I agree that pot manufacturers need to make matching saucers to match the pot…it’s a must! Also, there should be a drainage hole in every pot made! One of my pet peeves is to fall in love with a pot only to find out there is no drainage hole. I will not drill my own any longer as I’ve ruined too many pots attempting it…yes I use the correct drill bit but that’s no guarantee.
I know I’m in the minority here, but I actually prefer ceramic pots without drainage holes. I keep all of my houseplants in plastic nursery pots and then just skip those in the pretty ceramic pots. I like it this way because I like to bottom water my plants and if the ceramic pots don’t have holes, I can water them all in place.
Funny how many houseplants do just fine without a bottom hole! I have plenty of both, pots with holes and those with none. I think it’s good to be more flexible and thoughtfully care for whatever the plants need. And a lovely china plate is a great underpot protector for those that might leak a little
I find I have uses for both types of pots - with and without drain holes. I have some ceramic pots that I painted and glazed myself. Those have holes and matching saucers, but that’s a rare situation. It’s true also that I have bought a beautiful container without holes, and those I don’t risk drilling but use to put a plant inside in its nursery can and water from the bottom. I put a few stones or marbles in to keep it from sitting in water all the time. It all depends on the plant and the situation. Cost of the container is also a variable.
I love the idea of Laura making her own pot and saucer line. I like to use a piece of window screen in the bottom of my pots so water goes through but not the soil. It last a long time and I use it over and over.
Make sure the bottom of the saucers are ultra smooth. It's not such a great thing if they can scratch nice wood surfaces or countertop surfaces. Whenever I buy a kitchen item (cups, dishes, etc) I always make sure the bottom is smooth, even with bakeware.
My husband and I so enjoyed watching your father!! I can't wait to hear from him again!❤️ He's a great example of what a father /husband /gentleman should be ❤. Let's meet Joe,, Laura's brother too🙌😁.. Aaron's mom would also be great
Laura has talked about Joe a few times over the years. Especially when they have been at the community college in their town, planting the flower bed there. Joe teaches there.
I loved Aaron's face when the question was asked about the missing fence behind the greenhouse. I noticed awhile ago that your neighbors rv and carport were gone and asked about it, but I think Aaron must have been ignoring my question. 😅 can't wait to see what's up.
Hahahaha, that look on Laura's face when Aaron says that she can grow all their annuals, as well, all the other seed starting she does....OMG I busted out laughing. Reign it in boy, mama has enough on her plate, she doesn't need to become a grower now too😂
2nd video, I've been trying to watch this recap for about 3 hours. My older sister always calls me 10 to 20 times a day, I'm not kidding. She has stage 4 kidney cancer and it is all. throughout her little body. She's been fighting it for over 2 years. She takes 2 chemo pills a day everyday since she was diagnosed. Plus she does a infusion every 3 weeks, through her port She is the most strongest person I've ever scene. We are not giving up She has so much faith, God does heal every second of everyday and night. She had the cancer eat through her leg, the biggest bone in our bodies and we had to travel over 50 miles to the hospital. I have never in my life scene anyone in my life, scream and cry and Pray than she did on the way to the hospital. And about 3 months ago the cancer ate through her little arm almost her shoulder and she's been in the hospital twice in the last month with phmonia. But the little thing is back home now cooking and cleaning and doing laundry. Please help me Pray for her everyone that reads this. I thank God everyday for healing her. Not to heal her but for healing her. It just breaks my heart into for her to have to suffer so much. Now I forgot what I got on here to say. I'm 64 and she's 66. We both love flowers so much and I tell her about Laura and Aaron all the time a a few more people I watch. She takes up all my time, but im just glad I can still talk to her. I'm so sorry I put all this on here but more people that are Praying for all the old evil cancer just to go away with whoever is fighting it in the whole world the better.
About the pot size thing. If you upshift a plant to too big of a pot, when you water the plant, the soil in the empty space that has no roots will stay wet for too long. It creates a perfect condition for root rot. If you plant a plant in the ground, the water will dissipate out beyond the roots and drain.
