Super helpful- thank you! Most tubers talk so fast and assume people new to the hobby know everything- your tutorial was simple and to the point !! No know it all attitude!!! Thanks again !!
Nice video I was having trouble with my slash 4x4 I'll Gass it and wheels wouldn't turn so I watch this video I noticed the slipper was loose I seen how you tighten that little nut with the Spring it did the job she's running again I appreciate you for this video 🤘
I usually watch you beat the snot out of your trucks, but this time you helped me out on a fix !!!!! I built my Slash 4x4 from a roller, but when I bought it, I had the guy install a Robinson Racing Slipper so I have never had to mess with one before. Now I know how to and there's actually nothing to it. Thanks for the help Jake......Now, go tear that thing up !!!!!
Sweet this was lots of help. Also do you know if they make a stronger spur gear? My castle motor is to powerful and keeps destroying it after a couple of days.
Do you have a video on how to change all the gears for the Slash 4x4? Idk what I’m doing and i took this thing apart to clean. Idk what goes wear now lol plz help
On mine, traxxas slash vxl3s i have a plastic retainer only where that bigger on the one shown here is, idk what to do haha stick a bearing there or send it, my prollem was full throttle and a screech but no forward seemed slippish so, no teeth missing just shot small pilot bearing idk 😅
Thank you Jake for a very detailed explanation on this. Would you believe it, just straight out of the box my Rustler 4x4 Vxl stripped the gears clean after a 10min run. Pretty bummed over it. Just curious, did you also experience this with your Rustler?
I got sand in my spur gear and it got in between that and the pinion. Destroyed the gear and melted the plastic spur gear. Debating if I should just buy a whole new slipper clutch assembly, or if I should buy a new plastic gear or upgrade to steel. I’m just cautious about steel because if the pinion and steel spur gear grind it’s gonna be more expensive but it’s gonna last longer. Please lmk what I should do cuz I’m truly torn...
If I remember correctly you don't have to take apart the slipper clutch to remove the spur gear. All you need to do is, remove those three screws and slide it off and replace it.
I took mine apart today. Seems as if I have a bushing & not a bearing. Not the one that goes inside the spur gear, but the other larger one. Is this “normal”? Thank you! 🤘🏻
i bought a traxxas rustler 4x4 ultimate in march within the first week of owning the car the shock shaft snapped, weeks go by and the spur gear gets shredded twice, i spent $585 on this car and its nothing but replacing stuff. i dont beat this thing its riden on pavement and grass my slash 2wd can get beat tf up and still work its like i have to baby this thing
Guys I need your input the bearing that goes in front of the spur gear never came on my car I don’t think cause when I took the car apart I put all of my screws and shit in a bin, and now I don’t have the bearing and I’m freaking out
JackSweetBeaTS need to have a weak point somewhere. If everything was aluminum you would break the more expensive things. I use a plastic 78 tooth in my 76mph Bandit and after six months of full speed runs, the pinion and spur teeth look new with no wear. :)
Because like with many other components it's not needed, why would it be? Steel pinions on steel spurs also make a hell of a noise. Most cheap nasty alloys are a waste of time, steel is too heavy....

This was just what I needed to know. Simple and very neatly explained. Thanks!
Thanks, clearly explained with great video.👍🏻
Not a problem
i guess it is kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
Nice video I was having trouble with my slash 4x4 I'll Gass it and wheels wouldn't turn so I watch this video I noticed the slipper was loose I seen how you tighten that little nut with the Spring it did the job she's running again I appreciate you for this video 🤘

This is a totally brilliant video. Perfectly clear, excellent well-spoken instructions and the video showing each part was excellent too.

Awesome video man :) I love how the slash 4x4 was designed.Everything is really easy to get to. :)

Seems simple enough. Good clean video
Still helpful in 2024, thank you very much sir!!
this helped me a lot. if there was a love it button I would press it. I just needed to replace the spur gear.
Straight blessing. The new hoss steal ones work
Thank you for telling me how to change the spur gear
Hell yeah, great video!!! Replaced it in no time
Lol it’s funny how easy your stuff slides in. I’m over here beating it just to get the driveshaft to connect 😂
Helped me it helped me and I watched it and I just got there going through everything and got to work thank you

