@@elanorglf You forgot to finish the sentence. It's "training in righteousness". That's a very important word in there. And Paul "meant" exactly what he said. It's all God-breathed. God spoke to us through the writers of the OT, as well as the new. It's the OT that shows our need for a Savior in the first place. It also shows man's redemption through the Messiah as our Savior. Those are the scriptures that Paul and the other disciples used to show their fellow Jews that Jesus was the fulfillment of the promise. Plus almost 30% of scripture is prophecy. Knowing the OT helps connect the dots with the prophecy of the NT as well. It's all critical.

As someone in GA who is surrounded by people (friends, family and neighbors) that go to Andy's churches, I am so hopeful that more pastors with a larger influence / ministry, such as Mike, will expose him and his theology. He, along with others like him, has created a generation of lukewarm "Christians" with no desire to repent or revere God, and it breaks my heart.

Voddie Baucham courageously teaches the true of God's word too. & so does Tony Evans & Charles (Chuck) Swindoll, all three who have helpful sermons on youtube. These 3 all graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. I am new to Mike's teaching; he seems to be a godly teacher, from what i have heard so far. meticulous to put the scripts on screen for our viewing while he teaches them : that is inviting scrutiny.
I was invited to an Andy Stanley church in 2016. At the time, I was probably in the agnostic group. I liked what I heard and kept going. Eventually, I softened up and came back to Christ. I think Andy serves the milk to get folks in the door. It tickles the ears and brings in the $$. But I stopped going a little over a year ago, when the Sunday after Oct 7th there was absolutely no mention of the events in Israel. Our campus pastor was a native Isreali and I imagine it killed him inside. Maybe they didn't get it approved in time.... If the red tape keeps you from preaching and praying about current, Biblical events, then there's an issue. No spine. The organization is too big for its own good. I have since found a Bible teaching church and read my Bible daily with prayers to not be lead astray. Thank you, Andy for pulling me back in but I need the meat, not just the milk. I appreciate Mike's respectful and thoughtful rebuke here.
Im very confused why that would be an issue for you. Israel is a secular nation that has legal abortions and provides the world with gender transition drugs for children.
@@ChildOfGodSJ I stopped going to an Andy Stanley church after he did a 3 part series on (I forget the actual title) how to get through this life. I kept waiting for him to mention the Holy Spirit, expecting that he was building up to that, but he never did. Not even once. I was so sad. People need the Holy Spirit to get through life, not another list of “to do’s”. I appreciate Mikes teachings SO much!
Humans have good intentions sometimes for the things that they try to change. Keep in mind that it says in the Bible, somewhere near the end that you are not to change or delete anything from the Bible. (Which is also confusing considering that the Catholic Church did that.) That would be my argument if they would come against you

Charles Stanley was the BEST. He faithfully honored the Scriptures and taught the Truth. He is dearly missed. I am saddened that his son is misleading people and not faithful to the Word not only on this topic but in other topics too. Thousands of sheep naively follow him. Pray for him to repent!

Too bad. I agree but what a shame. I think I may have just realized that I idolized Dr. Charles Stanley which is a grave sin. So, seeing that the son is not someone to follow saddens me. That is confusing too. Should I beat myself up because I loved one teacher that told the truth, like Mike? There are many reasons why people leave their faith. I tend to have low self-confidence because I am so guilty of sins that I am not even aware of. I think Christians forget about grace. We're all on the same team, right? I feel like I can't breathe sometimes.

