OMG, you are on fire today with the no gender reassignment for radio connectors, because they were born that way. Thanks for all the laughs Randy!!!
Sad Ham will be envious…
Agreed. I was practically crying laughing during that segment. Oh and "un-rigid" - would that be flexible? Diverse even? Well, no matter what you believe your radio identifies as, the connectors don't lie and this is one thing duct tape cannot fix.
Should note it is important to properly tighten the connectors. Snug, but not too tight. I hate it when my electricites spill out all over the place and I have to clean them up....
I for one enjoy your comments towards the idiots of today. Keep up the good work
Flaccid.
I spit my rebull out and could feel the nanobots burning my nose.
There are so many truths depicted throughout this video for everyone to learn. I can almost hear the screams of denial in the explanation you just presented. How these different labeled connectors were brought together in order to bring life to the radio and matching antenna. The simplicity of bringing the world into a basic understanding of everyday LIFE through a video tutorial. Thank you SIR!
My older UV5R sometimes identifies as a gmrs radio...
OMG, that’s hilarious………seriously hilarious. I’m not licensed yet, but I identify as licensed for ham radio purposes? Does it work that way?
When I use a coax adapter on any of my HTs, I cut a small piece of low pressure poly water hose as strain relief. 7/16" OD - 5/16" ID works for most SMA adapters.
I gotta be honest here. You are Awesome. Rock on, stay frisky. KD5ZWB in Texas.
'stay frisky'...... I like that
I am dying…. Randy this may have been your funniest video yet! Informative and hilarious at the same time
I am glad that I purchased a radio a while ago. Now a days if you purchase a radio that had surgery you won’t be able to tell if it is a female or male even with the antenna screwed off 😬
Nice video! Did I see the shirt right? 2 in the hog taker n 1 in the log maker?🤣
Keep that sense of humor,
It's crucial 😅
A very good example of when flaccidness between male and female parts is a good thing.
The birds and bees of GMRS
EPICALLY ENTERTAINING VIDEO thank you for the laugh this evening!! Much appreciated!! Honestly I enjoy a lot of your videos because of your mannerisms all while being informative!!.. I love the dry humor along with the mockery of the keyboard warriors!!!
You're a funny man! 😅 The first time I came by your video, never change you are awesome 😊👌
This is the greatest video on the internet 😂 information and shade 😂
LOL great video and shocker shirt. Keep it up Randy
Feel like I just got a birds and the bees talk from my dad.
Is that hand held? Looks like it is antenna held!! I am just trying to be as funny as you!! I love how you do things!! Keep up the great job!!
SMA And RPSMA Got me Messed Up At First, But Yes, First Thing ID id When I Boought My First Baofeng, I Made A Roof ANtenna For my Car. Always Have I Made My Own Adapters And Wires For Adapting Other Antennas And All That Stuff
that shirt is glorious gave me a chuckle haha
Dude!! That T-Shirt is Epic LMAO
Yes it is
You didn't mention screwing........ the connectors together. On never mind I think you did. Great video.
Dude you make me laugh! Great video as always, and thanks for the info. You've become my goto for radio quetions.
The shirt is awesome!
We appreciate you bro. When I actually use these skills, I will have you to thank.
Oh my God I love you you nailed it I totally comprehend what said about male and female awesome way to get your point across may the Lord bless you
Male and Female is ACTUALLY the tech term if you order a connecter
I have a related question (sortof) I have a UV-9g that I have added a SMA F to BNC adapter so I can quickly hook it to my Vest mounted Antenna System. Is there a GMRS antena out there with the BNC hookup that would work on my UV-9G?
"Boof-wang"?
Love it!
Saw this channel recommended over at /pol/, the peaceful Mongolian basket weaving forum, I gotta say......
... nice info for if/when shit hits the fan.
I love my boofwang!! I have my GMRS license thanks 2 U because FCC does not make it easy. Their site SUCKS!! but it got it. I am a new subcriber and looking back at your old stuff. All is interesting. U taught me a lot!! (affiliate link below) LOL!!
I’m curious. Would a midland gain ghost antenna work with this radio?
This guy cracks me up every time
Hey thankyou from 4H10AM Philippines😆😆
I love your descriptive words.
Hey Randy. This is Justin. I bought my oldest son a baofeng gm-15 pro. I program a few of the local 2m repeaters that I use. So he can listen to them. But he can’t hear any traffic coming from the repeaters. Just when I key up and unkey but no audio. We are about 4 miles line of sight to the repeater. Any advise is greatly appreciated
Ok so, if you copy and pasted in chirp from repeater book you probably got tones wrong. First step find a NOAA station that actually works. Next step look at the tone type you are using. In your programming software you may have the tone type set incorrectly. If it's on tone squelch change it to tone. Once you get on a repeater talk to the other users and ask them for current tone settings for the surrounding repeaters.
