    There is another tip that i can add to this if you're a seller. When you sell a high value item, do not mention the cost of shipping (at least when shipping internationally). Leave a note on your listing saying that the shipping fee varies, and if the buyer would like to know the exact shipping cost, he sends you a message asking for the cost. That way you will be able to FILTER OUT his feedback score (new account with no feedback, lots of negative feedback left to others and other sellers leaving that buyer negative comments in the positive feedback section *because sellers cannot leave negative feedback*).

    Yes, in the US the postal service either throws your packages from a roof, or play sports games in the sorting room. It is ridiculous the damages to our packages. And no one really cares. They just shrug you off at the postal service when you complain. This is especially true with items like vinyl records. I will no longer buy records on ebay. I will only buy from companies that know how to package them. I had a record shipped to me from Germany to the US in a single thin layer cardboard record mailer. I mean at best there was like a 20% chance of it making it to me with no damage. What are these sellers thinking? It gets ridiculous. I miss out on so many records I want to purchase because of mediocre packaging and crap postal service.

      This is neat advice. But let's say someone tries to return a product to you, how do you go about it? Do you tell them to just send it back to you for review and pay back the customer until you reviewed their refund?

    I’m selling a car to guy who is “in the Navy,,” and he wants to send a “carrier agent” to pick up the car. I’m supposed to pay him by PayPal, and he is resolutely claiming he can’t provide a bank check. Who buys a car sight unseen? Doesn’t pass the smell test. Thanks for this video! Now I understand exactly how this guy is trying to scam me.

    I’ve personally found that best offer feature had been more trouble than it is worth and I’ve removed it from my listings. I’m a new seller - I get an offer, I accept it and then the “buyer” never pays and leaves me hanging for days. I have to wait for 4 days before I cancel for non payment and relist. Pain in the arse.

  • @coxyofnewp
    @coxyofnewp 4 месяца назад

    So, with pay pal and credit card - having payment reversed at later date 1) why reason can they give to do this? 2) do their credit company question them about it, or is it an easy scam to do.. -Also what happens to the item, is it legally the buyers or the seller. Who is held accountable for the return of it. What if the buyer says a week after receiving - claims it broken. If you paid for recorded delivery, can you claim for the insurance even though the buyer signed for it? Also can you do a more in depth vid explaining all these, as there is a lot or grey area..

    An excellent review of selling on eBay. It raised an important point on switching out broken items and returning the broken item while keeping the working item you shipped. The scam cost me £730...
    An expensive bump in the road, but most buyers I have found are genuine. Overall you do get the best prices on eBay, but there is a potential catch if you get a dodgy buyer..

      This happened to me a long time ago, never used eBay since. I sold a motherboard which was barely 2 months old, but even still I air compressor cleaned it before shipping. All accessories unopened etc. I'd simply upgraded to a different platform from a hand-me-down a rich friend offered me, so my almost new board went on eBay. It sold, and 2 weeks later I got it back in the mail - only it wasn't my board. Same model etc, but filthy and I MEAN FILTHY and with bent pins on the socket. eBay sided with the buyer, as did PayPal, and I was £120 out of pocket.
      Luckily, after some careful investigation, I realized that the scammer was using a womans address with a different name, out of London, and I managed to figure out the address of the person who actually bought the item with their account.
      We paid them a visit.

I left positive feedback but that didn't correct the status as delivered. Is there some setting I'm missing knowing about? The seller left me back positive feedback so I'm assuming Ebay has paid the man.

    I have a question and would like your advice if you would please help me. I bought a lot ( bunch ) of new and used rubber stamps from someone on eBay. It was a auction or bidding buy on 70 plus rubber stamps. The shipping was $13.65 dollars (US) and my bid was $25.00 dollars. It was sent with insurance on the items. My problem is when it arrived the box was badly ripped and 7 or more stamps are missing. I contacted the seller and she filed the paperwork at the post office but said it would take awhile for the claim to go through. She offered to refund me some monies now so I don’t have to wait on the claim from the post office. She asked me to tell her what I thought was a far amount to refund me. The amount I think is far is, 2.52 for the missing stamps (70 ./. 25= 0.36 , .36x7=2.52) and the shipping cost of 13.65 , the total refund I am asking for is $16.17 dollars. As a selller do you think that is far? Or should I wait for the post office claim? I am fairly new to buying stuff on eBay and have never had this happen before. Oh, and the items that are missing can’t be replaced. Do you think this is fair? If not, what would you request as a refund? Thank you for your help in this matter. MC

    You forgot to bring up seller's main fraud, Ebay knows abut it, because Ebay still make money and by staying on fraud seller's side if a buyer doesn't want to get after seller, here how it goes; after we order the items, and pay for it, immediately we get the messages from Ebay the item is shipped, but there is no tracking numbers, so our money stays in Ebay, and seller's account until the process for not delivery is finalized