Fasting for longer periods of time can permanently alter your metabolism; some doctors (professing Christians) have advised against it. God will help you

Oh Mike thank you thank you thank you for this video. Please continue to correct Andy Stanley he is in such grave error and I am heartbroken about it. My children go to that church 😢. I thought I had taught them to be more discerning but to my horror they believe every word he says. I am unable to talk to them about it without being told they will no longer have a relationship with me. I cannot send them wonderful information like your video which would help them. Please pray that they will come out of this awful teaching and please pray that our family relationship can be restored. Many blessings to you and your family
Andy is a really good teacher and knows how to make something practical and easy to understand. We've been watching some of his sermons in our small group for quite some time and in the beginning I loved it. But as I started reading deeper into scripture I got a little uncomfortable with his teachings but could not really pin point what it was. It was always small little comments I did not agree with. Thank you for this.
Hello Mike. I view the letter to the Hebrews as a summary of the whole Bible. It quotes the OT extensively. It does not supersede it. It ties the NT and OT together ... as one.
Thanks for the video, Mike. Throwing away the Old Testament means throwing away the Old Testament prophecies that Jesus clearly fulfilled. The Old Testament has reinforced my faith that Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah. I definitely don’t understand everything in the Old Testament, but I have enough evidence to convince me that Jesus fulfills the promises contained within and that encourages me to submit to His yoke and trust Him for the rest. Brother Mike, I've been very blessed by your ministry, I've said this before I want you to understand the positive change it's made in my life. Something that I appreciate about you and don't take this wrong is the fact that you're flawed, you're human, and you don't try to hide that. I don't feel the need to hold you up on a pedestal to benefit from your ministry. on the contrary knowing that you're just as human as I am helps me to understand that nobody is perfect except Christ and that he uses us with our imperfections to accomplish his will, in, and through his people. Another exemplary instruction. Thank you Pastor Mike. Andy began his false teaching trek a few years ago when he made the statement (paraphrasing): He wouldn't want to debate with today's atheists. Implying he, Stanley, wouldn't be able to refute the supposed brilliance of these worldly people. Hence, Stanley's fear of adhering to Scripture. He's since tried to "unhitch" from the bible entirely.

Thanks Pas Mike! As a 40+ year believer, I am finding that now more than ever I am fighting doubts about Old/New testament passages, the so called "difficult" passages. I have watched and read a lot of good stuff that attempts to answer those difficult passages (Frank Turek and yourself have some really great stuff on that topic), but I find that it is not 100% satisfying, i.e., I have not had that "aha! there you go, case closed" moment. I end up coming back to "God can and will do whatever He wants, and it is not capricious, but will always be wise and the best to accomplish His plans/purposes". Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord. What it seems like Mr Stanley is trying to do is a slight of hand to point people away from the "difficult" things, but in the end it will only make it seem like he is trying to just say "hey, look over there...".
Its too bad folks look to their pastors/teachers for teaching truth, we need to study the scriptures ourselves and check out everything being taught. Stanley is just one of many teachers/pastors who have strayed from the truth.
Well they should be looked at for truth, otherwise they shouldn't be looked at, at all. They are definitely not authoritative, but they should be oozing with truth, and we should be able to glean from them.
What is so sad, is how many people are going to & listening to Andy Stanley. So many will not be ready for Jesus's return. Pray for revival and repentance and morning...
I can understand where he is coming from. Trying to help someone who is struggling with reconciling stories with old testament with new testament. There are stories in the old trstament that can cause division nowadays. For example, God created male and female. Nowadays, people are wanting to add more sexes (and genders). But as you say, Mike. If you can't reconcile both testaments, then you have no foundations and will read scripture according to their own knowledge and not as it was intended. Hopefully, Andy can rephrase this approach. It is ok to still doubt and question things in the Bible. Since we will not be able to understand the Bible to its 100% accuracy. The idea is to keep studying the Bible and try to search for such answers while being ok with not knowing everything. Thanks Mike! Love your videos!!
@@yblackie Apologies if you misunderstood what I said! Regarding your question: No, I did not say that. I will try to explain it again, hopefully it makes sense! The world view of today says there are more than 2 genders. The Bible views it as only male and female. (More can be added to the argument of debate between gender and sex, but lets stick to simplicity). Someone with the world view who says there are more genders will see the New Testament as Christ died for our sins and we are to Love one another (Some ignore or never read the rest of Christ teachings). Which those are true, but those teachings come from the foundation set in the Old Testament (which is what Mike Winger was saying in the video). The person will take their world view and see it consistent to New Testament, but when they read the Old Testament it will be inconsistent with their world view and their view of Christ (Specially when they read the laws and stories that go against their world view.) Granted, gender and sex are not the only topics that could cause someone to leave faith due to unable to reconcile between, both, Old and New Testaments. I believe that Pastor Stanley is trying to prevent someone to become discourage when reading the Old Testament and leave the faith, because it does not align with their world view. It is an action that may come from a good heart, but without wisdom, which can lead to worst outcomes (e.g. a poor foundation in their Christian Faith, etc.) Hope I explained it well!

