Actually a pigeon never feel lost, they can feel the magnetic field of the planet, so even inside the line train they constantly know where they are. For exemple a parrot can get lost easily if it escapes its house, a pigeon will remember the feeling of his house location and even if you put it far away he'll come back to the location where the feeling is similar to its home, until he reaches it. Of course is he is stucked too many time in another location he'll start to make a new life there, and will come back to this place, so in the middles ages people had to carry the bird with them to send a message, but they constantly moved the bird to be sure he would return to his old home. Also they can remember few home-spot, a pigeon could rest a day to get food in a seconday home, deliver the message, and then continue to go home after that. These tricks still work today so it is still possible to send messages with pigeons in 2021. In Polynesia they use pigeons to carry medecines between islands, that's still the faster way possible without planes because they take off immediatly and doesn't require landing runway. They fly about 60 miles/hour and can reach 500 miles in a single flight.
Second pigeon looked like they learned that “people standing up” means “door about to open”. Stayed near the door and stood behind that one guy ever so politely.
Pigeons are very intelligent birds, but almost noone knows it. They can recognize themselves in a mirror and remember faces and persons, even when the wear other clothes. But when they panic they get stupid very quick. They still are and will be fligth animals. But I know for sure, they don't deserve the hate they get!
Im a Londoner and have watched them over many years, Thats the Circle line. I think it is easier for them to remember this particular line because it loops. They listen to the announcement and know which stop is their destination, In this video they didn't get split up. The second pigeon wanted to go to that stop! Absolute truth!
no they said pigeons use the subway for food bc they know there is food their and when they are donw they take another train to another station to eat again
I've been watching pigeons ride the rocket in Toronto and the London underground, and my brain can't help adding regional accents to the pigeons. The confused pigeon is mumbling in cockney.
Imagine what is going on in their heads after stepping into an abnormally cold room made out of unknown material they've never seen before with color patterns and spots on them, the room suddenly starts accelerating slowly, then they hear a automated voice announce something in a complex unknown language they don't understand. Not to mention the room being filled with "aliens." Their fellow birds won't believe them.
Birds use earths magnetic fields to navigate so it's entirely reasonable they would be able to use the tube, perhaps they prefer to catch the train on windy days when flying would use a lot of energy.
That one bird seemed to finally move when it heard ‘Notting Hill Gate’. Impressive how they’ve associated those names with locations. Think about it, to the bird those words are nothing but foreign sounds that it understood had a meaning that it paired with a mental image. Not sure how people think pigeons are stupid.
their slowly learning give them a decade and they'll conquer the trains also since they can sense where they are your gonna be seeing a ton of pigeons using trains like they got a job
smart pigeons using the district line to get to a station one of them got off at notting hill gate station and one of them stayed on the train to get to the next station witch is high street kensington station
The problem is he list the partner during this travel as it leave first. Pigeons r making couple for all life. That's why he was so worried. I hope they will find each other 😢
PIGEONS DESPERATELY NEED HELP !! 90% of pigeons in cities die in their first year of their lifes. The others don't live longer than 2-3 years. In nature, they can live up to 12-15 years ! They have nothing to eat, they are forced to eat trash and they freeze to death. Pigeons can NOT live naturally in cities. They are only here because of breeders !!
I love how the camera man is respecting the pigeon distancing from it.
The fact everyone is respectful of it's space makes me like British people more
Londoners are used to pigeons using the underground its been going on so long that nobody really cares.

Thanks for your comprehensive comment. It seems you really know your carrier pigeons. Are you secretly David Waitzman of RFC1149 fame?
It is not feeling it. In fact a new study suggests that they are seeing the magnetic field in a similar way as headup displays in cars work.
@@mobeats2443 I just live near belgium, pigeons are famous there
@@fabio19h thats cool as shit
That sounds almost fantastic
Second pigeon looked like they learned that “people standing up” means “door about to open”. Stayed near the door and stood behind that one guy ever so politely.
They know it’s faster then flying and that it will take them where many people that might feed them are.
Pigeons seem to know the tube quite well. Hope they remember to pay their fares. I wonder if they're able to read the map?

They will. The other birds do it all the time

I use to see this as worked in Holland Park & funny to watch them jumping on & off & seems like they knew exactly where there going.
Poor thing lost it's mate at the first stop and probably had to go looking for it after a quick a snack.
:(
It be like that sometimes, you miss the stop and now you got to take the next stop.
It's honestly funny in a way. Pigeons have evolved to now take subways as a way to conserve stamina.
Nice video. Pretty smart pigeons. Glad to see commuters left them alone.
Pigeons are amazing
Both are "string feet" birds, so cant walk well without pain. Smart of them to board the train

He lost its friend I hope he took the train back 😞
where the little homie going?
Pigeon really said:"Fuck flying this is my stop😎"
It seemed so confused at 1:07 when the doors closed 😂
That was probably another train

"Omg, I forgot to get off, I forgot to get off. Darn it! Now I'll have to go back one stop."
The classic Londoner - something unusual happens and don't seem to care
I like how there's pigeons in a train and no one cares, like 'Oh,, those two again whatever'
the pigeons will take back this world some day
Pigeon on train:
London commuters: I pretend I do not see it
And he also respects the yellow safety line.
Awe poor thing. They form bonded pairs and this is very stressful to lose partner
Here in Spain happened something like that, a magpie in a bus from Madrid.
I hope they both not lost way
Awesome im lovin’ it

I felt sad when first one left the other behind. :(
Oh no he got left behind!
And that's how pigeons travel when they get tired of flying all the time.
Going to BlackHawk I would think. They may be smart enough to use it, but can they sense lines?
I think it will be smart enough to ride the next train back.
I wonder if it found it's friend after this😂
RESPECT TO THE CAMERA MAN 🫡
1:10 Female pigeon : Roger this is not our stop !!
is on jubilee line too
This is the best fact and actually I love this fact
"Hong Pigeon" will be proud of this video.
When I shown a Pigeon inside a S8 Stock to my Grandmother, she was laughing

Hey! Hungry pigeon here.. Who has the bidding of chips...😍
Those sky rays was the only thing that scared me about London.
Why fly when you can use the tube!
Girl:what the?
Boy: what the?
At High St Ken they were so scared lol
A couple of surveillance drones go to the base to recharge
Dude needs the next stop to go to Hyde Park 😅
Dude I never saw that on the s stock XD
