Wow amazing performance by whole New York Liberty tonight tonight was a physical and mental tough game tonight by the end of the night the New York Liberty won the game. Great contributions and great and excelent job by Brenna Stewart for leading the New York Liberty with 31 points 4 assist and 10 rebounds and clearly was the MVP of this game. They totally deserved the win tonight.
Welcome to the game Caitlin Clark. Great game. So glad to see you driving into the centre of the key and shooting a floater. The fact that you are being double teamed all game and still hit 22 points and so many assists is fantastic. It is not really about you fitting into your teams game or coaches game, it is about letting you play your game. That is why you were the number 1 pick. This is the first time I saw you play your game and the whole team played better as well. Your team mates were actually looking for you this game and you made so many great assists and passes. Hope to see your confidence grow even more.

@@jameswilliams-zr8co Boston needs to be put on the high post at the top and given handoff and screening on-ball to CC. That should be the two-person option right now. CC at 1 and AB at the 4. She's a bit too small right now to be at starting 5 and should only be there when the other team sub out the tall 5s.
This will be a learning season for Clark especially.
CC has too much talent for the fever team. She has to do it all.

A great point. If you are being double teamed then it is 4 against 3 to your favour which leads to all kinds of openings, cuts and space.

Caitlin was being double teamed many times. Even the commentators mentioned it.
Problem is they’re not ready for her passes and can’t convert.
There’s only so much Clark can do.
Once the Indiana forwards get in running shape they will learn to be ready for the Clark passes. Improvement seen in this game already.
I guess I find it kind of sad when your in a professional league and don't show up in game shape for the preseason. Really bad look for indiana

The Fever are a Circus show! Either Wheeler or Mitchell has to go and another defender in the paint is badly needed. Their defense absolutely sucks and they like to head into the paint where they are 50/50 on easy layups!!!! Clark has turned into a passer rather than a shooter!!!! I say tank the rest of the season and pick up Paige Buecker from UCONN and another paint defender early in the 2025 Draft. Coach needs to realize that Boston is not a Center, but a Power Forward. She rushes shots and is terrible at rebounds.
They will tank the season, that's a given.

I'm a Sabrina fan but I like Clark. I'm glad both were able to make their point. Sabrina showed that Clark isn't the only one that can take long 3s. However Clark showed what a great scorer she is already.
This is the freest I have seen Clark play so far in 3 games. I get the sense she is realizing her best option is to play HER game and let the chips fall where they may. Indiana is going to realize with a quickness they either have to build the team around her and bring in players who compliment her and want to play her style or they'll trade her to a team that wants to. How did this team win 13 games last year because I don't see much talent at all. Wheeler and Mitchell? Nah, sorry. Boston? She looks like she's a 10,000 claimer running against Kentucky Derby horses.
For all those haters out there, those of us that have been watching her for years said, put the ball in her hands and let her ball. See what happens when you do now? (22 pts, 6 R, 8 A) I bet somebody with authority (GM, owners, etc.) got in the coach's face and told her what was up. She is now the fourth player in league history with 50 points and 15 assists in her first three games. And those TO's? Rebecca Lobo said a lot of those should on her teammates for not handling passes, not on CC.
What?!! Stop the bullshit and finger pointing. Clark was drafted #1 with Tons of HYPE! now your blaming everyone else, that's laughable. This is not college, she's not playing against 18 and 19 yr Olds. The problem I see with CC, is that everyone and every team knows that she just wants to take 3's, at this level it's easy to defend. Those turn-overs will continue unless she develops a mid-range game.

Lisa Bluder was at the last game (which was the first home game for the Fever) so it's possible that she had a little chit chat with Coach Sides and gave her some pointers as to what she needs to do in order for Caitlin to have success. It seems they did a lot more screens in this game in order to open up opportunities for Caitlin. By no means, do I know for sure if they had a conversation together but it's a possibility.
And still took the L she’s just a scorer with no defense and will never win a title that hype the media gave her is done stop with the excuses 😂

@RelixYB.........If Clark takes 40 shots per game her team will NOT have a winning season. It will be better if she took about 12 - 15 shots per game and throw about 16 Assist per game and get her team mates more involved in the offense. The Fever need to develop an "inside" game for higher % shot selection and develop 3 or 4 more green light shooters. Clark's offensive skills are not the correct metric to judge this team on..........whats needed is the right "winning combinations" of players who have the CHEMISTRY to win. That will take an entire season to find out who those players are.
One thing for sure.........if U depend on Clark, U will live and die by the Jumper. U need more than that to win.

