You are quite the handy GT encyclopedia, my guy. The differences aren't gigantic, but every tenth of a second counts. That's the different of higher a-spec point races being possible or not, or challenge runs being successful. Proper mad stuff.
Could this also apply in real life racing as well? Has anyone tried the perfect gears trick or the ride height trick in real life or even in GT5, 6, Sport, or 7?
I've been using this gear technique for half a year. I personally call it "Reverse Gear Trick" or RGT since if you perform it with some hacks on the gears you can achieve negative values on 1st gear making your car go forward if you press the reverse. Thanks to it I've been able to beat GT2's GTWC with so many low HP cars, to name few: Lotus Elise 190, Tommy Kaira ZZ-S coupé, Honda Civic VTi '93. Not only is useful for low HP cars but also for heavy ones (those who have ~1200Kg) as they all share, as showcased by you, a low acceleration on the first gears, especially 1st. Btw a way more simplified and quicker way to make it work is to just lock the Final to 2.500 and then change the Auto Value and the gears accordingly. Happy to see this method is getting the recognition it deserves
Whoever finds the time to make an Any% TAS is about going to have the most absurd ways of finding time against the current RTA's with these tricks you're showing off.
Recently (especially GT3) when I set up a rally car from scratch, I sometimes tend to think that I'm satisfied with the gear ratio as long as I can drift well around hairpins. I'm a lazy person. I come across this "perfect gear trick" today. (You've said less of an effect) in GT3, I give it a try on the Clio Sport Race Car. For rally use. The gear setting process involves a "launch test". This is something I neglected when setting up a GT3 rally car. Since this is my first time doing the perfect gear trick, I test it on the gravel in the Alps until I'm satisfied. As a result, I feel like I've been able to create gear settings that are smooth for drifting and powerful for exiting corners. (Clio Race Car with turbo stage 1, final to 4.300 for gear trick starting point, each gear set the super close gear pattern) The Rally League with Clio is a lot of fun. In Tahiti Maze, I'm dominant from start to finish, and in the Swiss Alps, I'm dead heat where I can win if I don't make any mistakes. Once I've had enough fun, I'll review some lazy rally cars settings in GT4. I'm glad I found this perfect gear trick.
Dunno but for me most of the gears are still not short enough, usually i make a set up based on the track characteristics (such as high speed exit corner or either more to top speed) and the torque curve of the engine itself
I'm not sure I understand. You can still adjust the final drive to shorten the gears as needed without havign to re-do the trick every time. Applying the gear trick in this way puts a hard limit on how much top speed you can get though, compared to the normal one where you have much more free reign.
The ride height trick was patched out from GT3 onwards, so that one doesn't work as it does in GT1/GT2 anyway. There's a good chance that the perfect gear trick works in GT5 onwards (another commenter said it was used in drag racing), but I haven't tested it myself. As for IRL, well, let's just say that GT isn't quite the 'real driving simulator' it claims to be. A lot of this sort of stuff doesn't apply to real life.
Thanks for ❤ previous post. I've been doing a lot of Gran Turismo 4 research - playing it as I type - and would like to share some info that you can use and explore for future B spec Training content. If you would be so kind as to post an email contact I will forward the documented information immediately. Great content, mate.
Very interesting, this would probably go really well with the ride height trick as well to make underpowered cars a lot faster than they should be

I really like how fast you can set the gears in gt 1 and 2. I also love the setup theme in gt1. I could listen to it all day.
does this trick not work on gt1, btw?
@@KingLich451 GT1 does not have an auto slider, but has a much wider range of adjustment for individual gears than later games.
wait i thought this was from wayyyy longer ago, the content just feels so natural to watch!
The things I learnt back in the days of GT5 and GT6 Drag racing still comes into play in the older games it seems.
Thanks again for the video

Can you show a regular car against the combined ride height and perfect gear trick?
Not a bad idea, I might try putting something like this together when I get back next week.
Whenever I see a T23 Celica I’m in. I’m Scotty Kilmer Jr.

I See 😎
People have to have tried this perfect gear trick and/or the ride height trick in real life or at least in GT5, 6, Sport, and 7, right?

Oh, I remember seeing your comment on the main channel but I forgot to reply, sorry. Sure, my Gmail is teavault775, thanks a million.
Sick
Useless in low-revving power cars, muscle cars for example!
Confusing for sure.
Still; every 💯th of a second counts.
