Over the last 70 years i have listened to countless vocal performances. This is one of the very best. So relaxing. So calming . So effortless. Sung at the pace that was intended by the composers. Brilliant harmonizing by Lorrie. Subtle perhaps but brilliant nevertheless. Thank you so much for the post.

A superb version of this. I always felt a little odd whenever I heard the Doris Day version...turns out that it was a #1 hit at the time of my birth (Aug 24, 1954.), and was playing on the radio in the nursery.....BRAVO LORRIE!!!!!

I didn't know Lorrie sang this. I loved it when Doris Day sang it in "Calamity Jane", but this is beautiful too. Love anything Lorrie Morgan does!

Good performance. I love that dress. Simple yet elegant and classy. It is nice reading comments about you. Everyone that has met Lorrie that posted can't say enough nice things about her. A genuine smile goes a long way and it means more kudos for her and just adds to her exceptional talent to be considered as a good person.

@12715159 Very true! I especially like this rendition from Lorrie Morgan. The opening instrument is just beautiful. Superb. Also the Jazz piano solo in the middle. Another favorite from Lorrie Morgan is "From this moment on" duet with her father George Morgan. Freddy Fender, "Before the next teardrop falls". That's totally different song although I like it very much, too.

She is an all around singer. I heard her with the greatest group in history, The Beach Boys. She has something in her voice, an edge, that Doris Day doesn't have.

***** I didn't know Doris Day ever sang it.

    • @egbertsouce3895

+Ronnie Bishop Doris Day IS not a country singer, which is primarily what Lorrie Morgan is--no knock against her--she's a good singer with a nice voice and she knows how to do a song. But she has the advantage of having the music catalog of the last hundred years to choose from. Its gotta be a lot easier to take an already great tune and cover it well, than to try and put your stamp on a mediocre song and hope to have a hit with it. Might be possible in some cases, and it probably has happened--its just not easy.

Egbert Souce It's a matter of taste. Obviously millions preferred Linda Ronstadt over Doris Day. Lorrie Morgan had some great original song's. Though few compared to Linda. She was in a position to obtain many great song's but must have overlooked them for some reason. I don't know how many hits Doris had. But her voice compared to Lorrie or Linda is a no brainer. Just my opinion.

J Calhoun Well Peggy Lee and Betty Hutton was from her generation. Maybe you can see why I prefer them to Doris then. Lol hahahahaha

Just read your response. That s why I get so outraged when people blame Lorrie for the downfall of Keith. I didn t know Keith personally. Had a coupe of drinks with him. But I guess I knew Lorrie from having worked around her more. Was in the business over 25 years. I became an old burnt old dude. lol No matter. lorrie is a great talent, more important she is a very loving, caring and forgiving lady.

Nicely done, I think she didn't do it to different from the orginal, and though I prefer Doris's version, she did a good job and gave respect to the song.

Don't agree with some of the previous comments. She Lorrie-ized a great old Doris Day song and made it hers just as she has done with a number of other artists songs - see my comments on her version of Will You Love Me Tomorrow.

I'm certain Lorrie isn't trying to "beat" Doris Day....i think it's a beautiful song and a beautiful tribute to Doris.
I''ve been a Doris Day fan for 50 years and no one comes close to her beautiful voice but to hear her songs sung by another lovely voice such as Lorrie's is wonderful to hear.