As soon as l was born again l was GRIEVED at my sin ...still am ....but l know now l must turn away from the slavery of sin. l may stumble, bt now ....l FIGHT! l believe that Andy is responding to the lgbtqia, woke agenda, telling people that they dont have to REPENT. l am dismayed that people are absorbing this teaching. :(
I visited one of Andy Stanley's satellite churches years ago. All I remember about the experience is they played a Michael Jackson song during worship, and I do not recall them tying it into the sermon in any way. I found that to be a little strange. It was only one visit, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. But still, my husband and I did not go back again.

If we don't have the Old Testament, we don't need the new because there is no sin, 1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness. Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. We need the law to grasp the gospel.
@@hazelnewlen4435 The "law" Paul mentions in Gal. 3:24 is the instructions concerning animal sacrifice, NOT the 10 Commandments. Paul elaborates on this in Hebrews where he talks about how the animal sacrifices were to remind the ppl that they needed a Savior that could provide atonement for sins. Paul mentioning a "law" in his epistles doesn't automatically mean he's referring to the Decalogue or even the Torah as a whole.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
Beginning or ending? Consider a man who the scriptures say was an insane false prophet. He loved the wage$ of unrighteousness, and departed from the truth going astray into error. God has made an example for those doing the same thing by rebuking him by a talking donkey! God has the last laugh.
What is GOOD about Andy Stanley's "Unhitching" is that it is a platform in which we can delve deeper into the Old Testament truths and help people understand the very basics of Christianity and why Christ dying is relevant. It took me a long time to understand why God required sacrifice and there is much more to the story here. To delete the history, ... the "details" would be even more confusing, in my opinion.
Andy and his following pastors definitely are going toward evolution of Christianity. Evolving to reject OT, evolving to allow women pastors, evolving to the catholic church for a time and then evolving into something more modern, but all phases that had to be gone through. Next phase? One can only imagine.
Actually, this has happened in the past. One Marcion and a gnostic group in the 2nd century AD who rejected Yahweh of the Old Testament as "evil." Nothing is new under the sun, I guess.
The entirety of traditional Christianity has rejected the First Testament. It's not a new thing, and it didn't start with Andy Stanley. The Catholicism and Protestantism were both built on a rejection of the First Testament. That's why those religions faithfully cling to their trinity beliefs, Easter, Christmas, and Sunday services as Christian while simultaneously rejecting the Torah's instructions on how God is supposed to be worshiped.

