I have to say, the idea of giving the players permission to look up info on the internet about various real-world topics and people related to the in-game case is a really nice touch. I also appreciate the idea of a game that's legacy-like, in that it's really designed to be played through once from start to finish, but doesn't actually destroy or ruin anything in the box preventing it from being played again should someone wish to do so.
sooo... scenario-like. I think if it's nothing is having permanent effect it's not really legacy. That said I do like what I see too (I *like* scenario games) and disagreeing about terms doesn't mean we can't enjoy the same game. Cheers.

Just got the game today! Really excited to play! I was worried about the replay value since it has 5 cases, but each case has more than one path to solve and hopefully more cases will be published. Great addition to my collection of mystery games, along with Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective.
Question: Have you re-played a game after failing the first time? Did you return the future lead cards from other cases back into the original deck to fully "reset" the deck? Or did you keep them out and add to it after your second play. We decided to try and play Case I again to see if we can beat it (we lost the first play). We're not sure what to do with those clues we found and set aside? BTW - your videos are great and this was a great overview for a VERY fun game. Thanks
When I replayed the first case, I reset everything. I figured I maybe shouldn't get the bonuses unlocked from the first attempt, if I was effectively starting it over. All the best in your second attempt!

No sorry, I wouldn't be able to do that, because what one player finds very replayable, another wouldn't. I try to avoid assessing things that are very opinion dependent.
I had no idea what I was getting into when I purchased this game. Wow, being honest here, it sounds very complicated, but interesting. Can I just play for a few hours on a weekend and then pick up the following weekend where I left off?
Well explained! However, I have a question. Do we replenish action tokens provided by the consultants at the beginning of the next case? Or do we receive these tokens only at the beginning of the first case and later on we have to replenish them through special actions and authority tokens?
If you do bad on a case, you can reply to try to better - once you've scored well, you know the "solution". I really prefer not to try to assess replay ability for people though. What one person finds replayable, another won't. Each of the 5 cases have a particular solution though, so the outcome doesn't change each time you play them.
Watch It Played understandable. Everyone gets replayability differently. For this game, you may want to try and do better, or find different clues to find the solution perhaps.
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Yep, you can play 1-5. As for your enjoyment playing it at 1, that will depend a lot on what you personally would enjoy in the solo experience, which would be difficult for me to assess. The game can be played solo though.
Thank you for an excellent explanation as usual. I just got this game and ordered the 6th case offered also, as downloadable demo. "Suburbia". Is it a good idea to play the demo case at first to get to learn the game in a better manner? Is this 6th case also connected with previous cases? I mean, is a downloadable demo, it should be irrelevant, so it should be safe to use this one to be a better detective before I dive on the campaign-like case solving. Am I right?
I'd like to ask, how much is the replay value of the game? If i play again with the same people it'll end up the same way? Sorry for the poor english and great video as always!
Each mystery has the same end result, so if you played through a Case a second time after doing a really good job on it, you might discover some new clues about the case, but the end answers would be the same. That said, if you were to wait 6 months or so before playing again, if you're like me, you'd likely forget most of it, so it would be like playing again :)
Hey Rodney, how is the replayability of this game? After solving the first case, can it be played again with a different outcome? And how is the tone for the crimes being committed? Is it more like the butler in the bathroom with the rubber ducky or Se7en?
Hey James, it's been awhile since I shot this, but I think the answer to your first question is in the video. As for the tone. I haven't played all the cases, but I'd say it's somewhere between the two example you listed. They aren't goofy cases, but they aren't head in the box type either. Probably heavier than what you'd want to throw at your average kid?
The first 2 cases feel like a regular cold case being investigated but from case 3 onwards you get into a way bigger scenario that takes a lot of deduction and note taking to fathom out. There is zero replayability because each case only has one perfect solution.
Looks interesting, but i guess i will have the same problem with it as i have with Time stories- too little time to investigate everything. I guess i just dont like games with timers, they stress me out.
Hey Rodney, I have a question about the game. I contacted portal about it, but they told me it wasn't there game, even though the logo is on the back ?? Just wondering: we are with a board game group with serveral people. We planned a date to play the first case, but we want do do that with 7 people. Is it a big problem to play with this size of the group?
That's really hard to say - I think it's going to be so dependent on the group, and everyone's interest and investment. You know what I mean? One group of seven players might really work, and a different group of seven players might not. I don't feel I can give a confidant answer for what your experience will be like.
Do you think this could be played remotely? I'll explain: two of our friends who we used to play games together went to live in another part of the world, so do you think some people could play using the physical board, and others using the web page in another place at the same time and we just put a video conference to talk to each other... so some would be like the tech guys and others like the on field guys.... or would we both remote "teams" need to have a physical copy of the game.

