VISUAL REALISM needs to be in the Art Director Bible for nearly all mediums, especially video games and most film and television. FPS games really started to get out of hand there for awhile with overly stylized color grading and heads-up displays that really separated the player and audience from the experience, which is the exact opposite of what mediums should be doing, particularly first person point of view gaming. Haven’t seen the rest yet, but this alone needed to be pointed out.
I always wondered how devs can release something that doesn't work. Like when they test it before releasing, are they somehow playing something fun that the consumer is missing?
I think Unrecord is probably going to be leagues better than Bodycam just because of the time between the teaser vid and the release date. I also think the former will benefit from being more of a story-driven single player experience than a PvP type of shooter, especially with the latency issues you experienced. But yeah, this isn't the future of FPS. I think this style works for a very particular type of game and gameplay loop and few games will be able to pull it off successfully. I do hope the folks behind Bodycam can get the actual gameplay worked out though because I do think it could be a satisfyingly intense experience if done correctly.
while i agree on you with alot of stuff the gunplay i cant agree with you on its supposed to be trash as you say its supposed to simulate real life as much as possible i dont know if you have ran drills in real life but its pretty close how they have simulated the weight of your gun the inertia of your character the entire point of this genre is to simulate its not cod or tarkov or even something like squad and hopefully the gunplay stays the same its the entire reason im excited for it its not everyones cup of tea
I think they should have just made this a vr game would be great for the vr community considering we don’t have anything really like this. and it seems like the foundation is already there for this to be a great game .
(DevilDog): ITS SO BAD I haven't put this game down since release lol Love the gameplay. Just needs more maps, weapon choice and customization and a better leveling/ranking system. This game has SO much potential
To me it just needs a major backer without them taking too much control you know. Like someone coming in and saying you two are the bosses but heres some ideas and all the resources you could ask for. Iron it out and make it the best game ever. I think without support it will pop and flop quick
What the money does is simply allow you to hire people and provide rigs to develop on (plus marketing etc but that's not relevant to this discussion). In that case, there will always be a change when you bring new ideas and talents in.
@@Quazzi yes I agree and the change would be good, as long as the investor let the two original devs here drive and control which ideas become integrated. Too many investments or companies that buy indie devs and their games try to manipulate the flow to be a more marketable item in their view, which it's understandable why they do this, but it almost always leaves it in a state where you can see where it was intended to go vs where it's going and you get stuck in a muddy in-between. They need an investor that can come in and say hey we have the resources and staff to iron this out make it flow the way you want, your in control of what they do but they'll give you ideas and expand the capabilities of the project. That way it stays on the designed course. With just these two guys I don't see it progressing enough to be a big game or esports ready or anything, but with these two guys, who clearly have a defined idea of what they're doing, driving a team of people you could get a really good experience and I could see with some added features and modes it being a good esports game as well
@@preflightdrip8672 It's tricky, I doubt the developers have any experience leading a team of developers so it's a big gamble for investors to do that.
@@Quazzi true. That's where you bring in a skilled dev manager to be the third member of the leadership team with them. Transfer their wants into understandable projects for the team
@@preflightdrip8672 It's certainly doable but I think a game like this is more of a technical curiosity and kinda like a tech demo rather than something with huge commercial potential worthy of large investment. This is why I doubt there'd be anyone willing to give such control to two devs who have essentially profited off becoming the first to go viral with this idea, I don't see a long-term future for this game beyond the small indie level which is fine and I'm sure they're more than happy with it's success.
From what i can tell, 90% of the visuals are Quixel megascan assets. high quality visuals but not optimised for high intensity fps gameplay. we are gonna see a lot of these games coming out in the near future since Quixel was bought by unreal and its free to download any asset or texture, somewhat the new generation of asset flip games.
I think this game if it follows the likes of Black and IGI as singleplayer one guy arm campaign it could be incredible, multiplayer I think it's a horrible idea since a lot of players will take it competitively and start complaining about literally everything.
This is my take from someone that put under 2 hours into the game and refunded it, also I have 100 hours in grey zone warfare which arguably is also a realistic shooter. The game is no more than a 15 dollar tech demo, in its current state it does not warrant the 30 dollar price tag it currently has. With that said my suggestion would be wait until it is discounted because it needs to happen or it will die very soon

I understand that from the business point of view those things are basically synonymous, but I cannot help to think that you mistake "atroucious gameplay" with "realistic" one. Because the way you describe the "issues" with shooting and gameplay in Bodycam sounds basically like the ones that I experience in real life. I absolutely loved the "can't see shit cause it's so dark or can't see shit cause flashlight is so bright" part of the game in the night. AAAAAND! The way that the shooting is designed here - is the only one that makes it feel real in terms of aiming with the barrel of the gun. No-scope was in games since always, true, but the binary way it's implemented makes it feel so stiff. Here you actually can shoot in the middle of scoping animation. I am not sure - but it looks like you can also shoot the fun before you actually bring it up? Wonder if u can shoot your feet that way :D
BodyCam posted the first Body-Cam unreal 5 gameplay video then unrecord copied them. Unrecord has the exact gunplay it’s a setting in unreal. I’ve played all the closed alpha versions, the gun play is part of the game it’s not cod or GreyZone. Your take feels like your paid by another game since every other content creator though the gameplay was the most intense fps they’ve ever played
Games should do away with these kind of gimmicks, especially if there's PvP element. Could be a cool way to spectate or control AI teammates and such, but shouldn't be the player perspective.
Hard disagree, newer stuff in pvp is what makes it fun. If I want a normal shooter I have literally endless amounts of them. More experimental niche stuff like this is very welcome in my eyes. PVP doesn’t need to be perfect, it should just be fun and unique which this most definitely is
@@knowtheplan472 It's a barebone game with a high contrast fisheye cam filter gimmick, I don't see how it's that unique at all. It's like saying shaky cam makes an action movie fresh. What do you think about Bodycam and do you like the gunplay?
Terrible.

"Beautiful visuals don't match terrible gunplay" - that line describes both Bodycam's and real life gunplay ^^
I think if they get the gunplay down, this looks like it would be a very cool game
100%
Hell I haven't watched your videos in sooo long man I missed your content glad I am back

The gunplay reminds me of totally accurate battlegrounds/ totally accurate battle zombielator
