I think they made some nice changes this year. The addition of trade clauses and being able to trade picks, along with locking player lines are great additions.
My biggest complaints are it doesnt seem like you can train players to change their scheme fits and the menus look SUPER laggy which has been a problem in NHL games for years now. But I cant lie these changes to Franchise may have given me enough to consider buying the game day one. Im hoping for something to be shown for Be A Pro but i'm not holding my breath on that.

It looks promising. I especially like the idea of giving prospects season goals. It's a little weird that they have added back changing player positions but made you do it through a conversation
Love the split stats, the new menu is refreshing. Awards history was something on my list. Box scores and that is great addition. The NMC ntc is a nice add. All in all a lot of things that should have been in ages ago but it's good to see everything in.

A lot of great changes but man those convo's are gonna get boring FAST. Way too much effort put into those. No LTIR & Three team trade is a massive L. LTIR especially although 3 team trades are becoming a lot more common in the NHl.
Best franchise mode updates I’ve seen in years. It’s not even close. I think the last I was this excited was when they updated the drafting and scouting system. These upgrades smoke that. This is in the right direction That being said…I’ve seen them make GM Mode improvements in the past and the mode would still have things that don’t work 100% and just still buggy. Let’s see how this mode plays out… My biggest concern is that everything seems to be a “conversation” with your players and coaches…might mean taking forever to get through a season sim and requiring lots of patience and clicking through convos…we saw how annoying that is with Be a Pro….
Only complaint I have is that they still don't show who got the assists for each goal when you're simming through a game. Could also add who took each penalty too on the same screen as goals.
Honestly I think EA should give themselves a pat on the back. It looks like the mode has a lot more life to it than it's ever had in years, it's like you said "They have a small team with such small time to complete it and so many things people want". I think we knew EA wasn't going to address everything but the things that they have addressed we have to give them credit for✅💯
I think it's gonna be great the first few hours, but I have a feeling it's going to suck long term because it's going to get insanely repetitive to do all those same conversation menus over and over
What I'm taking from these changes is that we're starting to get back to the old days of Franchise Mode. All we need for it to be that way is the RPG elements that make you're negotiating skills, motivating skills, etc better throughout the mode.

X doubt update mid video: even if the menus stay as awfully slow and laggy as they've been since 15 this looks like the biggest upgrade franchise will see in my lifetime so I'll probably play the game for more than 2 hours this year
still no 3 way trades lol i do like the stuff with the contracts this is a plus me i play the games in franchise i wonder for the people who sim the games . they added goals for the players now will that slow down the players who sim the games trying to reach the players goal to make them happy .
Will the AI use the conversation system too? Can we see players on AI have changes on their play style and position too or is this system for the users only?
@@jacobmurphy4994to be fair plenty of GM’s give out NTC/NMC like candy in the actual NHL. There are a bunch of bottom of the lineup guys that have some form of trade protection. Like Travis Hamonic got a full NMC on a 2year deal to be a teams 6/7 Dman.
You know what as both a Leaf fan and somebody that believes people should fight for what they deserve I feel like both Don and Swayman should dig in and fight for what they believe in. If Swayman thinks he's worth 10 million then He should fight for it. And if Don thinks he's worth 6 million then he should fight for 6 million. It's the right thing to do.

All of that is great. I'm happy they added what they added. But all I ever wanted was for my coach to put the correct line on the ice when required am sick of needing my top line out there, but getting my forth line. Please address this.

How much does this have to do with the "Morale" function? I've been keeping Morale turned off because it's been a buggy PITA to have to deal with and the players are always whining. Does the "Clause" functionality now require Morale to always be on?
it does seem at least that you can help a player's overall with season goals. Hopefully, the CPU also takes advantage of this feature or CPU players have better development than human controlled players to compensate
I usually don't get nhl games day 1. I usually wait until after Christmas when it drops in price. Im definitely getting this as soon as i can. I wosh this dropped sooner otherwise i would have gotten the early access

The changes they made to franchise mode are awesome, and I'm excited, but not having cross platform roster sharing is a big L. They have had how many years to get that done? It might be high on the list, but with the amount of changes they made to franchise mode this year, leads me to believe they will ignore it more the next 2, 3 years, so probably going to be a while before its actually in the game, i would think
My biggest question is, is there a punishment for not upholding your end of the bargain when you promise first line minutes or powerplay to a player and then you don’t do it ? Is it only a morale punishment ? And will it affect their overall heavily ?
These are great, but I wish they would fix simple bugs that have been around for years. Goalie gear not matching team colours, or re-setting after being edited, is INFURIATING. Then add in the completely unrealistic salaries players ask and sign for, defenceman wanting WAY more money than what they’re worth (80 overall dmen wanting $5m+ is so absurd). Until they fix these kinds of issues, the game will be close to unplayable for someone who wants realism
I might actually buy the game since 2019…franchise mode is my true love and having these changes make me excited again. Might wait for the full release to see what’s working vs not working
For the contract negotiations it seems weird that you have to have conversations with them just to make them more enticed to sign with you whereas before you didn’t have to spend 10 mins doing that and they would treat you the same as all the other teams. Just seems like a massive time sync for no extra benefit compared to previous franchise mode.

For the playstyle change, doesn't this mean a goon squad would be a little easier to achieve as you could just draft the best player available and hope they change into a PWF/GRN or a DFD?
They mentioned that attributes play into it so i don't think you can take a 5,7 winger and make them a Enforcer defenseman. I kind of like that they let people play the way they want.

Is there a possibility to change goalie masks, a mask creator ? The most masks are boring and about 10 years old. Maybe one day this team learns that every goalie has his own mask design.
Is the end of HUT? With HUT 99% based off the manipulation of EA TILT factors, will the base take on Franchise. HUT is an utter disgrace with Beginner Stick having such a huge advantage in TILT. Current Champs Week vs Skill Stick: 5-0-0 GAA 0.83 SV% 0.927, versus Beginner Stick 1-9-1 GAA 5.43 SV% 0.736 Last 9 Weeks of Champs vs Skill Stick: 46-6-3 GAA 1.86 SV% 0.877, versus Beginner Stick 28-73-5 GAA 4.65 SV% 0.764 Game play between the two is beyond significant, the Magnetic puck, the stupidity of your players, goalie having zero capability of puck tracking... Obvious reason they had to end the WGC, can't be paying money out to manipulated game, right. Hopefully, this edition can rebound from the last two.
And how much of this stuff ISN'T going to work as intended? Or get misused by AI general managers? Is gameplay going to align with all this? Is my first line center going to have half as many faceoffs than the rest of the league because I played a lot of the games? Is this just another EA bate and switch? Is the game going to play good for the first week and then when some RUclips influencer-bitch complains about some HUT bullshit and the whole damn game gets screwed up because they tweaked it to tone down whatever defensive tools they had? Hmmm? This is still EA. There's going to be something that makes this game unplayable. I'd bet good money on it.

this is the biggest step i think franchise mode has taken in terms of GM simulating and I am actually no longer regretting pre ordering this early

franchise looks like a huge upgrade. my biggest complaint is how much of it is thru the conversation menu which has always felt slow and tedious.
