We live in interesting times. I started film photography back in the late 70s. Back then, the cameras didn't make as much difference - we all had our favorites, but generally it came down to what we could afford. The biggest "arguments" and "influencers" (Camera magazines) came down to what film to use, and what chemicals with which to process that film. Today, cameras differ by sensors and image processors - very different, and yet, in some ways the same. To me, the worst videos are the "shill videos" based on who sponsors them, and the video influencers who change gear every 6 months and tell us why they are "leaving" a brand (and sometimes only to come back to a brand a year or two down the road after changing sensor sizes several times!). YT, blogs, and other resources can all play a part, but as you note so well, the best you can do is decide based on a well-informed "you" - using good reasoning, and avoiding analysis paralysis! Cheers!
@@oldfilmguy9413 Indeed, this is one of the most well-thought-out, well-written replies I’ve ever received. The wisdom in this paragraph could benefit so many people. Honestly, it might be more impactful for one to read your paragraph rather than watch my video. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, and thank you for watching.
@@ScottymanPhoto Thank you for such a kind reply - your video makes so many good points, I hope it gets seen by many folks who need to realize it's okay to look past all the hype and decide what they really need. Cheers!
Thank you! Far too many folks are getting pulled into the internet hype. There’s a lot of good information on the internet, but it’s best to take it with a healthy dose of skepticism.
I just went experienced the process of upgrading to a new Camera, I studied RUclips and went through the pros / cons of suitable Cameras, It was obvious that some Influencers were swayed by brand and others by genre. Some so called experts pointed out problems which I considered operator controlled , I made my purchase based on my own experience and taking note of information gained from yourself and other RUclipsrs who wish to share their experience of photography & not push particular brands. The best camera you've got is the one in your hand for the shot. Enjoy your videos and Merry to you and yours from Australia.
What are your thoughts? I know this can be a touchy subject for some people.
Hi man. You are hitting the nail on the head. Many times Less-is-More.
