- Disclaimer: It sucks to video my husband while he is in pain - however, we have helped a lot of people with this rare pain disease through our videos.
That being said, if you SEE YOURSELF in this video, know that Adhesive Arachnoiditis IS diagnosable by MRI, but the doctor has to know what they are looking for and unfortunately, the vast majority of doctors do not know what it is.
I would research Dr. Forest Tennant's work. He spent 20 plus years studying this disease and we were fortunate to find him and be treated by him before he retired. Here is a video to start with • Adhesive Arachnoiditis...
As far as medications, everyone is so different, but one medication that is not traditionally given anymore but works AMAZING for AA is injectable Ketorolac (Toradol). This is an anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen, but much stronger. AA reacts very negatively to inflammation in the body, so anything that can be done to reduce inflammation is key. Ketorolac can be hard on the liver so doctors shy away from it, but Dan has taken it for years without any impact that way...they blood test him regularly to make sure his liver is good.
I have MS, which is also an inflammatory disease, and when I stick to this diet www.swankmsdiet... it is NIGHT AND DAY difference in how I feel. Dan has not successfully stuck to this diet to see how it impacts his pain lol...but we try to eat minimal foods that cause inflammation.
Dan also takes Gabapentin which helps and he has a Baclofen pump. This is something that they did not think would help him, but when they did a trial, it relieved so much pain that he had it put in. Unfortunately, it doesn't relieve all the pain like the trial did, but it does drastically improve it.

It hurts my heart for all of you. The fact there is nothing you can do for him... I understand what it is like to battle through pain. Not Dan's pain but many struggle similarly. This is strength from your whole family during these moments. My battle began at 19. I was a passenger in a high speed crash. Years of Dr's therapy & drugs. Lots of tears & screams of frustration. Today at 45 I have been free from meds & most of the pain for 5 years. It sounds like forever but it's only a blip. Keep up the HARD work! Baclofen was a God send for years. Don't push too hard to get off. Congrats on getting off gabapentin. That stuff is pure evil. It made things worse with rebound pain. Dr's lie sometimes or just don't know better. i see you were on Gabapentin... i got off of it because it messed with my memory but it really helped with my hypersensative skin..and the bad cramps in my legs... wish the Doctors would have told me more about the side affects...
It's so hard to have chronic pain! But the extent of yours breaks my heart. Then to watch all you do for your family, makes me fight through mine to do more!! Keep on inspiring, we see & act.

I absolutely hate to see Dan in such pain. He is the most courageous man I have ever seen.
Its so painful yet I think necessary for the world to see what you go through just to live. And live you do, your life to the fullest. I also look at the the scrapes, scratches & bruises on your legs which I'm sure you got from all the amazing tough physical labour you accomplish every single day. Just know that you are a source of inspiration to so many of us. But also know that if sometimes you have bad days that's perfectly ok as well. I deal with on and off severe ptsd and hppd. When I first saw you two, I really prayed for you two to know God, and a couple videos later I saw that you both did. And the amount of joy was so amazing. It also helps me to know that I wouldn't be a detriment to a woman, and I would do all that I can to serve God and her. I have been with many people in pain… not even a fraction of his pain and they are cranky & even mean to people around them! You are extraordinary! The Lord is using you as an example for us all ! I have a friend paralyzed, and one with Parkinson’s and medical marijuana and oils help them tremendously. You might want to see if it’s a option for you. Can’t imagine your suffering. Prayers and love for you Dan and your beautiful wife and family💯❤️🙏🏻

I’m so sorry for all that you and your family are going through, I must say you have a beautiful family!! I have neuropathy, to me it’s bad, I can’t imagine what your pain is! My go to is “ calm the brain, calm the pain “ , that’s what I call it , aside from the medication I’m on, whenever I feel pain and stress, I put my ear buds in and listen to my favorite songs, for me it seems to help of course 80’s music is my favorite and always takes me back home to much simpler times! Nerve pain from a spinal cord injury is the worst ever. I suffer from it 24/7 from a T9 SCI post motorcycle accident in 2013. Now wheelchair ambulated. A recent spinal MRI indicated showed scarring/narrowing around my C5 vetebrae suggestive of Adhesive Arachnoiditis BUT I've been told by several leading Australian Spinal Surgeons that Adhesive Arachnoiditis cannot be diagnosed with absolute certainty through current Radiology only via, unfortunately, a post mortem as the procedure in which to test for AA is extremely invasive and risky. AA may cause nerve pain but is not the single cause and does not cause spasms. Whilst I have a preliminary but unconfirmed AA diagnosis, my nerve pain is from T9 SCI and pelvic nerve root evulsion. Curious about Dan's AA diagnosis vs nerve pain. Either way, its sucks, its debilitating, life altering, it's agony and has no cure😕 I was on Opioid meds for years, good ol Fentanyl, Dilaudid, Gabapentin, etc. I stopped taking all of them, went through the horrible withdrawals, and had ZERO affect on my pain. Go figure!🤷♀️Stay strong my friend. You are a warrior, a survivor and an inspiration. I'm so sorry your experiencing this pain. What a beautiful family you have. Cheers🇦🇺

I don't know if it would treat his condition, but many people with severe nerve pain have gotten relief from it.

Everyday as I watch Dan he is a strong man and pray that he will get better but till then I will respect him so much and more.

I'm so sorry you got to go through that brother before it started happening to me I will pray for you so much and now it's happening to me I know you're at like stage 4 I'm only a stage 2 going to 3 and it's the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life and I could just imagine with I'm so sorry you have to go through but you've always had my prayers but now especially you that I really feel and what you're going through I don't think no one can understand this pain
