You are one of the very very few youtubers with around 1 million subs that isn’t flashy. That’s good thing, watching your videos I don’t feel like I’m watching a tv show or an advertisement. It’s more like I asked you about something and you’re sitting on your bed telling me about it causally. I appreciate that, it makes you come off trustworthy and reliable. That is the RUclips I really always loved seeing
I just want to thank you for always doing videos that YOU want to do and not getting sucked into the same old "trendy" videos. You're ideas are always fun and new!
Oh sweet JESUS! And I mean your going NEED JESUS and several videos, (maybe a bottle of wine too)LOL. As I HAVE "Been there done that" lol. but in the end, it's well worth it, they are great!!
Kelsey Hoffman oh good if it coming along well..(not so much for me on my first attempt) BUT ..I'll admit I am NOT handy around the house or with a screwdriver, HAHA....GOOD FOR YOU and Enjoy LOVE....THEY ARE PERFECT FOR US MAKEUP ADDICTS!!
It was designed to be reminiscent of older mascaras. The whole company runs on “vintage” makeup. It’s kind of neat and I feel like it’s more useful in many ways than tubes as it doesn’t go bad in a month.
Susan Darby Saine lol!! All the super crazy dirt-phobic makeup gurus nowadays would be horrified but I still lick my brushes to apply eyeshadows etc 😂😂😂
Spoolie brushes are definitely the way to go with the Besame cake mascara! I have the brown for a universal product I can use for brows, liner and a natural tint mascara. They actually sell a set with a spoolie and liner brush ($15, kind of steep) recommended for the cake mascara.
Try a spoolie brush that you like? Are there any mascaras you have sitting around that you didn't like the formula of, but you like the brush? Take the brush out, wash it off, and keep it with the cake mascara. Or just your run of the mill brow spoolie brush would work as well, and a lot better than the vintage recreation one. :)
My mother used cake mascara and I think I did too when I first started with makeup. The brush she had was smaller and the bristles were shorter and denser. Amazingly, it actually would stay on even if your eyes watered. Cheers!
Yay! What we just learned in chemistry came in handy because I can tell you that the powder lip product probably felt cold because it is probably an endothermic reaction meaning it needs heat, so it takes heat out of the environment (your lips) which makes it feel colder. Love ya, Emily! Another great video!😘😆
I think your lashes look beautiful with that mascara! I tend to hate mascaras that make the lashes look like spider legs, so I might have to give it a go.
I've really been enjoying Pacifica's Aquarian Gaze mascara. It gives your lashes color, makes them look a little lengthened and separated and stays put really well...surprisingly well. It is a wet formula though, so you have to be careful when applying it or it will go everywhere. But I love the way it looks...no spider legs.
Emily323 Yes lol I'm a true New Englander! I wanted my iced latte from Dunkin' but couldn't find any open, I was so sad lol every other storm there was at least 1 open not today! I had to run to the grocery store also! I also felt like cleaning my car off before it got even worse and even more cold it would have been worse to clean it off tomorrow! But I'm home in bed watching RUclips now! 😁 And it feels SO good haha
FYI- Elf has come out with their version of the Velvetizer. Mine came today, so I haven't had a chance to try it out. It comes with a little paddle to scoop the powder onto your foundation if you use it as a mix in. Otherwise, it is a very fine powder that I look forward to using under my eyes. (Powder under my eyes tends to age me quite a bit.) Best Wishes ~Anastacia in Cleveland
I've only used it mixed in Elf's Flawless Finish foundation so far. It worked well to make that foundation work on my oily skin, but the mixture was a little hard to blend on my skin. That is probably to be expected, though. I haven't tried to to set my concealer with it yet, though. ☺
I used the Besame mascara with an ELF spoolie brush and thought it was pretty good. But, when I would clean my brush it made a total mess of my bathroom sink. Overall too much work as compared to just grabbing a tube of traditional mascara especially when traveling.
I love that mascara! I find its best to use a mascara brush you like and yes you do need to do multiple drops if you are building. The hold is bomb tho and it’s very eco friendly!
Such a fun video Emily! I love the velvetizer, I wear glasses daily and ALWAYS get transfer and foundation removal where the frames touch my face, so far out of all setting powders I've tried, the velvetizer works best. Of course, I'd be interested if you have some other recommendations, thanks!!
For the jelly blushes, have you tried going straight into the product with your stipple brush very lightly instead of applying with the finger first? I haven’t tried them myself, but I really felt like that would be how I’d apply them. Let me know if you’ve tried it or if you try it later!! Because truly the color is gorgeous and I love the glow it gave, it’s such a shame they don’t work well!
