Sean - I love this desk so much, I shared your video with my Dad who is 81 and a professional furniture restorer and master carpenter. He wants to do a project together in his amazing shop and I want to build this desk with him. If you have plans, I will pay you whatever you want for them. If not, we are both pretty good drafters so we will give it go. I'll make sure and send you our progress and a final picture. Love your work, you are a true artist. All the best, Jill
Hi Jill, Thank you so much I really appreciate that. Sadly I don't have any plans, I basically made it from scratch copying a picture. I hope your build goes well! feel free to send me pictures on instagram!
Hi Sean. Really enjoyed watching your skills in the hand cabinet work and in the machining operations. The finished table has turned out very nice. Your client will be over the moon with their new showpiece. I am also impressed to see that you are using your crown guard and riving knife while operating your table saw. Nice one Sean. Tony
Hi Tony! Thanks a lot, Yes the client really like it! Yeah It's always good to use the crown guard, I would never use the table saw without a riving knife! Thanks for watching again mate!
absolute genius work as always :). Love the style of the top and the shape curve of the legs. The whole thing together looks amazing, you did an awesome job.
You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Jaime Imran thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi, very nice video and a very nicely made piece of furniture. Just a couple of observations regarding your stops on your drawers, while I have seen several drawers stopped like this I have also seen lots of them with cracked fronts as the drawer has been slammed in to hard and as it hits the weak part where the groove is. I am not knocking you for doing it that way just explaining what I have seen, and I know lots of antique drawers were stopped like that. I also have found when using a bag press that if you put some grooves in your base board it helps to express the air more evenly. Very nice neat work and hope your client enjoyed the finished piece. I would also have veneered the top as well, a lot more stable, and thick veneer is a lot easier to press in the bag.
Hi Gary, thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked it! That's interesting to hear, I used quite big stops (glued down well) and big dovetails so I don't think it will crack. Luckily I know the client won't be slamming the drawers as well ahah. Yes I'm very familiar with a grooved base board when vacuum pressing (which is very helpful) It's just finding the place to store the board. Constructional veneer is so much better isn't it! And you don't need to worry about sanding through it. See you in the next video!
@@SeanEvelegh Hi Sean. I don't think these are the type of drawers that will be slammed shut full of heavy articles. I'd wouldn't be surprised if they barley get used at all. Tony
You are insanely brilliant, clever and talented! Thanks again for the amazing video (that makes me think I’m capable when I clearly need more practice and patience’s 😝)
Hi Sean, Amazing work. If you didn't have a domino jointer would you use mortise and tenons at the top of the legs where they join the cross struts? Would it work to cut the right angle as part of the leg and move the joint to the horizontal section of the strut?
Sean the commission turned out really great! How happy is the new owner? Also I wanted to ask you about "The Chop" Knowing that it was cancelled unfortunately as I had been waiting since seeing an advertisement back in December 2020 for it...have you had any contact from the producers saying whether or not if it willbe coming back or being remade? I was really looking forward to seeing it and everything that was going to be made etc!.
@@SeanEvelegh Ok.. you are already one of the coolest things Ive ever discovered.. but if you do ever try you will have reached magnanimous level with me. I want to say "Thank you". you inspire me to build again. Sorry for being mushy..lol
Hey mate, well I don't mind showing the dowels (I think they look good) but the screws helped pull the rail together. Doing dominos also would be hard to route at the right angle.
ahaha your right John! I was just replicating the look of the piece, not how it was made. If I made it traditionally, I would have double to price of the piece.
I do not know exactly what noise your saw puts out but every time you use it, my cat is over like a shot and has all her hackles up ready to fight. I had to play this video three times to figure it out but it is definitely your saw that makes the noise, it is so funny to see my cat, but to stop my speakers from actual damage I have had to mute the video very time you saw anything.
My only issue with the veneering is the substrate - I abhor Mdf. Other than that - Beautiful piece Btw, please lose the "special effects" - they are confusing in a "how too " video.
Hi Glenn, Glad you like the piece. Sorry to hearing that you didn't like the substrate, I have nothing against MDF as it flat, stable and solid. For me, If you have good dust collection there isn't an issue.
@@SeanEvelegh My problem with it, exactly. Some of the dust always seems to escape - I use best quality Baltic birch ply, and absorb the cost difference.
A beautiful piece of furniture, beautifully made.
Great tunes! Also couldn't agree more about venner as a really high quality product, people can be over obsessed with completely solid everything
La verdadera carpinteria, buen gusto para los muebles , i love it you quality for wood working in fornitures.
¡Muchas gracias, se lo agradezco mucho!
My favourite piece of yours yet.
Thank you Jonathan!
I don’t have words for how beautiful this is.
Wow thank you so much!
Letting the veneer on the top continue on the drawer fronts i next level!🤘
Thanks mate!
Yes, yes, yes. Great workmanship, great editing, great music. Loved it all. Smashing 👍👍
Thanks Russell, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it!
I see you are acquiring some very nice tools. You deserve the best.
Thank you John! I appreciate that, I saved up a long time for the domino and sander. They are great bits of kit!
Beautiful work👍

Good thought for veneered draw fronts! (I) enjoyed the vid. Thanks.

Great job on the desk. Curious as to why you don't wear eye protection when using power tools.
In most cases he did wear eye protection. Sometimes you forget, it happens.
@@jac_builtWoodworks It's the one time you don't that will get you hurt.
Can’t have too many clamps!
Totally agree, is there any woodworker with the right amount? I don't think so! ahah

Amazing build!
What stones do you use for sharpening?
Thanks Ollie, The one of the left is a trend 300 and 1000 grit diamond stone and the right one is shapton 16000 grit ceramic/glass stone
Cheers!
Do you have to have $10,000.00 dollars in tools to be able to accomplish this beautiful job ??
Excellent Job..
hi there Will I able to get the measurements of these parts in mm. pls
Why did you choose screws and dowels when attaching the legs to the side skirt boards? Why not dominoes there to avoid seeing the dowels?
Hey mate, well I don't mind showing the dowels (I think they look good) but the screws helped pull the rail together. Doing dominos also would be hard to route at the right angle.

I may be wrong but I am sure they did not have domino cutters then
