To be honest, I wouldn't have known about Sonyc and it's incredible soundtrack if it weren't for Joel from Vinesauce's livestream. Good work on the sound track man!
I was intrigued by this homebrew effort ever since I knew about it, and the music was fire too But oh my God, it's truly enlightening to know you were involved. I know you from your OC ReMixes
THIS IS FANTASTIC! no joke, I' honestly think this is better than the tracks from the original Sonic games; I would say your compositions are in the level of legendary composers like Chris Hulsbeck! (not talking about this one track i'm particular, i'm talking about all of them!)
_Yooooou_...! _You're_ the one who made all that unbelievably spectacular music for that cool MSX2 homebrew?? I mean, apparently you are, 'cause here it is! My word... I have to ask, what inspired you to go such a radically different way with the soundtrack when compared to either _Sonic the Hedgehog_ on the Master System/Game Gear or Genesis/MegaDrive? This is some really, really great stuff!
+Joseph Collins TBH I never really thought about remaking the Sonic OST, I just went for originals. Not having a copy of Sonic back then and only having played it a lot apart from a few sessions at a friend did contribute too. Lastly, I was also a bit short on time, and back then originals took me less time than covers. True story.
Gotta wonder what your thoughts are on Furnace getting support for OPL4 in the future. I'm personally very excited, looking forward to it. Using an unofficial build that has it already implemented, though without access to the ROM instruments. I'm actually having a ton of fun using both FM and samples together for a huge sound
I like the Furnace support. The tracker that we had on MSX for the OPL4 (Moonblaster) is rather limited, and a proper tracker goes a long way to get the most out of it. Only problem is that you need a replayer to use it in games, and while you can use the vgm files and play them back, these files are also rather huge. But yeah, great to have a good tracker that supports it, it’s about time! 🙂
@@Jorito yeah, I have my qualms about the .vgm format too. There have been talks about getting more export formats for many chips. NSF for NES, .cus/cust for Amiga for example... From my own (relatively limited) experience, there's no such format for OPL4, either on MSX or PC (for the very few OPL4 soundcards that were made.) not even anything for OPL2 or 3. I would like that since I make use of effects in OPL3 especially that aren't supported by .vgm, so my music can't sound correct on hardware, even though it should in theory
+HÞR Studios Never found a game suitable for that :) I might be interested in doing music for an indie game, the biggest problem is finding the time for it nowadays...
Jorito Yeah I get your point :) I've always wanted to create a 16-bit SNES rpg kinda game, but I don't know how to code, compose music nor draw graphics, so yeah whatever...
Jorito Thank you so much!! Also... Seems you worked on Bomba Man too. I saw that years ago and tried to find the game, not knowing what system it was for, or what an MSX even was. I was in middle school at the time, around 2007 or 2008.

+Tatsude Very happy to see all the love for this soundtrack, it's great to see this post-MSX appreciation!
Same

It is an honor to meet a developer of this game!
You should get the group back together and remake it!
GODDAMN IT! This is beautiful. Best him hombrew track I've heard in a while. My ears have rainbows in them.
This is amazing dude! Like, holy hell your talented! Keep it up!
Now that is a stellar soundtrack right here (Especially for MSX standards)
"it's just a funny little fan made sonic game, you don't need to make the soundtrack be all that great"

Definitely worth a like! I think the music had much more effort than the rest of the game lol
Reminds me of Nights into Dreams.

Joel brought me here, and by god. OwO
+VenrockSharpshadow Glad you like it and thanks for stopping by :)
No, thank you for the music! ;)
Sonic Boom 601
peach
why the fuck, don't you use this piece of greatness in a indie 16bit rpg game?
+HÞR Studios btw, keep doing more great work like this!

Cool! Have you got a midi files?
they're not midi files kid
Do you think you may ever upload the OPLL versions of the music here sometime?
That's actually not a bad idea, don't know why I didn't think of it. If I can find the OPLL versions somewhere, I might.
Jorito Thank you so much!! Also...
Seems you worked on Bomba Man too.

Bombaman is free nowadays, you can get either the MSX version or a version in a custom skin emulator from www.teambomba.net/bombaman.html. Enjoy!
so is this just using opl4 sampling or is there 2op 4op FM going on too?
These are just opl4 samples played back using the internal ROM of samples that come with the Moonsound.
