The method would remove the victim's face/head and replaced it with a emotionless screen, they would also remove the victim's hands as well as erasing the victim's personality. Before the procedure Shockwave was on the Cybertronian Senate, he was a pretty nice guy, he was subject to Empurata because his ideals conflicted with the Sentinel's ideals, the then Prime at the time. Other bots I know who were subject to the same treatment were Whirl and I believe Glitch.