@@cvandy07181961 Your "group" is however many people are playing. 1, 2, 3 or more. You are never opposing each other, this game is fully co-operative - you're always working together to solve the case.
The cases don't change, but I've played the same case more than once (after I've been away from a case for a few months, I forget the details). Your mileage may vary!
I've repeated scenarios, after taking a good break from it, but I think it's going to be a matter of preference. Once a case has been solved, you may find you remember better than I do :)
It's hard for me to answer this, as I think it would depend on the other players and your ability to explain things clearly, but you certainly could try.
@@WatchItPlayed We did it! I was the techie guy who speaks two languages and they played as if they are foreigners who cannot speak Eng. :PP Roleplaying solves everything. Thanks a lot!
@@WatchItPlayed since the cards are the same and it follows the samesotry and clues, solving it once might mean that the next time around, you would know how to solve the same case again
@@chrischris9379 Oh yeah, the cases are a single play through. Legacy games typically have some kind of destructible components - nothing is destroyed in this game as you play.
Are you allowed to pursue the "further leads" when you find them on the data base? For instance, if I were to look someone up and in the further leads section it has "interrogation with this person" am I allowed to go to that card?
I'm actually not entirely sure about this question, as it's been a little while since I played, and don't remember this happening in the game I played - that said, I'm 99.99% sure the answer is no, as the rules have you Interrogate from the cards, not the app.
It may seem that way, but in practice, it may be much less than you're imagining. Very little of the 3-4 hours of the game is spent pouring over a device. Most time is spent in reading cards and discussion between the players, taking notes, etc. That said, I don't know what your personal threshold is for 'a lot', so it's tough to say.
Which aspect of the website was difficult to use when you were playing? We didn't come across any bugs when we were playing (but that said, I haven't played through every case yet).

Yep! A new expansion was just announced with a new set of cases.
@@WatchItPlayed Sweet! Thanks Rodney
@@WatchItPlayed Sweet! Thanks Rodney
I love true crime. Is this game as complicated as it seems? 🤨
That's a tough one to answer. What's complicated to one person, isn't to another. Hopefully the video can help provide some information that way.
I don't know if you have purchased the game but it is not complicated to play but it does require a LOT of note taking or mind-mapping to keep everything straight.
can you replay the cases? do they have different outcomes?
They do not have different outcomes. You could replay them to try different avenues of investigation though.
@@WatchItPlayed okay.. is there a way we could get more cases?
Clare J. Yep, they’ve already announced an expansion with new cases.
@@WatchItPlayed okay cool, thanks!
Please make a Captain Sonar how to play xD
Thanks for the interest Lance.
When you say members of your team, what if it's just yourself and another playing one another?
Can you give me a time stamp of the section of the video you are referring to?
@@WatchItPlayed Like at 5:12 you said the actions of the group. If your playing with just 2 people (me and the Mrs lol)Are we solving this as a team or oppsing each other?
@@cvandy07181961 Your "group" is however many people are playing. 1, 2, 3 or more. You are never opposing each other, this game is fully co-operative - you're always working together to solve the case.
How much time does ot tale to play this game solo?
I avoid trying to answer questions like that, as it will really depend on how you personally play. Everyone plays games at different paces.
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you for your help. I think I might get Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. This is all new to me.
If I watch this video will it spoil the first case?
Nope. I made sure of that.
How replayable is this game
The cases don't change, but I've played the same case more than once (after I've been away from a case for a few months, I forget the details). Your mileage may vary!
I play board games by myself and pretend to be other people, Because I don't have friends :(
It isn't always easy to find people to play games with - but don't worry, that can change!
Is this game repayable ? Or it get stale after you solve it ?
I've repeated scenarios, after taking a good break from it, but I think it's going to be a matter of preference. Once a case has been solved, you may find you remember better than I do :)
I dont want to give my email. Can I still play it?
You could create a fake email?
Is it possible to play this game with people who can't speak English. I mean, may I interpret some of these cards?
It's hard for me to answer this, as I think it would depend on the other players and your ability to explain things clearly, but you certainly could try.
@@WatchItPlayed We did it! I was the techie guy who speaks two languages and they played as if they are foreigners who cannot speak Eng. :PP Roleplaying solves everything. Thanks a lot!
@@furkankurtaran So glad to hear it worked out! Well done :)
I suppose you're all wondering why I've gathered you here today...
Time to solve a case!
And I must say, you have quite an impressive Tim Curry accent.
I have the impresson that this is a legacy game... is it?
Hey Chris, it isn't, but I'm curious, what part of the video gave you that impression?
@@WatchItPlayed since the cards are the same and it follows the samesotry and clues, solving it once might mean that the next time around, you would know how to solve the same case again
@@chrischris9379 Oh yeah, the cases are a single play through. Legacy games typically have some kind of destructible components - nothing is destroyed in this game as you play.
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you for clarifying this :) really appreciate it.
Are you allowed to pursue the "further leads" when you find them on the data base? For instance, if I were to look someone up and in the further leads section it has "interrogation with this person" am I allowed to go to that card?
I'm actually not entirely sure about this question, as it's been a little while since I played, and don't remember this happening in the game I played - that said, I'm 99.99% sure the answer is no, as the rules have you Interrogate from the cards, not the app.
seems to have a lot of 'video game' in this 'board game'
It may seem that way, but in practice, it may be much less than you're imagining. Very little of the 3-4 hours of the game is spent pouring over a device. Most time is spent in reading cards and discussion between the players, taking notes, etc. That said, I don't know what your personal threshold is for 'a lot', so it's tough to say.
This is surprisingly fiddly and the app implementation seems quite bad.
Which aspect of the website was difficult to use when you were playing? We didn't come across any bugs when we were playing (but that said, I haven't played through every case yet).
Watch It Played these three letter shorthands about stress level and the ability for players to make typos and whatnot. It's clunky.
Thanks, I was curious. Glad the video was able to help you to assess whether or not it would be a good fit for your tastes. Cheers.
Eek not a fan of real pictures instead of art in boardgames
Did you get a chance to try this one out?
