    Great info on lighting; I like the way you throw in gels here and there; a simple but very effective touch.

      Jose Correa Its a blessing to have so many lights and I know that because there was a time in the beginning of my career that I had only one light. Thanks for following us. Jay P.

    Another great tutorial. I love how you show the lighting diagram *and* how each light affects the scene. That was a nice setup, BTW. Made for some great shots and the tool highlight was an interesting tip.

      Steven Sullivan I love the highlight on the wrench. Its a cool effect. Those types of things geek me out. I'm just a lighting nerd I guess.

    The smoke machine was a cool touch, but in my experience in using it...some associates complain of having a hard time breathing the "smoke". I wonder if they are maybe overreacting?!

    Great video!
    As for additional things to consider, I have one from personal experience: If you're doing a series of shots at different locations within the facility, don't rely on memory - have a written list!
    Once you start photographing it's easy to get carried away and lose track of time, and at that point your written list can be a life saver unless you want to explain to the client why you are out of your estimated time and still need to photograph in two additional locations...
    Actually, I'd say that all pre-production should be in writing and all plans should be thoroughly explained in lists - not because you necessarily have to stick to them completely, but at least they will save you from missing essential shots by accident.

      @TheSlantedLens  9 лет назад

      +Anders C. Madsen I completely agree that having a plan in place is necessary for shoots like this. You would suggest a FOG aka smoke machine or a HAZER in this kind of shoot ?

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  6 лет назад

      i like fog and smoke, but that's just my personal style. i like it because it adds an extra layer to the image but you can do what creatively works for you.

    Always afraid at smoke machine in industrial places where there is water fire system at the ceiling

    nice job well done, good video no waisted dialog, like the blue background and smoke, but I think you could've used a couple more lights ( joking )

    for the life of me I cannot figure out where a company would use images like these. The don't describe what the company actually does, it doesn't really document the product/service, what it looks like is a disco in their manufacturing. I just simply don't get it.
    Then again, I'm not an american so.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  9 лет назад

      juuonse The company might use these images on a cover for an annual report, internal publications or a catalog. They are meant to be a little stylistic. Thanks for watching!

  • @albertocabrera6614
    @albertocabrera6614 9 лет назад +3

    Wow, this isn't really realistic. Most manufacturing plants or companies will not give you that much time to setup all those lights or have such a complicated setup. Usually, you are on the go, go, go and only have a few minutes to setup and shoot.
    The video is outstanding. I just don;t think its a true representation on shooting in a manufacturing plant.

    • @mgr5550
      @mgr5550 6 лет назад +1

      Yes very true. The photo shoot is not their number one priority. But yet the client will expect a very good output.

    • @Mcdowells
      @Mcdowells 5 лет назад

      Totally disagree it's all on the client. Sometimes I get hours to set up for a shot and then there are times to shoot and go