The Gospel according to Matthew was the reason for me losing faith in the N.T., canon but I didn't lose faith in Christianity. I simply divorced belief in the Bible (or the whole Bible) from being a Christian, and the way I did that was to recognise that Jesus never read the writings of the N.T. or taught people which writings he endorsed that were composed after His ascension.
Great topic... I think that most "Christians" don't read the Bible and pray for understanding of the Scriptures. They rely on their Pasters, Sunday School class, Young Converts classes, and guest Preachers to explain the Bible Scriptures to them. They leave the most important person out of their studies. The Holy Ghost/Spirit. Without Him you will NOT be able to understand or believe what you read. The Holy Ghost/Spirit calls you, convicts you, fills you with a measure of faith then instructs you (if you honestly take the time to read the Scriptures) on the Word of God. If this is the case. Andy Stanely just threw out all the prophecies yet to be fulfilled that are mentioned in the old testament. He is giving his congregation a pass from studying, believing and using the old testament. In prayer for Andy that God of the Old and New will speak to him
I just have to say I personally respect Andy’s Dad, Dr. Charles Stanley, I have learnt a lot watching and listening to him. 😔 I did a study into Andy and his teachings only when I saw you were about to do a video talking about him, all I knew of him before that was from years ago watching clips with him and his Dad together, Andy leaves me feeling confused on exactly just what he believes, I do understand that his whole mission has always been to go after the big audience of people turned off to the faith he has no problem making that point clear, but his acceptance of a gay couple that he calls friends and how he seemed to be only bothered with them working in one of his churches was hard for me because it came across like his only issue was… not that the guy left his Christian wife and family to divorce her to be in a relationship with another man BUT the fact that this guy’s new love-man was not himself divorced, so his concern was….adultery Not… that the relationship was a abomination to God? He literally teaches that sin “ wheather listed in the Bible or not” is being harmful to yourself or harmful to others” like if your actions hurts anyone, I’m sorry if my actions of backing God’s Holy word hurts you but I’m sticking with it. I think MANY worldly people in the flesh will love what he’s selling. James 3:1 warns about a harsher judgement for teachers, but only God knows and judges the heart. 😔The Christian walk is serious business we all have to be so careful, I feel sad for anyone who is deceived, he had such potential.

But clicked on this because I thought it was a snippet & curious as to what you'd say. Now the opening has me hooked & I'm interested to see what all you have to say on the book. It is deep and powerful. But there are some things that I think many get wrong and make it conform to their theology rather than the other way around. Interested to see what you say about those. Pausing at the 19min mark just to add one quick comment. I appreciate the grace you extend Andy but give all that he's said and done in the last 10yrs I think it's misplaced. Your wincing and your "sort of true" SPEAKS! There comes a time when the benefit of the doubt must be discarded and a spade called a spade for what it is. Andy's constant and consistent "sort of true" is fruit from the one who is the author of "sort of true". A half truth is a whole lie. Mike does well at fleshing out what's going on but I do wish he would just be more clear is stating the DANGER that Andy Stanley's teaching presents. In short, Andy Stanley is undermining God's Word. THAT is the MOST DANGEROUS thing ANYONE can do and ANY Teacher sending that message should be marked and avoided. The church didn’t have the New Testament they studied Old Testament scripture and it was sufficient to be saved and live for Jesus back then. If it was sufficient for the early church it is certainly relevant and needed today!
Even Jesus himself used the old testament to rebuke the devil. Its pretty obvious that we shouldn't unhitch from it. Thank you for the indepth study on Hebrews and what andy is trying to push onto people.
Jesus Christ referred to & quoted the OT oft during his ministry, IT IS WRITTEN. He stated, to God the Father in prayer on at least one occasion; "THY WORD IS TRUTH." [=John 17:17.] ★What heresy to suggest we ditch it ! SEE John 8:44. The devil abides NOT IN THE TRUTH FOR THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM !
Never heard of this Andy character. I'm not a pastor, but as I listen to this guy, scriptures are popping into my mind all over the place that contradict everything he says. Mike mentioned a few, but there are many more. How is it that some hillbilly out in the sticks like me knows the scriptures better than some dude apparently pastoring a huge church? And how are so many people fooled by this? They never read the Bible either? Weird times we live in these days.

These 3 all graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. I am new to Mike's teaching; he seems to be a godly teacher, from what i have heard so far. meticulous to put the scripts on screen for our viewing while he teaches them : that is inviting scrutiny.