I absolutely love Aaron’s enthusiasm with all things!! I’ve never had my husband suggest adding on to the house…putting up another greenhouse, etc.. 😂 I’m sure I’m not alone. Thank you both for bringing so much knowledge and just pure joy!!
These recaps are so fun and helpful. Until a recent video, I didn’t realize that Ken was Aaron’s brother. It’s great that your channel has provided employment for family members.
How did your Thanksgiving hosting go? When you mentioned your parents spent the night with the kids while you had a date night I thought what a nice little get away for them as well. They probably appreciated waking up to coffee ☕️ in a kitchen as opposed to their basement. I’m praying all goes well with the remainder of their remodel, not only for their sake but I’m so excited to see the progress. I just love the remodel process, can’t wait to see the cupboards and flooring going in. Thank your Dad for his time the other day, what a lovely life he’s made. He’s so humble and always gives his wife so much credit. ❤
I like your idea about you guys taking days off (paid for team members) for Christmas and New Years for family time and relaxation. I’ll watch reruns if I miss you all too much. ❤❤❤
Would love it if you added a GA yearly planner and a calendar to your store! Nicole at Flower Hill Farm does a calendar. It would be nice to have pictures of your garden to look at all year long. 😊
This recap video 12/17 was a true winner. Enjoyed every single aspect of it. Thank you for the content and the Garden Answer fans who submitted great questions. Your lead in to Christmas is precious. We're all thankful to you and Aaron for your wonderful videos with great content and that you share so much of your lives and family with the rest of us. Merry Christmas! ❤🌲❤
I used biotone starter on my amaryllis bulbs. They are budding at a much faster rate than last years bulbs. I purchased the same bulbs this year from the same supplier as last year. I call that a Garden Answer Win!
A saucer movement! Genius! I agree with you. Having a plastic pot saucer under a gorgeous pot just takes away from the beauty of the pot! Love the idea of your own line.
After weeks of rain here in the UK, this morning I managed to do some more gardening, as I'm trying to get everything planted asap. Came indoors just in time for your video. I'm the viewer that like your brother, Joe, also has a photographic memory, and as a Genetic Genealogist and History lover, I know from which ancestor, I've inherited is DNA. I messaged you about it.
that’s fascinating about photographic memory, is it passed down through DNA? I’m in Ireland and this little dry spell was so needed last week, I still have a few bulbs left to put in the ground - it’s no fun planting bulbs in our rain and muck!
I absolutely agree with this saucer movement.😂 You should see mine. Dollar store dishes and most don't match. Love, love, love all of your Family videos as well. Have to say just loved your Dad's interview and can't wait for your round table with all of you. Beautiful Family! Merry Christmas to all of you with so much love, light and prayers.❤
I feel that you and yours are among the Level Headed Americans. You make the World Shine and Safe. Thank you so much. Happy Christmas. From a Fidele English Lady. Living in France.
I am SO EXCITED for next year’s projects on GA!!! The twinkle in your eyes and the secretive smiles have really got me guessing what you guys are planning 🤔 One thing I see happening is expanding your store and adding things you really love and use. I think it would be neat if you offered seeds and roots etc from your gardens, you could employ someone to help you with it therefore creating a job for someone 😊
I believe they call a glasshouse attached to a house, a conservatory. Not sure where you would put it, but it would be beautiful on the side of the house, looking out to the Hartley, light/sun permitting. Love the update. Merry Christmas 🎄💖
Living in Georgia, roses are proned to black spots. Guess it's the high humidity. I learned from you to water below and not above on a lot of my plants. And that has really helped. Your roses are beautiful.
I'm with you Laura: once Christmas gifts and breakfast are done, the decorations start to come down. I definitely don't turn on outdoor light after Christmas. I love the refresh of post-Christmas cleanup/takedown 🌲
Good morning from Missouri! The deer will be back, and more will follow . Trail cams are nice, but the bucks will run their antlers on your trees and ruin, if not kill, the trees, good luck!
