400 mhz 32 gb for the same price as a 6000 and 5800 both 32 gb
When you have 4 sticks, yeah. 5600 mhz is like the most you can go before it gets unstable. With 2 sticks, you can easily run 7200+ mhz and have it be stable
Build a system for a specific resolution & monitor play Hz & use whatever hardware can achieve good performance at that level for a price that you can stomach. Then, you never have to upgrade the PC, assuming that you play within those build parameters.
He’s saying this because it’s easier (price wise) for him to get im on DDR4 and it runs smooth. It’s really down to your Ram (16gb and up) GPU especially and at least intel I6 and up
basically, if you're gonna spend hella money on a top-of-the-line i9, it'd be pretty stupid to not go with DDR5 conversely, if you're running an i5, DDR4 is probably the more sensible option
i would recommend ddr4 if you have a budget of $3000 or less and want aesthetics and performance because ddr4 has a bigger variety in components and more affordable then ddr5.

Ngl, he's right. 2 to 5 years is the sweet spot. 5 years GPU/CPU is day and night.
You can get a new 32GB ddr4 kit for about $50 now. Also, the latest gaming consoles are running ddr4, not ddr5, so yeah, it'll still be several years before we see any significant difference and how games utilize ddr5.
When I will make my own PC 10 yrs later, I want it to run for 10yrs straight. Nothing less than 10.
DDR4 is not even close to dead I'm still using a mid range system from 2013 on DDR3 and still have no issues playing games from that time on max graphics at 1080p
“Built to last” yeah which is why there will still be people with DDR4 fir a long time still
Agree good ddr4 4000mhz+ 32gb are realy expensive and dd5 is much cheaper today then it was previous year
Me here, lasting for 7 years with my gigabyte b150m gaming3 ddr3 motherboard and 12 gigs of ram.
Still using ddr3 with the server cpu. Working perfectly fine for linux sysadmins.
If you got more money or in coming money
Am5 is the way to go
But for me a budget gamer
Ddr4 is a blessing specially good to mint 2nd hand units
This video was how I figured out I truly know nothing about pcs. I seriously thought this video was about Dance Dance Revolution for a second 😂😂
ddr4 is still pretty good and ddr5 mobos are sometimes are way more expensive than the ddr4 version of them
hey Zach can you show me a 1200$ gaming pc and yes the parts can be used
Bro Im still rocking 16gbs of ddr3 from 10 years ago and still able to play with no problem lol
My laserjet commercial printer supports DDR1 Ram and still works like a charm. I don't know why or how. 😂
My new PC will only last 2 years?! My old one lasted 15+ lmao
Heads up to new builders, remember if you want ddr5, you will need to buy a ddr5 compatible motherboard.
And a cpu to go along with it
I'd rather go for ddr4 32gb 4000mhz which is under $100 on Amazon. Last I checked it was $80
I just bought a pre-built with a 13th gen i7, super fast 1TB ssd, but it has DDR4 ram so I feel like I made a huge mistake. But I was on a tight budget and it was the only thing I could find to fit it with a 13th gen cpu and 32GB of RAM. I should be fine for a few years though, I'm not doing any gaming on it, just music.
Yeah, for 7 years for music with ableton
I would like to build a PC for under $800. It would be mostly playing call of duty, Minecraft, and games like war thunder, world of tanks. What parts should I go with
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
Mobo: B550M DS3H
Ram: Silicon Power 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16
GPU: RX 6700XT
Storage: Intel 670p 1TB SSD
Case: Deepcool MATREXX 40
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 600W
Case Fans: 2x Corsair AF140L
Should cost under $800 and will be faster than the other build above.
@@truereaper4572 thanks
@@truereaper4572is 16gb ddr4 enough in 2023/24
Ryzen 5600, a cheap B550 mobo, cheap Silicon Power RAM (3200/3600MHz and CL 16), 1-2 TB PCIe 3.0 drive like a 670p, look for 6700XT especially used so you can get them under $300, and don't skimp on PSU quality. A RM750e/x or something similar.
2-5 years 😆 bruh my CPU is from 2014 and my ram is 2133mhz. Still runs games on medium high on 1440p 🤷
and its just me and my ddr3 ram looking each other
Ddr4 has still at least 3-4 year lifespan, until we see big diffrence between d4 and d5.
In my country the 4060 8gb price is at the same price as a 3060 12gb what should i get?
Valid points.. Let DDR5 drop in price a bit more. Sad AM4 didn't support it.
You meant to say 10+ years, most people pc can last as long as they do, as long as they kept maintaining it like a toyota camry
Damn u already built it but I need new memory too bad it’s already arriving tomorrow
I would say it depends what kind of games you will desire to play. If it’s only old or Minecraft, and never playing new AAA games, go with AM4 lol
Even if DDR6 released, You would still see people using DDR4.
The prices on ebay are higher than the prices from buying new.
AM5 would have been half the budget of my 450€ build (rx6600 & ryzen 5600), but I also would have gone with it if I had the extra €
@@ediblepinevideos alright thanks
Build a system for a specific resolution & monitor play Hz & use whatever hardware can achieve good performance at that level for a price that you can stomach. Then, you never have to upgrade the PC, assuming that you play within those build parameters.
He’s saying this because it’s easier (price wise) for him to get im on DDR4 and it runs smooth. It’s really down to your Ram (16gb and up) GPU especially and at least intel I6 and up
Me with my DDR6 (first gaming pc) under 700 dollars.
still using ddr2 and works like shit😃
Still chilling with ddr3
basically, if you're gonna spend hella money on a top-of-the-line i9, it'd be pretty stupid to not go with DDR5
conversely, if you're running an i5, DDR4 is probably the more sensible option
i would recommend ddr4 if you have a budget of $3000 or less and want aesthetics and performance because ddr4 has a bigger variety in components and more affordable then ddr5.
3000 usd? Ddr5 is the smart choice