I love that brow product and I apply it like you suggested; a small angled brush and then use a spoolie. Haven't used anything else on my brows since I got it.
I like that Tattoo Studio brow gel but I have very sparse brows so I can't use the included applicator because holy instant caterpillar eyebrows. Instead, I use an angled brow brush to dip into the product that's on the applicator and use light strokes to paint on hair. Works like a dream!
Yes!! Use a spoolie wand! Besame actually has a set available for purchase and I gotta say it separates my eyelashes SO WELL! Best applicator I've used, coats every single lash for a very natural look with all the benefits of the mascara that you mentioned! There is definitely a learning curve to the mascara but I LOVE IT!
I got the Butter London Glazen Eye Gloss in Ultra Violet and I love it! A little goes a long way...I use it as an eye shadow topper or you can build it up and use it on it's own.
I just discovered your videos last night while looking for some shadow ideas for soft glam and your look was beautiful yet easy enough to recreate. You are an amazing teacher and I can't wait to see more videos!
I too love American Idol, I didn’t know about the judges but after watching the two episodes, yes love the judges. I’ve been blown away already with some of the contestants.
"Just let me have my fun" oh, take your time! Love love love your channel for years now (at least 7), so please have as much fun as you can, it is always enjoyable to watch!!
I have extremely sparse brows, and I've tried both Wunderbrow and Maybelline Tattoo Studio brow gel. They both work extremely well for building up a brow shape when you're working with next to nothing, but I've definitely found they work best when I use a small angled brush to apply rather than the brush/doe foot the products come with.
I recommend the acoustic version of Wonderwall (Oasis) with Noel Gallagher singing.. It is such a beautiful song.. and there are two live versions of it slowed down with Noel singing .. it is magical!! EDIT - so glad you're trying the Butter Glazen blushes.. I love the ones for the eyes.
I have blepharitis(lash line gets painful and itchy) when using almost any mascara. I found some cake mascaras have fewer ingredients and don't bother my eyes. Works better with spoolie. Can also use disposable mascara wands
This type of mascara was the first I ever used and I liked it. Don’t have any tips but I think I am going to have to get some for old time sake. Thhis was a fun video. Thanks.
Hi Emily, I tried the Besame mascara, but with a normal mascara want ''spoolie''/brush stule (not silicone) and the definition was much better and it kept the curl nicely. Actually, I kept an old Voluminous Mascara wand that I bent with an angle so I could scrub the mascara cake better. Let me know how it goes for you!
I know that I am in for a treat when you are SO excited to do a video before you start. Wow! Cake mascara. I read about it in Lisa Eldrige's book, " Face Paint".
I love the Velvetizer for all its uses! For foundations that are just ok, I use the Velvetizer and it bumps up the foundation to beautiful! It's also a gorgeous setting powder for foundations that are already beautiful!
1. You’re making me hungry with mousse, jelly and cake. 2. I love how you treat your viewers like your best friend in the room with you. Waiting shortly for responses, saying things like ‘See what that did?’, showing us the outside. 3. I love hoe excited you STILL get about makeup for how long you’ve been doing your channel. 4. I refer to yo as my friend Emily in IL when people ask how I learned something or where I saw a certain makeup. It’s stranger telling them that i ‘follow’ this lady I don’t know and pick up her tricks, tips and suggestions. Lol 5. The lady in the beauty section at Target has started watching you because I come in each week to get something new that you’ve talked about.
You put such thought and care into your videos. Can’t believe you found something weirder than the Gelee blush! Crazy cool lip powders. And that mascara!
Wet Beauty blenders help me when I use cheek gels. It gives you more time to blend. They’re the only thing that lasts on my oily skin. I gave up on finger blending or finding the right brush.
I love the Butter London Glazen eye glosses. It has the some texture as the blush and looks beautiful pressed on the lids. I'm not a fan of the blushes, mostly because I don't like metallic blush.
When I saw that mascara it totally took me back to watching grandma, momma and aunties putting on their makeup for sunday service... we also used it alot in theater because it keeps longer than regular mascara and you didnt have to replace it nearly as often. Try using it with a regular spoolie brush, I def prefer it that way. Love your content my dear! Love from Idaho!
Are you going to get the Besame Agent Carter collection? Would love to see the collection when it comes out. Hope you can do a review on that. Loved your review on the Snow White Besame collection.
I still use my maybelline dream bounce blush on a daily basis during the winter months. It looks so seamless and I have dry skin so it blends perfect with the rest of my cream products.
