WHY all of this kind of complilations never regards the chronological order of the compositions? The end result of the absolutely arbitrary mixing is so confusing...
Love the works for winds - very lively and full of character. Takes me back to hearing Stravinsky's "Symphonies of Wind Instruments" for the first time.
Grazie! Bellissima e interessante raccolta di brani musicali da ascoltare coon calma. Stasera ho ascoltato 'Pavane, Trio for oboe. Flute sonata allegro e Cantilena e oboe sanata scherzo.
2:49:49 wht an elegie-can't wait to play through the piano part and try to hum the melody, thanks so much for this very amazing and extremely meaningful music in a time where possible previous pain was not sufficiently mourned.
Thank you very much! Very interesting. It seems it would be useful, in addition to interestingness, if compositions’ titles at the headline timecode post were provided with the date (year) of their birth (creation).
Carl B. Schmidt's book The Music of Francis Poulenc lists 3 versions by the composer of these pieces, which were written in 1918 (rev. 1939 & 1962): 1. piano; 2. chamber orchestra (by Sept. 1925); 3. nine instruments (arr. 1946); version #3 is heard here. There are also arrangements by other hands for violin & piano, symphonic wind band, wind Instruments & percussion, and winds. Schmidt's catalogue (Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1995) is an indispensible resource for anyone who wants to explore Poulenc's music in depth.
How utterly boring and stale classical music would be without this "disharmony" and "cacophony". No one demands that anyone listen to anything they don't like. Think I will go to a YT recording of "The Blue Danube Waltz" and whine about how much I hate it...
I agree. Status is only granted to artists that are breaking some rule or tradition. You’re supposed to love the banging pots and pans and say something witty about it, but it really is just jarring. An extension of deconstruction as a way of life since the end of WWII. He’s not as bad as some, much of it is tolerable at least, but I see what you are onto, and I’m glad you said it Roger.

Only really knew Poulnec for his Nocturnes and his Melancolie for piano. Thank you for this collection of his wonderful compositions.
Around the 23:00 mark, sounds like he sampled Scriabins Piano Concerto
I couldn't find a better version of Poulencs Suite Francaise. Bravo
I bought it and am enthralled. Thank you very much for compiling and releasing. Fantastic works and excellent interpretations.

As original a composer as almost anyone I can think of. And always interesting.
Poulenc never disappoints
명실상부 20세기 최고의 작곡가 중 한명이 아닐까 싶다. 그의 독특한 화성법과 서정적인 멜로디는 듣는 이들로 하여금 매번 새로운 감정을 실어주는 듯 하다.
Les Six rises again! Great performance and recording.
Fantastica obra, mezcla de impresionismo y mucho humor. Gracias por compartir
the cappriccio sounds and looks like so much fun to play, thanks

Francis Poulenc (1899-1963)
Probably the most important composer of the silent movie era...comments?
What was that American 1950's girl group song that the chorus always sounded like they were singing "Poulenc Poulenc" to me?
Lovely! But why is this tagged as baroque? Not even remotely baroque. Might be good to clarify for people who are trying to learn more about music.
I really like the orchestration of the Mouvements Perpetuels! Is it the composer's, or whose? I couldn't find it on IMSLP.
Its a combination of beautifully composed pieces by Francis Poulenc and a great artist team. All the artists are in the description of our video!

This imho is great music to accompany reading a good book...
Did you forget to name the artist for clarinet?
Hi Alex, thank you for noticing! We have updated the description.

This composers music is (in my view) disharmonious! This is one of the products of the modern era-unmelodious cacophony!
