When we first got married, my husband thought he was the kind of person who just didn't care about interior design. But over the last 8 years, he's come to understand what he likes more and played a huge part in picking paint colors, furniture, and layout! People see the light blue cove ceiling in our home and think it must have been me, but he really championed the bolder and more saturated colors in our home. Even though they wouldn't have been my first choice, it's so special to have a home that's shaped by both of us :) Also, I avoided displaying photos of family or our wedding for YEARS because it always felt weirdly inauthentic and "shrine-y" when I saw a wedding or engagement gallery wall in someone's home, but you've opened my eyes to how displaying family photos can be so authentic and beautiful!
My best advice is remember these two rules: 1.) scientifically there are NO ugly or wrong colors, only ugly color combinations 2.) there are no ugly color combinations until a work is completely finished. What this means is that colors that aren’t working well together aren’t necessarily wrong choices, but rather haven’t been unified/bridged or balanced together. Knowing these two rules, adding color and personality into your space just takes some reckless abandon and knowing that your space likely won’t look good or put together until you move towards a finished look where you pull everything together. Being safe with color choices allows for a space to look ok or good through most the process, but in the end will feel safe and perhaps even boring. Adding personality through color involves often looking awkward or even bad, potentially even up to near the end, but you give yourself the space for it to look great in the end The lesson is take some time but not too much time to consider adding new colors, and go with what speaks to you, and then as you begin to play around, you can begin to think more critically about how to pull what you have together. Trust the process, essentially. Remember that a “wrong” choice you dislike may actually be one step away from greatness
Recently discovered this with adding a checked print curtain to my room that is green. I thought at first it stuck out like a sore thumb. Then, I added more things that are in the same colour in different tones and viola. It didn’t look so off anymore.
@ Tita, have to disagree here, when people are told, grey is on trend, and then they paint their house grey, and if that wasn’t depressing enough, they add grey furniture, accessories, etc …..smh
Have to tell you that my favorite gift from my husband this past Christmas was one of your pillows!! When I went to get one myself they were all sold out & I had no idea that he had written in his calendar when the drop was to order me one. 😭♥️
No love you's! One of the reasons I watch you is you don't fall into the hackneyed RUclips speak or themes. I think you ARE authentically you (as much as one can tell without knowing you personally and deeply) and even when I am not particularly drawn to the content or format of a particular video, I watch and enjoy because you stay true to yourself.
After years of making do in beige apartments, I was so happy to choose colors when I bought a house. The previous owners had painted most of the rooms one color, and it wasn't bad, but it's gone now. We have a limestone fireplace in the living room, and the pale minty color of the room did nothing for it. After I painted it olive green it was like POW--it looks so good and so cozy. At Christmas it's especially fabulous. I'm leaving these decorations up for a little while longer!
Paige, a while back you mentioned that you could share places to find large posters to help fill wall space when you can’t afford large art. I NEED this information!!
I love vintage-looking photography and just got 4 prints from a film photographer I found on Insta! She lets you choose the sizing! I got all of mine framed but you can get your own frames!
Confidence is also my biggest struggle and interestingly has gotten worse as I've started my 30's. I found this channel not too long ago and loved how authentic and confident Paige seemed. Isn't it funny how we look at people, like Paige, and assume they possess these things we so desperately want. I'm working on it by reminding myself that I don't have to be good at/interested in the things other people are. I am good, with qualities that attract others and bring them joy. Who I am, as I am, is enough. Cheers to the best year yet 🎉💕
Love your taste and videos. I feel like I know all the design things, but it’s fun to geek out with others who have good taste. My biggest pet peeve is going into a space and I can tell where everything came from, like Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Target. Also omg let’s talk personality. Seems like a lot of people don’t have it lol 😂 or they’ve succumbed to worrying about home resell value and the opinions of others. When I go into a space I want it to tell a story about who the occupant’s soul is! That’s what’s fun and interesting.
The “icky” side bar and being authentically you were so welcomed!! Also working on letting go and creating things that are true to me even if they aren’t what’s “popular”