Hi Laura and Aaron! We built a small sandboxe for our kids with 4x4 (2 rows), and they played in it for many years! I think it would be totally worth it to have another larger one outside! They would love it for sure! We also loved to play with them and build larger castles or tunnels with wet sand!
Laura, have you taught your kids how to make mud pies? You have the perfect dirt for it (I know, growing up near you. That powder white dirt). My recipe: mound up a volcano shape of loose dirt and carefully make a crater in the top. Gently trickle water into the crater and let it sit long enough for the water to soak it and get a little stable. Then gently remove the loose dirt from around the wet dirt and it results in little mud “dishes”. You can set them out to dry. You can make large and small sizes. Add berries, pebbles, leaves, flowers or flower petals to decorate at any stage in the process. Of course this is more of a summer project, but I was reminded of hours of childhood fun when someone commented about making a bigger more permanent sand box. The dirt land would be a perfect place for mud pies without any formal preparation needed.
Listening to Laura and Aaron talk about what other products and items they can add to the store makes me so excited! Now if only they had gift cards for their store!!! 🤩 A gift card for their store would be my only item on my wish list! 😄
Our family also does stocking gifts for each other, but we just contribute 2-3 items for each person (all the same). It’s fun to see what each family contributes and everyone gets a variety of things. 🎄🎅🏻
I can't wait for the Felco taking apart and giving-- it -some- love video. I've gotten a Felco sharpener and used it a few times...but I've not taken them completely apart yet! So I need your help. Good winter activity. Thanks again to both of you for all the fantastic information and help. Merry Christmas!!
I use that open weave style drywall tape to close the holes in my pots. It holds the soil in, yet the holes in the weave are plenty large enough to keep the pot from getting clogged up. It works beautifully and I have been using the same roll of tape for literally years.
Funny story! When you were talking about your children singing, it reminded me of when my son was small when we would go to a restaurant and when he went into the restroom he would sing like an opera singer! I remember one time when he was walking back to the table the customers clapped for him he loved it and smiled he was around 5 or 6 at the time!
I live in Minnesota and I leave my Christmas decorations up until after Super Bowl. Our winter is sooo long and everything looks sooo bare, that this bit of color and brightness makes everything more warm and cozy. I take down stockings and Santa decor, but I feel the rest can stay, especially since it’s just my husband and myself. Fortunately we are on the same page. When the decorations are put away, the plastic jugs and grow lights come out for Season Pre-Spring. Thanks to you, I have a whole new season to look forward to.
Beautiful work, Kendall. Suggestion offer a one on one class to teach clients how to finish a quilt and use your flimsiest. Of course you would charge for this tutoring.
I have never done anything when gathering pinecones either and have never had a problem. Love your videos - start my days watching you all. Merry Christmas to you and your families ❤
I am so grateful for all the hard editing work on the overhead map of the property video because it was a favorite of mine this year. Watched it a few times, the before and afters were so very cool. Very inspiring.
I’m not sure how long I’ve been watching every day but I know it’s been a couple years. When you mentioned the installation of the patio at your brother Joe’s house, I realized I never saw that so I just watched that one. Loved it! Now I’m curious what other videos I missed 😍😂
I would love to have a Hoselick. We have a new lawn and garden in our retirement years, and this looks like a breeze to use and put away! Love your videos.
Thank you in advance for showing how to take apart & sharpen Felco pruners. My daughter and I made wreaths using your instructions (they turned out great) but were noticing how rusty our Felcos were. Perfect timing for us!
I had my first pair of Felcos this past spring summer as I got them for Christmas last year. They need a good clean so a video would be amazing. Love your channel and all that you do to inspire us gardeners.
I purchased two Hoselinks this year and they really made watering easy again. Both nozzles had a part break but Hoselink immediately replaced them with zero hassle. I may buy a third as they worked out so well.
As well as being patriotic, your kids are, sweet, kind, smart, beautiful and loving. I'm sure there are many more things to list but you get the point. I love them both!💕🎄💕
I’m surprised you didn’t include the Q & A video with your dad! It was wonderful getting to know him and more of your parents’ story. Having a production greenhouse like Aaron mentioned would take away some of Laura’s excitement of plant deliveries. Growing is fun but there’s a lot of instant pleasure from being able to plant gorgeous plants you just received. As well as the excitement of surprise shipments from growers.
