I am aware that I've already made a comment on this, but this story needs telling. Back in April of this year (2024 for future reference), I converted back to Christianity after several years of private, secretive practice of Nordic Neopaganism. Before _that_ I was atheist, and before even that, I was somewhat Christian. The thing is, my family never taught me anything about Christianity, we never even went to church, and eventually I lapsed. Here's the thing, back in my pagan days, around the Christmas season, I'd pull up and listen to this exact song. Reawaken Hymns. I never paid any attention to the channel name, not even after I came back into the faith, until now. _Reawaken_ Hymns. It can't be a coincidence that RUclips recommended a video by a channel called *_Reawaken_* Hymns to a lapse Christian. God is good. This is still my favorite hymn/carol of all time, and I'm glad I discovered it so long ago. God bless you sir, I hope you have a fantastic day. Edit since I missed some details: I attribute three things to my conversion: M meeting one of my "gods" I used to worship who ended up being a literal demon (If anyone is curious, it was Loki), a friend of mine, who is a son of missionaries no less, speaking to me about Christ when I came to a faith crisis in the wake of the demon visit, and finally, this song. The lyrics have stuck with me for so long and through so many seasons and ages of my life that the beginning two lines of the third stanza, which I have geeked out about in my other comment on this video, have essentially burned themselves into my head. The day I found this song was the day pagan me stopped hating Christianity for literally no reason. The day I understood it was the day I found God. Hallelujah.
Thank you for willingness to protect and defend our beloved country and home. May we never forget your service and sacrifice. God Bless our first responders, servicemen and women, nurses and doctors and hospital staff for what they do across America.
The lyrics in this version are from the 1758 adaptation by George Whitefield. They are fairly close to Wesley's original lyrics from 1739, though Wesleys original first line is "Hark how all the Welkin rings" (glad Whitefield changed that!). I believe the most common adaptation in use today is from the 1961 "Carols for Choirs". This is the adaptation which contains the lines "With the angelic host proclaim" and "Pleased as man with man to dwell". Is that the one you are referring too?
@@ReawakenHymns "Welkin"? Nice. Learn something new every day. As an 80s kid, it figures I would think something from the 60s is "traditional." lol. But I do think that version is older than the 1961. For instance, hymnary.org has scans of older hymnal pages including what I considered the now-common version. This page from a Moravian hymnal from 1920 includes the familiar four-line stanzas (but they're "upside-down") and some even more unfamiliar words in verse 3: hymnary.org/hymn/HLMC1920/page/286
Is there another version prior to 1961 because “with angelic host” line is featured in this movie from the 1940s ruclips.net/video/0k_Vsmqf6X8/видео.html

Wow this sounds amazing loved hearing this song in church and this is your version sound good actually. :) Now time to learn this hymns lyrics i've heard it before but yeah.
Are these lyrics in verse 1 original? "Nature rise and worship him, Who is born at Bethlehem" because I've always heard "with angelic hosts proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem."
The original Charles Wesley lyrics from 1739 is "Universal Nature say, CHRIST the LORD is born to Day!", the ones in this video are from George Whitefield's adaptation in 1758. The lyrics you mentioned are the most common and were changed later, possibly in "Carols for Choir" in 1961

Love your project. Not a fan of the changes to the song. It gets in the way of a congregation trying to worship, when it's already familiar with the traditional version. That would be fine if there was a theological or aesthetic payoff--but there isn't. Just my thoughts.

"Christ by highest heaven adored; Christ the everlasting Lord!"
I swear I could cry to these lines, so powerful!
THERE IS NO ONE LIKE JESUS CHRIST ❤
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumphs of the skies
Nature rise and worship him
Who is born at Bethlehem
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king
Christ by highest heaven adored
Christ the everlasting lord
Late in time behold him come
Offspring of a virgins womb
Veiled In flesh the godhead see
Hail the incarnate deity
Pleased and man with men to appear
Jesus our Emanuel here
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king
Hail the heav’n born prince of peace
Hail the son of righteousness
Light and life around he brings
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by
Born that men no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king

Loki is literally the ruler of Helheim what were you expecting...?
@@johnm6295 Incorrect, his daughter Hel is. Loki is her father, but he has nothing to do with Helheim, not in any traditional concensus at least.

How are your
Music is great but why are the lyrics changed ?
They aren't, you may be used to a different version
@@ReawakenHymns i guess so!
It's Sun of Righteousness, not Son.
Yes, it is from Malachi 4:2, and is a reference to Jesus. I wanted that reference to be clear in the song so I choose to use Son instead of Sun
But...why change the lyrics? And to something that doesn't even fit the meter?