Emily I have a video request that I think you’d really enjoy! I would love to see a video on products “you need a little more of” and products “you need a little less of”. For example you have advised us to use a small bit of Tarte Shape Tape in order to get the best result because too much looks cakey. I think this kind of video from you would be very helpful! Lots of love from Texas!! ❤️
Similar texture to the dream matte is Magic Finish by M. Asam. It’s a German brand and a big seller in Europe. I purchased mine from HSN years ago and it’s just a great weekend (or anytime) go to. Evens out my skin tone, has pretty good coverage, and has a wonderful smoothing effect. I love it and would recommend to anyone!
Hehe... I’m in my 60’s and remember using cake mascara. We also used it as a liner too. Ahhh, the memories of our fashion/makeup icon of the time, Twiggy. Thank you for bringing the memories back and making me smile 😊
I have an incredibly difficult time getting my eyelashes to curl let alone stay that way with some mascaras. I'd really love to know how the mascara cake works with a spoolie or a cleaned off wand from another brand. I'd like to know how those blushes work with a damp sponge from the back of the hand. The colors are so pretty. Great video Em!
Great vid!!! So much fun. I was hoping u were gonna use the Tarte Finger foil paints palette. I swatched it the other day n it felt insane!! Also the farsali jelly highlighter
YES! Another amazing video idea from Emily! I can always count on you and Jessica from Jambeauty89 to deliver creative, amazing content. Also, still waiting to see you two collab...... #justsaying #fromsimilarareaofcountry......
Angie Lott aka angelang83- I went back to Jessica’s channel b/c I knew it was a very recent video, & it is a GRWM, New Drugstore & High End Makeup. If you watched it & just don’t remember the blush part, it is at time mark 24min! I know she has “pregnancy brain “, but she seriously gets so flustered by this blush she starts to say how she feels about it & then stops mid sentence to start over like 3 times..lol! If you missed that video, it’s a longer one, but a really good one!! Some new things I want to go check out!! 💕
I remember Maybelline used to offer cake mascara. It was a very soft natural look compared to what I prefer. Good for coloring your lashes but it didn't offer much in the way of lengthening.
I bought the Dream Velvet Mousse foundation. They dont have the Dream Velvet Mousse in my color but I use the darkest one to mix in my foundation to lighten it up a little and have a more smoothing effect on my skin.
I love this video! This is so fun and interesting. .the mascara I believe had a wand for it st one time and almost bought it then. I'm sure customer service would know...
I remember my grandmother had cake mascara with that same kind of brush! With all the mascara choices on the market these days I can’t imagine why anyone would even bother with that. And I love that lip color on you - so soft, rosy, and romantic looking! Fun video! 💜
Awesome video Emily as per usual. I do have a question for anyone. I like the ELF HD powder because it blurs the pores but it often has tiny white chunks in it I have to deal with. Any recommendations for an HD powder without chunks in it? Thanks!
This was fun to watch. You are so good at applying makeup, especially eyeshadow that you could use anything and it would look awesome. Thanks for sharing these odd products...xoxo
This is a great video idea! I'm trying to think of products I own that feel weird. You've got me thinking Emily! LOL American Idol is so good already! I love the 3 judges together. ABC did a good job choosing them. At first I was like, Really? I can't see them meshing well but they do! I'm excited about this season.
Emily's videos are always so thoughtfully planned out and executed never failing to teach me something or show me a product I've never heard of but that is interesting. One of the few influencers who got me to try drugstore products again and here is the LA Colors iced shadow I've never heard of tho I will be seaking it out now to try Same with the Besame mascara. So fascinating
Can't tell you enough how much I love your videos. So nice to feel like you're watching a real person living a real life. Really does feel like just hanging out with a friend. And I love how excited you get about your video ideas. p.s. can you try the catrice pink under eye corrector paste? I heard it's a dupe for the Boing paste.
You come up with such creative video ideas. Your always coming up with something different and fun. Love you emily💜. And I love your excitement over makeup. It’s contagious
I've never tried the mac concealer but I think the pur cosmetics shake and bake would have been great. Although I've had it for months I've only used it once or twice
I picked up that Maybelline brow tint and I was surprised at how much I liked it! My brows are thick, but very blonde... I think I could get a similar effect from my regular NYX brow mascara by back combing , but the brow tattoo really does add some "volume" to the brows, which I like!
It's been a while since I've made time for one of your videos and wow I didn't realize how much I missed your friendly, honest conversation. I've been a viewer for YEARS, since before I started high school and I'm now a college grad. Just wanted to say hello again, thanks for continually putting out such consistently quality content, your videos are like talking to a friend and a professional at the same time :)
Please try that mascara as an eyeliner! With a damp angled brush maybe!! Let me know how that works!
I just want to thank you for always doing videos that YOU want to do and not getting sucked into the same old "trendy" videos. You're ideas are always fun and new!