But he's probably also thinking of costs...plants are a big part of their annual budget so the more they can grow themselves the more money they wd have for savings/major home reno project.
Good morning Laura and Aaron! Take the time off you need and enjoy this precious family time with your family. And a big thank you to hose link for the many give aways they have done this year. Hugs from N.C..❤
Always a good morning hearing you two talk and banter. We leave Christmas up til the tree gets dry. I have always enjoyed cleaning up after Christmas day, and just relaxing with the decor. You should do what is right for you thkugh.
I've read that the roots circling around inside the pot is one reason shrubs get "choked" and die (even after in-ground planting), particulary arborvitae. I suppose because as the roots get larger and woodier they eventually girdle the trunk.
Yep, I bought all the fixings when I utilized your recent sale - on one of the falco shears there's a video of Laura cleaning up the sheers and using the oil and grease that was super helpful - maybe other people watched that as well and threw things in their cart? The video is from a few years back - super excited to get an updated video, the former one is so helpful!
I’ve used window screen cut to size in the bottom of my pots for years and it works perfectly for holding in soil while allowing for maximum drainage. And I agree every pot needs a saucer - finding them can be a bear!
Aaron and Laura, the video with the recap of all of your named gardens was really informative and fun. I know it was super hard to edit with all the before and after shots but it was so worth it. Thank you!
Good morning! Another fun recap. Love the banter between you guys! So some more exciting garden projects coming this Spring, looking forward to seeing what!!
The Laura edition pots and saucers are an awesome idea! Thanks for the wonderful videos! A hose link or 4 for Christmas sounds amazing for my 1/4acre garden!
I agree about the saucers...why dont the manufacturers make gray one to match their pots?yes Laura you should start a GA line of pots❣️love your videos 💕
You guys are so cute! The interview with your dad made me cry . You running out to meet your dad brings back memories when my kids were little. You are blessed .
I found a helpful video on YT of a lady talking about pests showing us what's wrong in our garden. She said we need to treat the plant by providing what it needs instead of the pests. The pests are a warning sign and not only that, they are food for beneficials. For example - aphids are telling you there is too much nitrogen in your soil. I had a bad aphid infestation on a brand new loquat tree I planted and was about to start treating with Neem until I found her video. Instead I left it alone, fertilized it with rich compost. Clovers popped up all around the root system and I let those grow to aid in the nitrogen fix. 4 weeks later and now ladybugs have arrived to clean up the aphids, the plant is almost completely aphid free and it's pushing out new growth even in December like crazy. I am so happy I didn't treat it and instead focused on the health of the plant/soil to solve the issue!
The potting project on “size” planter would be great! I added a pomegranate tree from the nursery into a pot and hoping that it will be fine. I’ve decided to leave it as is and I’ll see how it goes.
That's a mission for you Aaron, you need to contact the pot makers and make a deal with them, let them know how much their missing out on by not making saucers to match their pots . We will all back you up 👍🙂
Too funny...I've been going to ask questions on several of your videos and literally they all got answered here. Thanks Aaron, I was going to ask about Wilt Stop. Also, thanks again to Hose Link!
Always great to see the recap and questions you answer. Aaron was so funny, winking about the future plans, etc. I think it could be a hard sale with Laura to get a production greenhouse.
Kudo's to you and Aaron for all of the gifts you get for everyone. My husband and I have one grandson and he's the only one we get gifts for. Several years ago, my grown children asked if we could stop exchanging gifts. It was getting harder and harder to choose gifts for each other and they said that Christmas should just be about getting together with family and not stressing over what gift to buy. My husband and I also stopped exchanging gifts with siblings over 30 years ago for the same reason.
Yes pots with matching saucers and as always I enjoy watching your videos and recaps. It always gives me motivation to work on my garden more and try new things.😊
Plants, trees, and shrubs do not read their tags and don't know they're supposed to stop growing at a specific height. The size provided is the size it's able to be maintained at without causing detrimental issues. Which also means that it's going to take work to maintain it at that size. But everything will always continue to grow.