I was invited to an Andy Stanley church in 2016. At the time, I was probably in the agnostic group. I liked what I heard and kept going. Eventually, I softened up and came back to Christ. I think Andy serves the milk to get folks in the door. It tickles the ears and brings in the $$.
But I stopped going a little over a year ago, when the Sunday after Oct 7th there was absolutely no mention of the events in Israel. Our campus pastor was a native Isreali and I imagine it killed him inside. Maybe they didn't get it approved in time.... If the red tape keeps you from preaching and praying about current, Biblical events, then there's an issue. No spine. The organization is too big for its own good.
I have since found a Bible teaching church and read my Bible daily with prayers to not be lead astray.

I kept waiting for him to mention the Holy Spirit, expecting that he was building up to that, but he never did. Not even once. I was so sad. Humans have good intentions sometimes for the things that they try to change. Keep in mind that it says in the Bible, somewhere near the end that you are not to change or delete anything from the Bible. (Which is also confusing considering that the Catholic Church did that.) That would be my argument if they would come against you

Charles Stanley was the BEST. He faithfully honored the Scriptures and taught the Truth. He is dearly missed. I am saddened that his son is misleading people and not faithful to the Word not only on this topic but in other topics too. Thousands of sheep naively follow him. Pray for him to repent!

Too bad. I agree but what a shame. I think I may have just realized that I idolized Dr. Charles Stanley which is a grave sin. So, seeing that the son is not someone to follow saddens me. That is confusing too. Should I beat myself up because I loved one teacher that told the truth, like Mike? There are many reasons why people leave their faith. I tend to have low self-confidence because I am so guilty of sins that I am not even aware of. I think Christians forget about grace. We're all on the same team, right? I feel like I can't breathe sometimes.

I thought I had taught them to be more discerning but to my horror they believe every word he says. Andy is a really good teacher and knows how to make something practical and easy to understand. We've been watching some of his sermons in our small group for quite some time and in the beginning I loved it. But as I started reading deeper into scripture I got a little uncomfortable with his teachings but could not really pin point what it was. It was always small little comments I did not agree with. Thank you for this.

Hello Mike. I view the letter to the Hebrews as a summary of the whole Bible. It quotes the OT extensively. It does not supersede it. It ties the NT and OT together ... as one.
Thanks for the video, Mike. Throwing away the Old Testament means throwing away the Old Testament prophecies that Jesus clearly fulfilled. The Old Testament has reinforced my faith that Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah. I definitely don’t understand everything in the Old Testament, but I have enough evidence to convince me that Jesus fulfills the promises contained within and that encourages me to submit to His yoke and trust Him for the rest.

Thanks Pas Mike! As a 40+ year believer, I am finding that now more than ever I am fighting doubts about Old/New testament passages, the so called "difficult" passages. I have watched and read a lot of good stuff that attempts to answer those difficult passages (Frank Turek and yourself have some really great stuff on that topic), but I find that it is not 100% satisfying, i.e., I have not had that "aha! there you go, case closed" moment. I end up coming back to "God can and will do whatever He wants, and it is not capricious, but will always be wise and the best to accomplish His plans/purposes". Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that He is Lord. What it seems like Mr Stanley is trying to do is a slight of hand to point people away from the "difficult" things, but in the end it will only make it seem like he is trying to just say "hey, look over there...".
Its too bad folks look to their pastors/teachers for teaching truth, we need to study the scriptures ourselves and check out everything being taught. Stanley is just one of many teachers/pastors who have strayed from the truth.
Well they should be looked at for truth, otherwise they shouldn't be looked at, at all.
They are definitely not authoritative, but they should be oozing with truth, and we should be able to glean from them.
What is so sad, is how many people are going to & listening to Andy Stanley. So many will not be ready for Jesus's return. Pray for revival and repentance and morning...