Happy new year Paige! I feel like you could do (and i desperately need) a whole video on choosing matting/passepartout and frames for different pictures! Maybe with Kate :-)
*Authenticity* . Yes Ma'am! It's the most liberating and mentally healthy way to live, it has been for me. If you discover and embrace that mantra prior to age 50 in 2025, you go Girl! If someone had to write my obituary, I hope they would say; "She lived a humble life of service and adventure, embracing nature and creating a cozy home filled with things rustic, vintage and luxe sprinkled with Black Labrador glitter". Happy New Year Paige!
Colour is very personal. There are colours one person loves, which another would never use. My personal preference, is to always use colour in accents. I firmly believe that people get quite "bored" of colour very quickly. So leaving colour to accept peaces, allows you to "zhuzh" the space up, if you feel like you crave to update your space very easy. All of my big ticket items, like sofas, bookcases, flooring are always neutral. Colour is introduced by lampshades, art and textiles. Another fun way to add colour for people who are nervous introducing it to their homes, is painting the inside of your cupboards, bookcases and any unit with doors. There is something very fun about opening doors of your kitchen cupboard and being faced with a nice bright colour. No one but you might ever see it, but what matters is that every time when you open the doors, it sparks a little bit of joy in you! Colour can be fun, and does not have to be feared. A little bit of colour, can go a long way too, so don't feel like you suddenly have to change everything, or paint every wall in your house.
Fantastic Video and uplifting. I sometimes think I'm goofy with my many interests and agree with you that this will be a fun year! I'm excited for you and love your videos. It's incredible the photos you use as reference in explaining things about design. We share a lot of common interests, and I like the mix of vintage and new and I'm that 70% vintage and 30% new which I never heard said until you said it. It brings me joy to know I'm not alone. I agree with your partner analysis as well. I'm more of the art and design one than my wife and I'm very mindful to always make sure she is part of decision making. It works out good because I would just run wild in my home. She is Eastern European and grew up in Poland and then taught fashion design, seamstress and tailoring at a women's junior college there. We have been married thirty-nine years now. We are both very young at heart. She is not a collector like me but is understanding of that part of me. I grew up around design my entire life. I have always had an odd situation in life where I designed for high end companies in interiors, clothing and publishing but I'm not a consumer type of person of new things. I'm a vintage picker type. I would feel guilty often about designing to sell to the public something. It was always funny that other designers I would work with thought I was crazy for having those feelings. I found it all surreal when I would see my work in the marketplace. I can't explain that awkwardness about it, but I was good at making companies money. Art and design has been a journey for me and a winding one. It's kind of like being a good singer but don't like to perform. James Taylor the singer songwriter said this about himself in that he was always hesitant about that but it's what he does. A reluctant performer. Anyway...I'm a rambler too. I'm not happy about being that but my brain just works that way. I attached a couple videos of my former work as a designer. I'm an abstract painter now and oddly find success in that for some reason doors are opening with this new pursuit at age sixty - four. I guess we are never done learning and just when we think we know something we don't. Design is humbling. here's those videos- ruclips.net/video/KzgJ57BZacE/видео.htmlsi=M3OOM1uFCOqdniUt ruclips.net/video/Qp35BTvTfVw/видео.htmlsi=ZiGd3KumL6A4drbk
I like when you talked about incorporating your partners style. The home should feel like both peoples personality. Like you said, being open minded is key. Growing up my mom always chose the items in our house and I saw my dad put his taste to the side. I never felt like the house was balanced with their personal styles. Now that I’m married, I make efforts to listen to my partners opinion on design choices. He ends up pushing me out of my comfort zone and making the space more interesting! Plus men are so practical. It’s always helpful to have someone keeping the purpose in mind.
Feliz nuevo año from Ecuador Paige..Love your uniqueness, we have a lot in common decorwise but the funny thing is that I don't like fabrics in my decor and you are a master on that. Keep it real you are lots of fun.
Paige can you please do a video on how you make your floral arrangements? It always looks so effortless but I know you've put at least some thought into it lol
I like noticing your style and when you talk about an item here or there that is part of your personal style. I ALSO like that fashion and beauty items are not your main accord. 🎉❤😊