Sam Brentwood I have the tmaxx and slash and love the tmaxx more just the sound the smell and the realism
Thanks dude!
Great tutorial!
Thanks Daryl
great video it should be the same steps to do my Rustler 4x4 VXL
great video looks like a breeze now
Tuto thumbs up thx @@@👍🏼
Sweet this was lots of help. Also do you know if they make a stronger spur gear? My castle motor is to powerful and keeps destroying it after a couple of days.
Hey just as a question does the same procedure work with the Traxxas rustler 4x4
I have a 4x4 vxl slash does this video work with that model as well?
Nice video but how did you get out everything so easy?? For me these things were so hard to get out
Do you have a video on how to change all the gears for the Slash 4x4? Idk what I’m doing and i took this thing apart to clean. Idk what goes wear now lol plz help
On mine, traxxas slash vxl3s i have a plastic retainer only where that bigger on the one shown here is, idk what to do haha stick a bearing there or send it, my prollem was full throttle and a screech but no forward seemed slippish so, no teeth missing just shot small pilot bearing idk 😅
Are u going to do any server based videos
Thanks. 👍🏿

so to add a metal pin gear and metal spur gear do i need to add metal differential gears also.
If I remember correctly you don't have to take apart the slipper clutch to remove the spur gear. All you need to do is, remove those three screws and slide it off and replace it.
Is it the same spur gear that’s in a 1/16 slash?
part number for that bearing behind the spring?
I took mine apart today. Seems as if I have a bushing & not a bearing. Not the one that goes inside the spur gear, but the other larger one. Is this “normal”? Thank you! 🤘🏻
D.P.T. I know that I am super late to reply but it is normal if you have the brushed version
A little bit of blue loc tight on pinion screw will save a lot of headaches
I torque mine down with the air gun.. about 180 - 190lbs should do it
i love this car own blue one , and I install a dusty motors cover ,
1:40 I believe I can fly!!
is there any need to add grease to spur gear and pinion gear ? thanks
Isac Gutierez Of course there is, idiot.
do i need to grease it, mine keeps wearing how do i fix this?
i bought a traxxas rustler 4x4 ultimate in march within the first week of owning the car the shock shaft snapped, weeks go by and the spur gear gets shredded twice, i spent $585 on this car and its nothing but replacing stuff. i dont beat this thing its riden on pavement and grass my slash 2wd can get beat tf up and still work its like i have to baby this thing
How do I put on part 3956x
Hey how you doing. I just did this exact and my driveshaft has play back and forth is that normal? It seems loose
nope, that is completely normal. My stampede 4x4 is like that too.
Owiko7 alright thanks bud
Daniel Perez happy to help.
Thanks
I keep replacing it and after 2 runs the pinion gear strips the spur gear idk what I’m doing wrong it keeps happening !! Please help
Should my shaft be slide back and forth
Dudes on Bikes That's what she said?
What if the truck dosent have the three friction plates
I'm having a problem putting the whole thing back together the gear starts grinding
Guys I need your input the bearing that goes in front of the spur gear never came on my car I don’t think cause when I took the car apart I put all of my screws and shit in a bin, and now I don’t have the bearing and I’m freaking out
What size is that shaft ? Like it’s diameter ??
Usually all of the 1:10 driveshafts from traxxas are the same size and diameter.
great video but its like really really stuck and I cant get it to move it all
I cant get the first thingy off when trying to get the actual spur gear off
I did this but my spit gear isn't touching the pinion gear can anyone help me
I did all that and replaced it but the gear wore down again after 15 minutes of driving. I don’t know what the problem is.
Meshing is incorrect! :)
The only problem is that the rustler is a super tightly packed slash on massive wheels and clip less body mount
不需要螺丝胶?
Did u just put another plastic one back again 🤦🏻♂️ what r the upgrades for dommee
Blah Blah.
does it work with a fiesta
I think it's the exact same process :)
why is yours so strong mine breaks on every 2nd drive
Maybe the meshing is incorrect? :)
most likely
Some one help me
my dumbass car is like sticking together and none of the pieces come apart
U don’t need that shaft
That's terrible...why would anyone use plastic gears in. 60mph car
JackSweetBeaTS need to have a weak point somewhere. If everything was aluminum you would break the more expensive things. I use a plastic 78 tooth in my 76mph Bandit and after six months of full speed runs, the pinion and spur teeth look new with no wear. :)
Eric Grind hey man, that's great to hear. Thanks for your feedback!