I can understand where he is coming from. Trying to help someone who is struggling with reconciling stories with old testament with new testament. There are stories in the old trstament that can cause division nowadays. For example, God created male and female. Nowadays, people are wanting to add more sexes (and genders).
But as you say, Mike. If you can't reconcile both testaments, then you have no foundations and will read scripture according to their own knowledge and not as it was intended.
Hopefully, Andy can rephrase this approach. It is ok to still doubt and question things in the Bible. Since we will not be able to understand the Bible to its 100% accuracy. The idea is to keep studying the Bible and try to search for such answers while being ok with not knowing everything.

@@yblackie Apologies if you misunderstood what I said! Regarding your question: No, I did not say that. I will try to explain it again, hopefully it makes sense! The world view of today says there are more than 2 genders. The Bible views it as only male and female. (More can be added to the argument of debate between gender and sex, but lets stick to simplicity). Someone with the world view who says there are more genders will see the New Testament as Christ died for our sins and we are to Love one another (Some ignore or never read the rest of Christ teachings). Which those are true, but those teachings come from the foundation set in the Old Testament (which is what Mike Winger was saying in the video). The person will take their world view and see it consistent to New Testament, but when they read the Old Testament it will be inconsistent with their world view and their view of Christ (Specially when they read the laws and stories that go against their world view.)
Granted, gender and sex are not the only topics that could cause someone to leave faith due to unable to reconcile between, both, Old and New Testaments.
I believe that Pastor Stanley is trying to prevent someone to become discourage when reading the Old Testament and leave the faith, because it does not align with their world view. It is an action that may come from a good heart, but without wisdom, which can lead to worst outcomes (e.g. a poor foundation in their Christian Faith, etc.)

Andy Stanley is a good example of present western thought “take the win” and retreat.
I visited one of Andy Stanley's satellite churches years ago. All I remember about the experience is they played a Michael Jackson song during worship, and I do not recall them tying it into the sermon in any way. I found that to be a little strange. It was only one visit, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. But still, my husband and I did not go back again.

If we don't have the Old Testament, we don't need the new because there is no sin, 1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness. Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. We need the law to grasp the gospel.
And the law is the schoolmates who brings us to Christ. Galatians 3:24

@@hazelnewlen4435 The "law" Paul mentions in Gal. 3:24 is the instructions concerning animal sacrifice, NOT the 10 Commandments. Paul elaborates on this in Hebrews where he talks about how the animal sacrifices were to remind the ppl that they needed a Savior that could provide atonement for sins. Paul mentioning a "law" in his epistles doesn't automatically mean he's referring to the Decalogue or even the Torah as a whole.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

I haven’t watched the entire video but I MUST say this: that sweater/jacket is fire, and quite professorial, which matches Mike’s content.

What is GOOD about Andy Stanley's "Unhitching" is that it is a platform in which we can delve deeper into the Old Testament truths and help people understand the very basics of Christianity and why Christ dying is relevant. It took me a long time to understand why God required sacrifice and there is much more to the story here. To delete the history, ... the "details" would be even more confusing, in my opinion.
Amazing difference between father and son: Charles and Andy.
Andy and his following pastors definitely are going toward evolution of Christianity. Evolving to reject OT, evolving to allow women pastors, evolving to the catholic church for a time and then evolving into something more modern, but all phases that had to be gone through. Next phase? One can only imagine.

One Marcion and a gnostic group in the 2nd century AD who rejected Yahweh of the Old Testament as "evil."

The entirety of traditional Christianity has rejected the First Testament. It's not a new thing, and it didn't start with Andy Stanley. The Catholicism and Protestantism were both built on a rejection of the First Testament. That's why those religions faithfully cling to their trinity beliefs, Easter, Christmas, and Sunday services as Christian while simultaneously rejecting the Torah's instructions on how God is supposed to be worshiped.

The Gospel according to Matthew was the reason for me losing faith in the N.T., canon but I didn't lose faith in Christianity. I simply divorced belief in the Bible (or the whole Bible) from being a Christian, and the way I did that was to recognise that Jesus never read the writings of the N.T. or taught people which writings he endorsed that were composed after His ascension.

