I was just thinking about this yesterday. I have NEVER bought anything tlaw and I thought to myself his market is dropping might be time to buy 😅. Guess it was good to hear the truth.
I don’t love Trevor I’m a Bills/Josh Allen guy but the comparison to Minshew is dumb. GM is 28 and TL is 24. GM played way more football coming in to the league and is extremely underrated for how well he’s produced. You could prly put his numbers next to a lot of upper tiered qbs and be surprised to the similarities. Here’s the thing it is way more likely that GM is very close to his ceiling which is pretty decent because he is smart and talented to a point but being 28 and undersized does not help. TL is 24 only okay I mean cmon he’s got way more athletic ability size and way more arm talent. I think honestly GM processes the game extremely well and TL is about to be there and you will likely see big progression. Who knows maybe not but there is potential that is on a way different level than GM who honestly is underrated. It’s a bad argument.
I will keep buying all his cards and i guarantee you will change your mind this season. Tag it

Some people want a 6'-6" prototype quarterback, but I think there have been many great quarterbacks that tall. I don't think the prototype pitcher in baseball is 6-6" either

I love the novice spec buyers who proclaim "...but this time, it's different" for every rookie prospect in every sport. We've seen may too many busts than boons. Smart spec has buyers come in after the "IPO" of a card's debut. If you want to get at the perceived "ground floor" of a player's 1st licensed card released the odds are you're going to fail, especially if you spread your bets across multiple players in every sport, you'll most likely lose more than win.
I'd say, Id rather pay a higher premium for a player's card after they've had 2 great seasons or 3+ good seasons increasingly improving.. The transition for amateurs to become professional is especially difficult in the NFL and Quarrterback position. If you listed every 1st Round Draft Pick who was a QB in the past 20 years, you'll see so many names (not just Jamarcus Russell either) who not only failed to live up to their advanced billing hype, but many couldn't even earn a back-up role, let alone a starting job.
Do you wager on Julian "Juju" Lewis, the high school QB and his Leaf cards now? I made the mistake of wagering on former five star prospect, Max Browne (his 2012 Leaf) who was dealt a series of unfortunate scenarios at USC and Pittsburgh (2013-2017) and went undrafted. Sometimes, you just need patience to wait if you're not a gambler.
Wait it's worth paying more later when a player earns their card values through actualized performance not projected potential.. The player I'd probably buy into is Zion Williamson because, out of the gate, he was overpriced, then his injuries cause a downward slide and this past year, I feel he's shown improvement.
Look at most hall of fame qbs.... First 3 seasons are usually very lackluster. Carson Palmer was a stat monster and many don't even know who he is. Its all about SBs and records. All these guys are going to lose value except Mahomes and Rodgers becuse they already cemented their way to legendary status.
Too bad you can’t short cards
Numbers leave out context. He had a terrible rookie season under a head coach who did not care about the team, which is detrimental to development of a rookie QB.
Enter Doug Pederson, and Trevor Lawrence does a 180 and starts to head in a positive direction under a much better head coach.
I expect Trevor Lawrence to continue to improve under Pederson. MVP? Probably not. But a top 5 QB? Definitely possible.

TLaw is the guy. He plays for the Jaguars, which has a GM that cannot draft in rounds 2-5. What stats you are seeing is a QB without a solid OL and top WR.
We’ll compare him to Baker Mayfield then. Baker had the 21st ranked oline with the worst running attack in the league. Yet he threw for 4k yards with a career high 28 td’s and only 10ints. Lawrence is turning the ball over at an incredible rate and if you’re supposedly generational, you can make up for lack of talent. He hasn’t done that at all. Not saying it can’t change for t-law, but I don’t see the next elite QB that some do

And who says he hasnt made up for lack of talent? TLaw has led a lackluster franchise to back to back winning seasons. You have to go back 20 years to find back to back winning seasons for the Jags. The Jags have had like 2 winning seasons in the last 20 years.

Thats because he was only 1 of 3 qbs to start 50 games. His actual yards per game (6.7) is worse than his backup Mac Jones. (6.8) Even Justin Fields avg 7.0.Heres the mic 🎤 back. Try again.

He inherited a terrible team when drafted in 2021 with an even worse coach. In his 2nd year, he has a much better coach, better weapons and more experience. Your take that his playoff run in 2022 was "okay" is a little funny. He had one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history against the chargers. Got out of his head, showed poise, and got it done. Then they go to Arrowhead and put up a very good fight against the Chiefs. Let's not forget that at 8-3 last year, the Jags were the favorites of being AFC's #1 seed. Then he got injured. He fought through that injury because he doesn't quit. He continued to sustain multiple injuries coasting into the end of the season. Jax has made giant moves this offseason to provide him protection going into next year. His new contract wasn't done in panic. It was done because his team sees what he's capable of and his continual growth. But yeah man, he's the Next Mac Jones.

Trevor has Mac Jones competing for the job. Say what you will but this pressure will reveal what type of QB Jacksonville has and perhaps who they will go with mid-season.
I don't think he's it... good QB, but only greatness or hype/potential drives the sports card market. We've seen what he is... he'll drift in and out of the playoffs for the next 6 or 7 years then fade into obscurity as other QBs start to drive the market.
Lawrence picked the wrong profession in my opinion being model for Mike Amirir would have landed him a huge 💰 & some longevity in that field 😂😂😂😂😂
