This is so beautiful! It does transport me back to a more gracious and romantic era. Thank you for uploading this video and to the Stanford Viennese Ball for helping to keep this tradition alive.
Life was simple then with little influences from other cultures. Imagine no phones, radios or recording device's. Most people read and enjoyed the simplest way of life. It hard to imagine how things were. I for one appreciate the traditional arts.
There seems to be a revival of the Waltz in the USA. I believe there is a festival in Feb. where everyone can sign up and go to the ball. This event is annual and takes place in California. What a ROMANTIC EVENT FOR EVERY ONE !
But there still are balls and ball gowns and waltzes with cute men😘 In Vienna, where I come from, there are hundreds of balls every year and the handsome gentlemen sweep the ladies off their feet on the dance floor :)
In Hungary waltzing is a traditional thing for almost every occasion for example, we have waltzing as a prom :) just look up this word ,,szalagavató keringő" and you'll find what I'm talking about, so yeah, I'm grateful I'm Hungarian cause this year will be the year I'll graduate and have my prom... and I'll be dancing with the love of my life so it is just perfect! We'll be dancing English Waltz with the other graduates :')
I really loved the music and the dance steps. the next question is going to hard but i want to see the choreography that i can use it to my 18 birthday? thank you
Ikr. I will probably dance on "Elmayer Kränzchen" and we have to dress like this. I wish we could change the colour of the dresses - maybe into a navy blue and not white. I don't want to look like I'm getting married 😂
Sydney H, Stanford models this after the Oppenheimer ball in Wiener Austria. The Oppenheimer ball is a debutantes ball of sorts (although more democratic than a lot of debutante societies)...it's tradition for debutantes to wear white. It goes back to Queen Victoria.
I have. The places I've found either don't teach it properly or are three hours away from my home. I already knew that and could have been nicer about it.
Stanford students. It's a tradition of theirs. If you Google Stanford Viennese Ball, you can find the history. They have a Viennese Ball every year since the early 70's ever since some students did a semester in Austria. This is the opening dance (modeled after the yearly debut dance at the Weiner Oppenheimer ball in Austria).
They should teach this in schools

The dance style is individualist Western, but the choreography is collectivist Asian. The world is better off when we work in harmony.
Jamas había visto un vals tan bonito y tan coordina

I wish this was more common dancing these days. :( I have no idea where to learn the Viennese Waltz at.
wow so nice...
thats pretty cool!
восхитительно! я аплодировал
why are there 2 couples who don't dance? they did a little at the beginning but then stood to the side for most of it
yo lo estoy bailando
The formation, I love. More improvement in the Technique would make the dance more appealing.
They all look like they all got married at the same time. Dresses on point, but the color could be changed

Viennese Balls were usually danced in black or white tie and white ball gowns. Has nothing to do with weddings.
Sydney The opening is SUPPOSED to be black and white omfg....

Apakah mereka orang Asia? Sebab aku melihat tak ada satupun yang berambut pirang.