“It’s classier than a jelly!” 🤣🤣🤣
a 25 minute Emily video to keep me company while i build my first Ikea Alex drawer for my makeup collection??? heaven! 💕🙌🏻
yay! good luck!!!
emilynoel83 thanks Em, love you lots! it’s coming along nicely, i’m pretty proud of myself!
That mascara is just like my first mascara (late 50s early 60s)
Susan Darby Saine sounds like something i would do
Carmen Fleming Yep Maybelline in a red slide out tray.
Lois.....yes exactly! My 2 older siblings used the red slide box Maybelline cake mascara!!
Once again... awesome video! You always keep us on our toes even though by now many of us just watch you cause you're like a friend to us.
Spoolie brushes are definitely the way to go with the Besame cake mascara! I have the brown for a universal product I can use for brows, liner and a natural tint mascara. They actually sell a set with a spoolie and liner brush ($15, kind of steep) recommended for the cake mascara.
Jen Picknell how does it work as a liner?
Try a spoolie brush that you like? Are there any mascaras you have sitting around that you didn't like the formula of, but you like the brush? Take the brush out, wash it off, and keep it with the cake mascara. Or just your run of the mill brow spoolie brush would work as well, and a lot better than the vintage recreation one. :)
Wow you look gorgeous Emily & i love how descriptive you are with products.
I look forward to your uploads ❤️
I remember using cake eyeliner/mascara back in the 60's. I think I just outed myself that I am getting up there in years.
It's ok you're still a Toys R US young lady 😉
My mother used cake mascara and I think I did too when I first started with makeup. The brush she had was smaller and the bristles were shorter and denser. Amazingly, it actually would stay on even if your eyes watered. Cheers!
Yay! Love your original content, Emily ❤️❤️❤️
I was impressed! Would love to see what it can do w a spoolie brush that can separate the lashes.
This was a perfect timing upload. Sitting here stuck in a blizzard in Boston, and this video comes to save the day!!
Emily323 I'm an hour from Boston and this blizzard blows! Lol ugh my crazy self went out in it though
It's just getting here to south eastern Ontario. Stay safe and stay home.
Kelly Oliveira my god, you went out in this?!?! You and my husband are brave souls for sure!! Hope you’re home nice and warm now!
it's snowing in IL too! I'm over it!
Brightfox's Den Hello fellow Clevelander!
Have you tried it yet? (:
Hey homegirl!
Lol! You have your fun! When you have fun I do too. Such a quirky video, but I loved it. 😘
My favorite foundation! Although I use it with a brush. I’d love to see something like an indie/small/online-only brands review video from you!
Gasp. Butter London blush looks like THE BLOB in the movie. It jiggles like it, too.
Great video! Elf has a fan mascara brush that works with the besame mascara.
That waterweight concealer is intriguing. I wonder how it does on dry undereyes.
Yes...., my mom had this kind of mascara too as i was a child and i remember that she spat in the box to have this special mascara...OMG
:-o
I won't lie. When I was younger like 17ish, I would use a black shadow wet for liquid liner andddd I would definitely lick the brush to wet it.
When she opened that sassy sienna JUST WOW! It looks so vibrant.
Gotta love your enthusiasm for American Idol and apologizing for saying the word moist. 🤣
My mom had a similar mascara like 20-25 years ago and I used to play with it! :D
Yes, I remember my mom having something like this in the 70s, I thought it was an eyeliner though...
Marleen G. My mom had it in the 90’s and I couldn’t understand how to use it😆
I remember using the Maybelline cake mascara in the late 70’s/early 80’s. It came in a red box.
I love that brow product and I apply it like you suggested; a small angled brush and then use a spoolie. Haven't used anything else on my brows since I got it.
I saw the title in my notifications and I cracked up! I said, “oh man! Scuze me everyone, I gotta go watch this...” 😆
Another product that would have been awesome for this video would have been that Origins cooling foam primer! Love your creative ideas!
You are fun, articulate and quirky. I can’t tell you just how much I enjoy watching your videos!
I love the velvetizer as just a setting primer and I've gone through 2 of them. Love it
I like that Tattoo Studio brow gel but I have very sparse brows so I can't use the included applicator because holy instant caterpillar eyebrows. Instead, I use an angled brow brush to dip into the product that's on the applicator and use light strokes to paint on hair. Works like a dream!
I used that foundation back in middle school in probably 2008. I loved it! I would get so many compliments.