The ending thou, I knew it was coming 🤣🤣
omg ... this was great!!! as a newly minted old happy ham i thank you for the laughs ...
The biology lesson was hilarious 😂😂😂
3:48 You have me laughing hahaha!
Awesome!!! Concur! 😁
... and Chinese confirms it with their products! 👌
Just ordered 2 UV5R radios from Amazon. Hope I made the right choice and hope they come complete with battery and charger. Guess I’ll find out in a few days. Kinda wondering if maybe I should have ordered the UV5X.
Thank you for this! Missed out on "ask Randy", but I fully understand your reasons for dropping it. I'll post a general question here as I don't know where else to go (or who to trust). Will you ever consider a video on basic function programming (ie. Programming button functions to monitor, scan or change power levels)? I haven't received all the radios I've ordered (new at this) but I did order the programming cable and will download the software. If the software is intuitive, I hope I'll be able to use it without turning my radio into a brick!
Everything he said. Be well👍🏽
Um the manual for the radios explain that stuff...
@@markreinders2261 Yes, the basics are there, but nor everything, I think....just trying to soak up as much info as I can, because I'm new.
We are going to NEED the affiliate link to that tee shirt………………..below!
Its already there.
My eyes are shot from squinting at my purple boofwang screen. Good thing my ocean KG-UV9GX will be here soon.
I love your Take. Notarubicon.
Keep it up
That Fn shirt 🤣🤣🤣
Pin and Socket come to mind. Kinda like the shirt you are wearing...........😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
I LOOOOOVE this guy!!!! Completely!
Notarubicon, I am looking for a good cable to run from my kg-1000g to an antenna mount on my pickup truck. 18 ft. should be all I need possibly less. Is kmr400 or lmr400 over kill for a mobile radio? It will be very difficult to route well into the cab, nonbendy stuff. Do you have any recommendations/advice? My radio arrives in a week and I want all my installation needs covered.
I will also be mounting a ham mobile and antenna as well. Same cable type?
BTW… your videos were very informative and entertaining as well.
YES - IMO LMR400 IS WAY overkill for only 18 feet not to mention the fact that routing it is like trying to route a broomstick.
Just get a good/decent UHF cable intended for mobile use and stop overthinking it.
I love your shirt! 😆
LOVE the shirt!! 😂 💪
Randy, not on subject for this video, but this is your latest video..
I saw an interesting "work around" that avoids 'legal' issues.
Requirements: one HAM guy and one GMRS guy.
The dedicated radios must have two channel monitoring, each being able to monitor the other's transmitted frequencies.
The HAM guy transmits on his HAM frequency, which the GMRS guy is monitoring and can receive. The GMRS guy receives the message on monitor, and replies on his GMRS frequency, which the
HAM guy is monitoring.
End result...two way communication without any FCC regulation infractions!
What do you think? (I know some radios can be unlocked, but if you can't, this should work, right?)
When you use an adapter with your radio like so, does that make it Trans-Adaptive?
My antenna identifies as a female so i cant get the connection to work
This is absolutely the best video of the channel.
The Jeep bikini wash was pretty damned informative and I'd call it must-see information.
Love the "boofweng" lol! Now need to say "boutfung"
OK, I don't know shit from shineola so I gotta ask... so what you are saying is that I can use a handheld mobile radio antenna (made for GMRS radios) on a Wouxun KG-1000?
Awesome and perfect👍
What antenna do you recommend for my UV5R going onto the roof of my SUV?
The antenna you use depends highly on what frequencies you will be transmitting on.
@@TheNotaRubicon please keep in mind i am about two hours into my radio journey/knowledge. I own a UV-5R 8W (insert inappropriate touching/stare) and most everything around here is between 140-165 that I've been listening to. If possible UV-5R high one could you please bestow upon me your recommendations for a home and vehicle mounted antenna for my current Baofeng needs? Love your channel keep up the great knowledge spreading and sad ham trolling !
Nice shirt. You know how to spot the most popular guy at a nude beach? He'll be carrying a dozen donuts and 2 cups of coffee.
Need to subscribe after this one :)
Why can GMRS antennas be pretuned to work on any GMRS radio, but for cb, you need an swr meter?
I'm sure you've talked this at some time, I'm a bit new here and catching up. Thx
You could have a CB antenna that is pre-tuned, but even pre-tuned antennas should be checked with a meter just to be sure.
I nearly spit out my coffee in laughter watching this
You’re the best!
Great message, thank you
Male ends and female ends... Genius what a great idea. It's almost like they were invented by God.
And just like that, I found a channel about radios I can relate to. Hilarious sir.