I really loved that rustic style of terra cotta pot you used in that video. We need to create a # for your #PotsWithSaucers movement! Well, there I did it.
I love all your videos and get so much inspiration and knowledge from them. Have you ever heard of a fertigator for fertilizing? You install it inline into your landscape water system and fill it with liquid fertilizer and it fertilizes while watering. You can adjust how much to release or turn off altogether. I have one on my 2 1/2 acre property in the high desert of California and it has been a game changer for me.
Aaron hit the nail
In the head! Laura’s affordable pots (small, medium, large and extra large) with saucers!!!!
I agree that pot manufacturers need to make matching saucers to match the pot…it’s a must! Also, there should be a drainage hole in every pot made! One of my pet peeves is to fall in love with a pot only to find out there is no drainage hole. I agree.
Garden Answer line of pots please!!!
I use drywall tape, looks like screen and its on a roll
Make sure the bottom of the saucers are ultra smooth. It's not such a great thing if they can scratch nice wood surfaces or countertop surfaces. Whenever I buy a kitchen item (cups, dishes, etc) I always make sure the bottom is smooth, even with bakeware.
Love this idea too since she has great taste.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!

It’s a lot of work and those vegetive cutting all need growth regulator and babying. Take it from someone who grows this stuff
Yeah, there's no way she'd stay on top of the feeding and watering schedule that actual growers provide to plug plants. No. Way. lol
I'm so sorry I put all this on here but more people that are Praying for all the old evil cancer just to go away with whoever is fighting it in the whole world the better.
I will pray
Thinking of you!❤
Thinking of you and your sister.
Praying for your sister, you and your family ❤
A new addition to my list. Love to you and your sister.
About the pot size thing. If you upshift a plant to too big of a pot, when you water the plant, the soil in the empty space that has no roots will stay wet for too long. It creates a perfect condition for root rot. If you plant a plant in the ground, the water will dissipate out beyond the roots and drain.
Also regular soil is loaded with microbes that move moisture around which doesn’t happen as much with soiless mixes
Yes, these are the answers.
I absolutely love Aaron’s enthusiasm with all things!! I’ve never had my husband suggest adding on to the house…putting up another greenhouse, etc.. 😂 I’m sure I’m not alone. Thank you both for bringing so much knowledge and just pure joy!!
I hope you and your employees take as much time as you need to enjoy the holidays! You all work so hard, you have more than earned it!
These recaps are so fun and helpful. Until a recent video, I didn’t realize that Ken was Aaron’s brother. It’s great that your channel has provided employment for family members.
Wow, I had no idea that Ken was Aaron's father !
When did Aaron say Ken was his brother?
I don’t think that’s correct. I think he just has his sister, Alyssa (not sure how it’s spelled)
Hmmm, now I wonder about Ken and if he is or isn't Aaron's brother
When was that said? I can't remember hearing that, but interesting to say the least.
How did your Thanksgiving hosting go? When you mentioned your parents spent the night with the kids while you had a date night I thought what a nice little get away for them as well. 29:03 OMG Aaron's wink was HILARIOUS I was laughing for an hour 😭😭😭😭
I'm guessing that "nothing" is in the works around the pond area 😆

:" Mending Wall by Robert Frost "Good Wall make Good Neighbors" I had to memorize that poem in 5th grade. It's a wonderful poem.

The story about Benjamin loving Jennifer Hudson and learning The Star Spangled Banner made my heart smile! What a dear boy!❤❤❤
Hi Laura snd Aaron
I believe the proverb is "A hedge between keeps friendships green" ❤
Good morning from Missouri! The deer will be back, and more will follow . Trail cams are nice, but the bucks will run their antlers on your trees and ruin, if not kill, the trees, good luck!

They would love it for sure! We also loved to play with them and build larger castles or tunnels with wet sand!