"stiff peaks" *has an immediate PTSD flashback to the first time i tried to make lemon meringue pie*
Cady Whicker saaaaaaaame lmao
Cady Whicker oh my god lmao
Lol, me in home ec making meringue cookies! Epic fail 😂
The concealer looks really pretty and natural. The foundation.... I cant say the same but I love the overall look and this video idea!
I have extremely sparse brows, and I've tried both Wunderbrow and Maybelline Tattoo Studio brow gel. belle32100 LOVE that live Wonderwall version!
I have blepharitis(lash line gets painful and itchy) when using almost any mascara. I found some cake mascaras have fewer ingredients and don't bother my eyes. Works better with spoolie. Can also use disposable mascara wands
I love it when you get all jazzed up and excited. Clever video!
This was just fun! I love how you’re willing to go there withthe products that would just scare me like the mascara & blush. Great job.
This type of mascara was the first I ever used and I liked it. Don’t have any tips but I think I am going to have to get some for old time sake. Thhis was a fun video. Thanks.
Emily. How do you do it?? After hundreds of videos you came up with a brand new idea!! You are simply amazing and I’m so glad you’re on YT!!💝💝💝
Have you tried exactly the same technique with a spoolie? I think it would work great!
It is only me that noticed that Emily is more vibrant this last few videos?! she's so cute and animated that makes me smile too😄
I can’t even handle how fun you were in this video. I love when you make videos you obviously want to do ... so cute love 💕 as always!
I know that I am in for a treat when you are SO excited to do a video before you start. Wow! Cake mascara. I read about it in Lisa Eldrige's book, " Face Paint".

Emily, you don’t need to apologize to us for being “jazzed up!” We love you just the way you are!!
You put such thought and care into your videos. Can’t believe you found something weirder than the Gelee blush! Crazy cool lip powders. And that mascara!
for the brick mascara yes most people use a disposable spoolie, but I find a mini mascara fan brush to work best.

I just love how creative you are with your content! I have never watched a video of yours that I didn’t enjoy! This was great!
Thank you fo another fun video! As a makeup newbie, I love learning from your videos. I'd love to see how you clean your brushes and sponges! 😊👍🏼
Are you going to get the Besame Agent Carter collection? Would love to see the collection when it comes out. Hope you can do a review on that. Loved your review on the Snow White Besame collection.

Love how giddy you are in this video! You crack me up! Thank you for sharing! Much love! 💖💖
Haha, this should be fun, Emily! Good idea! I have always been curious as to how products feel on your face.

cake mascara is my favorite, I used a spoolie as well as the little brush
I have an incredibly difficult time getting my eyelashes to curl let alone stay that way with some mascaras. I'd really love to know how the mascara cake works with a spoolie or a cleaned off wand from another brand.
I'd like to know how those blushes work with a damp sponge from the back of the hand. The colors are so pretty.
Great video Em!
The Jelly eye shadows from Butter London are amazing!!
Angie Lott aka angelang83 yesssss!!!!!
Angie Lott aka angelang83 Totally agree, did you see Jessica try the Butter London jelly blush? She had the same problem & was was NOT happy, lol! 😂
I love Jessica!
Rebecca Ude not that I can recall! Maybe. I watch like 99% of Jessica’s videos! It makes me nervous to think of a jelly blush! Lol
Did you try Hydra-Mist set and refresh powder from Becca?
I love this video! This is so fun and interesting. .the mascara I believe had a wand for it st one time and almost bought it then. I'm sure customer service would know...
That is such a pretty makeup look. I really want to try the lip product.
I think it was back in the 80's that Covergirl had a powder lip product that came in a little case with a clear balm. Does anyone remember that?
Yep. I bought that with allowance money and was sad that my parents wouldn't let me wear it to school.
Your enthusiasm is why I am subscribed to your channel. You keep makeup fun!
I LOVE the velvetizer! I mostly use it as setting powder (i set my whole face with it) it is a godsent for the summer months!
Thanks!
Ooooh that butter London stuff looks like slime and I'm kinda into it, or at least the texture.
This was fun to watch. You are so good at applying makeup, especially eyeshadow that you could use anything and it would look awesome. Thanks for sharing these odd products...xoxo
Btw, I would try an old mascara wand that you really like and it might apply easier...just a thought
This is a great video idea! I'm trying to think of products I own that feel weird. You've got me thinking Emily! LOL
American Idol is so good already!
Loved it! That powder was soo light weight you could barely see it. I really liked the look of the lip powders
I'm literally stuck in the house today (16 inches of snow outside) binge watching Emily. Thank you!💜
I've never tried the mac concealer but I think the pur cosmetics shake and bake would have been great. Although I've had it for months I've only used it once or twice
I miss the cover girl whipped foundation that came out around the same time as the maybelline mousse, it was so good.