I respect it if you don’t feel drawn to making it but you genuinely inspire me in clothing, in personal style! So I would love to see a clothing video! Where you hunt, some pieces that you love, how you build an outfit, color pallets, etc… :)
Wishing you all the best in 2025 Paige! I’ll admit that I’m surprised about your “be myself” resolution. You come across as so authentic through RUclips but it’s funny how we can be ourselves publicly but not privately with those around us. Hope you find much love in your personal life! you deserve it!
Yes! I rent and am mostly too lazy/broke to paint/wallpaper so my color is mostly throw pillows, throws, art books, art, frames, etc… and also the coral colored table I use as a dining table (that Jenna Lyons had as a desk at j crew in like 2010 lol) it still rules. I love the sentimental rule I’m going to be doing a check
I like to keep my closet open to see the different fun pops of color from my clothes etc. and how it’s organized! I def agree that wardrobe can be tied into making your space look great 😊
i love displaying produce and fruit in cute bowls and i like hanging cute jackets and cardigans on a hook on my closet door, like art, as you said. :) this will be a great year for us :D
Yes, all my dishes and glasses are super colorful, they make me happy. The only way to truly live a full life and a happy one at that, is doing exactly what you like and how you like it, in every single part of it. Don't listen or pay attention to the ones that want you to do only what they want to do, and put you down for that.
Paige I love you! Was just rewatching old videos and then this popped up :)) super excited to see where the new year takes you! I’m moving apartments into a much bigger space soon so will be using a lot of your tips to create a beautiful space on a tight student budget!
@16:12: I’m the opposite. I don’t have clothing, shoes, hats, jewelry, perfume bottles, handbags, or accessories visible or on display. I don’t find it aesthetically pleasing. I do have my grandmother’s antique wood and brass coat tree in my living room. But I don’t put anything on it unless a guest comes over. If I have several people over, they can put their coats, shoes, and bags in the coat closet.
Loved these ideas and very much enjoy your tangents and ramblings... so you :D Paige... I hope you don't mind me asking, but where do you get your Inspo pics from? I never see anything like what you regularly share. Ive looked on Pinterest including your pins and don't see them (the majority) there, but there are def a few I want on my design board. Thanks :)
Yes, you have a personality. "You be you."... a phrase that never would have caught on in my generation (GenX) which was obsessed with appearing so cool that we didn't care or looking rich and successful. There is a manifesto going on in the neurodiversity world about Unmasking (not to diagnose you in any category); I see a general move toward Authenticity after years of being Influenced. Your Authenticity - not your style (although that is great too) is what draws in your viewers. It is your carrying card that will fascinate your future other. Even for women who are not disabled by ADHD/autism, we often mask, particularly around men, and wear the heck out. Come to my town near Evanston and we chat about this at our lovely brasserie.
Anyone ever told you that you look like the actress Kate Mara? I don't really watch tv anymore but man the resemblance is strong. Anyways, great video. 2025 is gonna be a year where I slowly overhaul my condo so I've been watching a bunch of vids to get ideas.
For me, part of being authentic is to stop exchanging gifts. One cannot be authentic when dedicating space to hide things you don't like, want or need, then pulling them out to display in an attempt to please the person who gave it to you. I cannot think of anything more inauthentic.
Aw, do a fashion video! You don't have to focus on your own closet but could collect images of looks that you would totally wear if money and resources were no object. Old and new paintings, photos, blogs, catalogs, magazines - that would bang.
On their IG stories today they're painting the floor of a garage/warehouse looking place. I def think they're going to open some sort of store or studio type thing!
“I like things to be natural and vegan if I’m taking them everyday” sounds like 2025 is the year you’re gonna watch Dominion on RUclips and become vegan ❤🐮🐷🐠🐔
I’d like to add someone else’s personality to my decor. My own isn’t that awesome. Someone funny, fascinating, interesting. Any tips Paige? Can I borrow yours? It would be very generous of you.
REQUEST: Hi Paige, if I could make a request; the censor bleep in your previous video is genuinely very unpleasant almost painful to me and some others. Would you consider using something softer please? thanks in advance :)
My boyfriend walked in when you were talking about incorporating your partner's style and he said "her content is so considerate"😉
This is so funny, idk why
Paige, your PERSONALITY is the main reason I watch. Definitely be yourself because you are delightful.