My mother did the same then after we grew up she still put new sand every summer for our cocker Patty to lie in beneath the lilacs
I love Garden Answer and thank you so much for bringing us along!

They do sell garden answer gift cards on their website
@@joannerobinson4037 🙌🏽 Thank you!
Love the recaps. It is so fun to watch you both and hear you interaction as you answer questions. Thank you for doing these.
I use that open weave style drywall tape to close the holes in my pots. It holds the soil in, yet the holes in the weave are plenty large enough to keep the pot from getting clogged up. It works beautifully and I have been using the same roll of tape for literally years.
I love buying pots that have the saucers attached. Makes my life so much easier! 😁
My local garden radio show says plants don’t read tags… they keep growing past their estimated size 😊
You are so right. Saucers are very needed for house plants.
Yes please start a saucer movement. Thank you for all your goodness and helpful wisdom! 🌳🌲💚
Thank you in advance for showing how to take apart & sharpen Felco pruners. My daughter and I made wreaths using your instructions (they turned out great) but were noticing how rusty our Felcos were. Perfect timing for us!
Yes please create your own line of pots with matching saucers ❤
Make pot feet also
I had my first pair of Felcos this past spring summer as I got them for Christmas last year. They need a good clean so a video would be amazing.
Love your channel and all that you do to inspire us gardeners.
There is a video from a few years ago. It really helped me to understand the maintenance needed
I love them both!💕🎄💕
I would join the saucer movement Laura!
Yes, please. Show us how to clean and care for our garden tools!! 🙏🏼😊♥️
They film the recaps on Thursdays so the video with her dad will be included next week.
Totally agree about the saucers. I have some very old pots but no saucers! Love you guys!
I bought myself 2 hoselinks. I love them! I will buy gnatrol when you've gotten it added to your store. Y'all are amazing!!
This is amazing video sharing dear friend ❤️
Thanks for sharing this with us
See you again take care ❤️
Keep intouch ❤️👍
Always a good morning hearing you two talk and banter. We leave Christmas up til the tree gets dry. I have always enjoyed cleaning up after Christmas day, and just relaxing with the decor. You should do what is right for you thkugh.
Center piece was so beautiful. Nice job, Laura ❤❤❤
editing ...WOW n everyone thinks this comes soooo easy ....lots time spent n it shows great videos ...most enjoyable
I've read that the roots circling around inside the pot is one reason shrubs get "choked" and die (even after in-ground planting), particulary arborvitae. I suppose because as the roots get larger and woodier they eventually girdle the trunk.
Christmas celebrations in unfinished reno spaces can be so much fun!! My in laws did this a few times and it was a blast.🎉
Yes we need matching pot trays. So glad you got away❤
I'm with Laura. I would always buy a matching saucer if a new pot I'm purchasing came with one or was available separately.
In England we call those attached "sun rooms" Conservatories. Thank you for such a great series.
You guys are so cute! The interview with your dad made me cry . You running out to meet your dad brings back memories when my kids were little. You are blessed .
You are going to end up with a huge merch store providing employment for half of Ontario! Felcos, plants, gnat control, you name it, We've got it!
Totally enjoyed your interview with your dad. It was fun and informative.
The potting project on “size” planter would be great! I added a pomegranate tree from the nursery into a pot and hoping that it will be fine. I’ve decided to leave it as is and I’ll see how it goes.
Thanks for the tip of not topping the arborvitaes! 🎄🎄🎄
You can use a piece of window screen to help keep the soil from coming out of the bottom of the flower pot.
I found Gnatrol in smaller quantities (1 ounce and up) online at Organic BTI. I bought 8 ounces for $42 .
My husband just bought me one for Christmas with plans to buy another soon! Can’t wait to see how much easier life is with these!
It sounds like your brother got the best of both of your parents ❤
Love the idea of a video of plant suggestions for decor!
I was scanning your videos for the gnat control product name and low and behold it came up today . Thank you to the person that asked !❤🎄
Both of you have a twinkle in your eye when “next year” is mentioned! 🎶anticipation 🎶! Merry Christmas and a very exciting Happy New Year 🎉