Great topic... I think that most "Christians" don't read the Bible and pray for understanding of the Scriptures. They rely on their Pasters, Sunday School class, Young Converts classes, and guest Preachers to explain the Bible Scriptures to them. They leave the most important person out of their studies. The Holy Ghost/Spirit. Without Him you will NOT be able to understand or believe what you read. The Holy Ghost/Spirit calls you, convicts you, fills you with a measure of faith then instructs you (if you honestly take the time to read the Scriptures) on the Word of God. I just have to say I personally respect Andy’s Dad, Dr. Charles Stanley, I have learnt a lot watching and listening to him. 😔 I did a study into Andy and his teachings only when I saw you were about to do a video talking about him, all I knew of him before that was from years ago watching clips with him and his Dad together, Andy leaves me feeling confused on exactly just what he believes, I do understand that his whole mission has always been to go after the big audience of people turned off to the faith he has no problem making that point clear, but his acceptance of a gay couple that he calls friends and how he seemed to be only bothered with them working in one of his churches was hard for me because it came across like his only issue was… not that the guy left his Christian wife and family to divorce her to be in a relationship with another man BUT the fact that this guy’s new love-man was not himself divorced, so his concern was….adultery Not… that the relationship was a abomination to God? He literally teaches that sin “ wheather listed in the Bible or not” is being harmful to yourself or harmful to others” like if your actions hurts anyone, I’m sorry if my actions of backing God’s Holy word hurts you but I’m sticking with it. I think MANY worldly people in the flesh will love what he’s selling. James 3:1 warns about a harsher judgement for teachers, but only God knows and judges the heart. 😔The Christian walk is serious business we all have to be so careful, I feel sad for anyone who is deceived, he had such potential.

It is deep and powerful. But there are some things that I think many get wrong and make it conform to their theology rather than the other way around. Interested to see what you say about those.
Pausing at the 19min mark just to add one quick comment. I appreciate the grace you extend Andy but give all that he's said and done in the last 10yrs I think it's misplaced. Your wincing and your "sort of true" SPEAKS! There comes a time when the benefit of the doubt must be discarded and a spade called a spade for what it is. Andy's constant and consistent "sort of true" is fruit from the one who is the author of "sort of true". A half truth is a whole lie. Mike does well at fleshing out what's going on but I do wish he would just be more clear is stating the DANGER that Andy Stanley's teaching presents. In short, Andy Stanley is undermining God's Word. THAT is the MOST DANGEROUS thing ANYONE can do and ANY Teacher sending that message should be marked and avoided.
Is Stanley trying to build-up, strengthen, and edify one's faith or is he trying to steal, kill, and destroy what Scripture teaches?

The church didn’t have the New Testament they studied Old Testament scripture and it was sufficient to be saved and live for Jesus back then. If it was sufficient for the early church it is certainly relevant and needed today!
Even Jesus himself used the old testament to rebuke the devil. Its pretty obvious that we shouldn't unhitch from it. Thank you for the indepth study on Hebrews and what andy is trying to push onto people.
Jesus Christ referred to & quoted the OT oft during his ministry, IT IS WRITTEN. He stated, to God the Father in prayer on at least one occasion; "THY WORD IS TRUTH." [=John 17:17.] ★What heresy to suggest we ditch it !
SEE John 8:44. The devil abides NOT IN THE TRUTH FOR THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM !

Never heard of this Andy character. I'm not a pastor, but as I listen to this guy, scriptures are popping into my mind all over the place that contradict everything he says. Mike mentioned a few, but there are many more. How is it that some hillbilly out in the sticks like me knows the scriptures better than some dude apparently pastoring a huge church? And how are so many people fooled by this? They never read the Bible either? Weird times we live in these days.
Andy is unhitched from many time honored Christian doctrines.