Randy you should get a amateur radio license so you could then use your "expert" powers to cancel out those of the sad hams. "Be gone fucktard.... You have no power here!" (Insert maniacal laughter here).
May be a stupid question but is it possible to use the same antenna for multiple radio types? Currently I have a dual mirror mount antenna set up in my semi. I have the coax split to service my mounted Cb and my handheld am/fm cb radio. I’d like to add the boafeng gmrs radio. Would I need to install a different antenna maybe to the back of my cab? If I later added ham radio would that need a separate antenna as well? I was considering adding digital police/fire/ems/dot scanner but would need a separate glass mounted antenna
The antenna is made for/based on the frequency of the radio channels. Because the frequencies on CB and GMRS are so different, each would need its own antenna. Depending on what frequencies your police/fire/ems is listening on, you might be able to use the GMRS antenna for that.
I have a question about kind of going the opposite direction. According to my manual the UV-5R in low power mode is a 2 Watt radio. If using low power then are there still legal concerns or is it then basically a walk-in talkie
The UV-5R is a ham radio and the FCC says that to transmit on a ham radio you must have a ham radio operators license.
@@TheNotaRubicon thanks you, I was hoping there was a power loophole just in case the gooberment pays somebody 3 days perdiem and spends a lnother 2.3 trillion deploying those radio detector trucks from Hogans hero’s and sends the Gestappo into my miles of wheat fields to figure out if Bill or Juan who was asking which way to run the furrows 🤣
“You’ll get the chair for this see!” They’ll yell as they mail someone a harshly worded letter.
I just really love loopholes. Was hoping to find one
Not sure if I learned about adapters or the birds and the bees, lmao.

So how many different antennas do I need for all the capable frequencies
So I'm also a ham and use ham frequencies so I use the Diamond 770 antenna with a magnet mount base or a trunk mount bracket on my work truck hood. The Diamond 770 is tuned for the 2 meter (144-148 Mhz) and 70 cm (440-450 Mhz) ham bands but my SWR meter ( and slight tuning of antenna length done with a small Allen wrench) I was able to get GMRS frequencies ( 462-467 Mhz) to be within acceptable tolerance of around 1.7 SWR and even MURS frequencies (151-154 Mhz) to around 2.0 SWR all within usable tolerance, specially for "emergency" use on my part 97 radios.
Some of your best work 😂😂😂
Love that t-shirt. LoL
Hi mate I'm having an issue connecting my baofeng uv-5r to a local frequency. The operation frequency is 24.100 GHz .+ 100MHz how would I go about achieving this?
You're going to have to buy a different radio.
@@TheNotaRubicon lol ok thanks
Baofeng kicks Butt!!! Love me my bufuanggs
do i need a licence for this radio (ham radio)
The UV-5R is a ham radio and the FCC says that to transmit you must have a ham radio license. No license is required to listen.
Your driving the sad hams crazy holding your antenna
I love the metaphors that could be used to edumacate certain folks who can't figure out their gender.
Good lawd Randy! Are the sad ham comments not enough for you? Now you're going to get the alphabets in your box, rummaging and making commotion!
Awesome!
Thanks for the connector and pigtail info (and the gender humor)
Gotta watch the length of the coax cable. Soooo, size DOES matter. 😉
Another NOOB question for the guy who knows it all. I have a Wouxun KG1000G+ base radio and a Comet GP-6NC antenna on roof of my 2 story house. Multiple Baofeng UV-5R HTs. I can hit a GMRS repeater that's about 25-30 miles away with full quiet on base radio. My HTs will barely touch the repeater. I get in there, but never get a call back when doing a radio check. On simplex, I can get about 10 miles away from base radio to mobile HT. Then signal falls off quick.
My question: There any way I can have it set up so I can have my HT transmit to my base radio, then have it re-transmit to the GMRS repeater? That way I could roam around town using HTs hitting my antenna at full quiet, but being able to talk on the GMRS repeater full quiet. I tried using a mag mount antenna (Negoya), a 48in tape antenna, and still can't get into repeater without it being obnoxious to other listeners. Any info would be greatly appreciated. And keep the great videos coming. Such a pleasure to watch...
If more people studied male and female there would be more propagation and less “trans”gression.
I was about to die laughing!
That was great.... !!
But what if the radio thinks it’s got a female connector?😅
Nice shirt😂
@5:21 the word you were looking for is flaccid.
Or, Confined space or bad location.
nice shirt
Moar fars!
Bahahahaha! Ultimate troll and I love it!
hahahhahahah, "A female will always be female and male will always be male. " tottaly agree!.
Thanks!
hilarious guy 😂
Facts! lol
Thing that sticks out... lol.
Duh! I have mine hooked up to a 21db omnidirectional yagi because I have a life and am not a dork!!!!
The Shocker 🤨