that quick "icky" side bar hit home recently thank you lol
paige.... i know you just said you wouldn't do a fashion video but i wish you would - i love your wardrobe
I just had that exact thought 😅
oh my god same i always look at her outfits like hmmmmmmm…might have to steal that
literally, that little compilation video when she was talking about all the things she's tried and taking risks had so many cute outfits!!
Ditto - I love your style & I bought those green and yellow NBs that you used to wear
?

I wrote the same on a video, agree so much!
My friend’s kitchen is that yellow-orange color and it’s delightful.
I loved the brimfield video!!
I'll get on board with the Year of Authenticity!

I am painting stars on my bathroom ceiling LOL I once was under the Milky Way it was amazing so I want this reminder. Plus I just like the idea of it.

@13:17: I have one of those polka dot vases. They were made in Peru. I got mine from Pier One about 23 years ago.

I started collecting glassware, not sure how, lol, but I love the bold colours of Dartington glass, especially against white walls…
I respect it if you don’t feel drawn to making it but you genuinely inspire me in clothing, in personal style! So I would love to see a clothing video! Where you hunt, some pieces that you love, how you build an outfit, color pallets, etc… :)

Love the room @1:42.
Paige I watch all your video's you always have good ideas, and I love your personality. !!!!!!!
Just want to tell you i love your newsletter!
Hell yeah, girl -- loving this vibe and your intention to give no f***s and be you. You're awesome. You inspire me more than you could know. 🌟
have you ever done a video on how you would decorate a kids room? i think that would be a fun video
Love the room @8:13. ❤
HAPPY NEW YEAR PAIGE :)
I have the piece from 14:30 - I found the image on Pinterest and did a google search, and I found it local for 40$ ☺️☺️
@16:12: I’m the opposite.
Happy new year! Love your videos and your personality. Looking forward to the new stuff happening!
A studio? A Was office? :D Happy new year anyway!
Thanks again for suggesting the art!( I'm an artist...);& I really like your mom's wise saying about the "icky"!
Loved these ideas and very much enjoy your tangents and ramblings... so you :D
Paige... I hope you don't mind me asking, but where do you get your Inspo pics from? I never see anything like what you regularly share. Ive looked on Pinterest including your pins and don't see them (the majority) there, but there are def a few I want on my design board. Thanks :)
So excited for WAS bedding
I found beautifully illustrated & photography coffee table books at our local thrift store! ( Miracle Hill; always a surprise)
We love you Paige. I’m taken but if I wasn’t I’d put A ring on it!
No way! My husband got me the same candlestick holder for Christmas, but it’s a cat instead! 😂😂
Yes! It IS going to be the best year of your life. And also of mine. LOL Great video.
definitely team buy the book for the cover, too. buy books period. i just dont want books and physical media to go away T_T
Love your content, Paige. Keep it up, please. Hope you have a blessed 2025!
The best year of your life YET 😎
Was bedding!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I would be cautious with the vintage dishes and test them for lead!
many are known to be lead free. There are lists of popular styles online that tell you if they are lead free.
Happy New Year Paige! 🧡🌿
Lots of great ideas.
Go Paige!!! ❤❤❤❤
These were awesome and helpful tips! Happy new year!
you always jumpscare us with the ads
For me, part of being authentic is to stop exchanging gifts. One cannot be authentic when dedicating space to hide things you don't like, want or need, then pulling them out to display in an attempt to please the person who gave it to you. I cannot think of anything more inauthentic.
Hot take: I RARELY like color drenching.
I have a daughter in law closet!
Is ‘was’ going brick and mortar?!✨
Aw, do a fashion video! You don't have to focus on your own closet but could collect images of looks that you would totally wear if money and resources were no object. Old and new paintings, photos, blogs, catalogs, magazines - that would bang.
Love you paige
Is Kate shipping to Canada? Would love to buy one of art/picture framed.
So pumped for 2025n
what’s the name of your sit-down chatty mic?
I am looking for tall shower curtains. I have 10 foot ceilings. Please tell me if you will make that size
Oh! Are you and Kate opening a store? You’re decorating it?
On their IG stories today they're painting the floor of a garage/warehouse looking place. I def think they're going to open some sort of store or studio type thing!
Will you make a video of any photos that subscribers send in? Would love to see what people are doing. xo
My word for the year is uninhibited.
“12 hours for ickiness to pass”
so true ❤😆
Whereeee are those striped water glasses you showed from!
Nope, no grandparents giving me stuff. When my paternal grandmother passed my grandfather locked everything up in the attic…. It’s been 25 years
7:45 my personality likes the colour of those tiles....s'pose there's no way you guys would do shower curtains in that colour, is there?
where are your kitchen floor tiles from? Or what colour exactly are the red and off white ish tiles? Thx
She's renting

All the best in 2025!!! ❤🎉
“I like things to be natural and vegan if I’m taking them everyday” sounds like 2025 is the year you’re gonna watch Dominion on RUclips and become vegan ❤🐮🐷🐠🐔
wait paige forages??
It’s a studio oops I think I guessed 🤭
I’d like to add someone else’s personality to my decor. My own isn’t that awesome. Someone funny, fascinating, interesting. Any tips Paige? Can I borrow yours? It would be very generous of you.
Hey Sharon! Nah-uh! Don't you talk about yourself that way. ☝️ Be kind to yourself, I bet you deserve it. 🏵
Well you’re obviously funny, & there are definitely ways to decorate with a sense of humor. 😊

REQUEST: Hi Paige, if I could make a request; the censor bleep in your previous video is genuinely very unpleasant almost painful to me and some others. Would you consider using something softer please? thanks in advance :)
