Combat would have been much more fun with different sets of weapons. Like spear for Bahamut, gloves for Titan, and so on. So swpping Eikon would swap the weapon as well. It would give usage to all the materials you find and a shit ton of extra work for good old Blackthorne
This game was great but combat could have been better. 4 hit melee combo is not enough fun even with the magic burst, so eventually gameplay becomes use your skills, repeat 4 hit combo until cooldown resets. It would have been so much better if there were more base skills to play with the combos because lunge and 4 hit combo is not enough substance for how long this game is.
I like the normal mode combat, but Final Fantasy mode changes the way some encounters work. Sometimes you have to wait to use a cooldown or to attack and pay attention in sorroudings, and this breaks the monotony of "evade, 4 hits, skill" and tranforms it into something a little bit more tactical and positioning instead of comboing everything into oblivion. Perfect dodge being so easy to do is still a thing that could be changed tho

I have 4 problems with the combat: 1. You can *button mash* the hell outta it because you don't feel a NEED to play strategically to beat the game. 2. It's a *simplified* version of DMC combat. Inputs require no skill to pull the moves off, and a significant number of said moves is taken straight from the DMC games *_(Helm Breaker, Charged Shot, Snatch, Enemy Step, Stinger)_* 3. Too much *visual noise--* oftentimes can't see what's going on, on the screen. 4. When I'm playing Oldschool Medieval Fantasy theme'd games, I have this rule that to make it feel really atmospheric, *the combat needs to be Down-to-Earth,* just like the rest of the world is. Which means, my character mustn't move like some shounen Anime demigod protagonist, since that kills the vibe of hardship and conservativeness of that era. This is partly why I like combat in Dark Souls, Dragon Age Origins, Witcher 1, Kingdoms of Amalur, Risen, Classic WoW or Fable. And what makes all of it worse, is that the combat is pretty much the only thing going on for this game. The RPG elements are minimalistic, and that includes the World Exploration.

Also saying "just mash one button" when ironically you can beat the large majority of all turn-based Final Fantasy games by just spamming "Attack" over and over, but surely these people think you need true skill, talent and a PHD to beat turn-based games.

My favourite commenters are the ones complaining the new combat is nothing like FF. No one in their right mind is playing these games for the combat. I doubt these people have even touched an older title in years because anyone older than ten would find fights the most boring aspect of these games. There's a reason the most hyped up games in this franchise are the heavily story-driven ones like VII and X and it's not for their combat systems that's for sure. I'm glad XVI has this in depth of a combat system because frankly I don't like the direction the story took that much. However, instead of dropping it like I have with a lot of other FF titles, I'm still trying to complete the game because I find the combat interesting enough to keep going.

If you want strong thumbs, it's the right game. If you want challenge, looks elsewhere.
Combat would have been much more fun with different sets of weapons. Like spear for Bahamut, gloves for Titan, and so on. So swpping Eikon would swap the weapon as well. It would give usage to all the materials you find and a shit ton of extra work for good old Blackthorne
So the dot hack// G.U system
IDK if you noticed but the whole point of the game was to be a straightforward hack and slash with absolutely no choices
@@Sennacherib-e9gwhich is something nobody wants
It doesnt become that simple if you PLAY WITH THE FUCKING COMBAT

@@animexplayer59 ff8 is still a better game. Fact.
I have 4 problems with the combat:
1. You can *button mash* the hell outta it because you don't feel a NEED to play strategically to beat the game.
2. It's a *simplified* version of DMC combat.
Inputs require no skill to pull the moves off, and a significant number of said moves is taken straight from the DMC games *_(Helm Breaker, Charged Shot, Snatch, Enemy Step, Stinger)_*
Of course it resembles dmc. The combat director made this. Genius

I prefer the older FF (X/XII) style of combat. This is like "we have action combat, but our action is only flashy effects".
I can't stand turn-based games, but in the older FF games i loved it.
Some people just can’t tell what a sarcasm is.
That’s because some of us aren’t being sarcastic
LOL Your comment section is absolute comedy. Either people who don't have the brain matter to detect sarcasm or people who got triggered to validate their "turn-based superiority"
It's funny when you realise these are people in their mid-30s who spend time of their day to mald over the internet about how a publically traded company hasn't made a game that appealed to them for almost 2 decades.
Also saying "just mash one button" when ironically you can beat the large majority of all turn-based Final Fantasy games by just spamming "Attack" over and over, but surely these people think you need true skill, talent and a PHD to beat turn-based games.
Yeah dude lmao. I didn't see these typa comments a lot with the ff7 remake which is pretty ironic. Once rebirth comes out, double standards are for sure gonna show up
Finally someone with more than 2 brain cells, I swear people just repeat what they hear on the internet because they're too stupid or lazy to form an opinion on their own
My favourite commenters are the ones complaining the new combat is nothing like FF.
Amazing video! Idk why tf casuals complain and whine there is not much to do in the game. It's called, creativity and you certainty proved that. That's like a DMC player that only knows how to melee and shoot and never presses R1(I have friends who have done it for DMC4 it's fooken hilarious)😂

Way better than pushing the same button over and over again. Old games didnt really have strategy, like you have to think a lot to hit an enemy with a weakness.

I didn't play the game myself but from what I saw in this clip it bro did every combo in existence and the boss was sitting down in disappointment and be like "You did all that for a mere drop of blood?"
Its a masterpiece from the best action genre people. People from kingdom hearts and nier were involved. And the OG DMC COMBAT DIRECTOR made it. Though it was way too easy but after ff mode i love it.