She was their star player last year. Perhaps she needs to adapt to the new team dynamic. Every player had their fair share of errors. Even Caitlin, as the team shouldn't have to rely on her shooting threes from way out there just to get within striking distance.
As the commentators said, there were some flashes of brilliance in this game. The Fever have talent, they need to work on their fundamentals, team play, and confidence. And who knows... Maybe they will have another terrible season and get another #1 pick next year, until they build a superteam. 😂

As a Sabrina fan it wasn't long ago that Sabrina was dealing with a bad New York team that didn't seem to like her. Then they created a Superteam around her. As a Pacer fan I know Indiana won't just let Caitlin fail they will surround her with talent soon.

@CoogTruckin They need a lot more hustle and discipline instilled on their top players as well. Hell, I don't even know if they have a top vet player right now. CC will have to play hero ball because nobody else will be scoring over 20 pts a game consistently. Even Boston has been disgraceful these first 3 games. Preseason she looked okay, but that's preseason, that's not regular season play. Boston has to be stronger down low but also smarter, she's more of a ball-dominant high-post, look-to-give-handoffs-at-any-opportunity type of big. She's not the one to be sent to the paint and bully-ball. That's not her style. She's quick, and a bit smaller than most bigs, and in college she could get away with that because she was taller and faster than all she went against.
This is different because the bigs in the W are bigger than her and athletic like her. CC at starting Point, AB at the 4 (she should not be at 5 rn), and have them run two-player pick-and-rolls with each other. CC should be ball-dominant until half court and then pass off to Aliyah and Aliyah should get it high-post, with a off-ball screen set by the other big or forward for CC.

They need to learn how to redistribute the ball. If the post play isn't working, reset the offense, get the ball back to the perimeter and run something. Boston will just take whatever bad shot she can. The whole team seems to forget they are a team. Caitlin seems to be facilitating well. The rest of the team just gets the ball and will take the worst shot or drive for a contested layup. It's baffling how bad a professional team is playing. They have a coaching problem. And not just because of the CC drama. She is just a bad coach and it shows. They are playing like a ymca pick up squad. Catching the ball apparently means get to the hoop by any means necessary and throw up a horrible layup.
Totally agree!!! From what I've seen since the season officially started is that if it weren't for Boston and Clark, the final scores would look even worse at the end. You got to admit that Clark has her bad moments but she's putting up the points more than any other SEASONED player on the team. It doesn't look like they're playing as a whole team right now and instead of working with and supporting CC as she transitions to pro ball, there are some that will take a bad shot then to pass the ball to some one else who might have better position to put up some points. There seems to be some resentment from a few team mates in there of all the attention CC gets and it's showing and the fans can see it. You're right about the coach...she doesn't seem to know how to handle transitioning new players and getting everyone working together. She sounds like it's a "my way or the highway" type of coaching. If what you're doing isn't working, try something else.

I know Boston is good inside, but she's way too inefficient against bigger defenders (even in college against bigger defenders she had tougher times), so instead have her do her specialty. Give it to CC going up the court, then have her pass off to Boston at the top of the post, about 15-18 feet out, and have others give off-ball screens to CC, and also have pack-and-roll and handoff situations with plenty of off-ball screens from the others for CC.
Hell, they could just run Floppy for CC with two-way motion screens with two options.

I'm speaking from the perspective that point guards bring the ball up and run the offense in terms of plays and creating that movement that opens up opportunities for the rest. @@theatlantean8008 I think I see what he is saying, you can tell when clark either handles, passes or shoots the ball that It looks really natural as compared to some of the other women playing (Mostly for Indiana) where they it looks like they have to think about for a fraction of a second to think about what to do. This is the first game that Catlin looked kind of like she did in college.

Only reason they letting her come back again as a senior is because she already got hurt twice and missed a full season on a torn ACL. Listen, Paige is a great PG, but she wouldn't be able to help out CC.

I hope you are correct. They could be much better with the talent they have now just with an excellent coach. Make a few adjustments like cutting Wheeler, movie AB to a power forward etc.

Either move AB to 4, and have her be the ball-dominant and have the whole offense tailored to her and CC on picks, screens, and a whole LOT of Handoffs between them, so that CC can get good looks from 3 and so that AB can get the option of a good midrange or closer shot, which is actually her bread-and-butter shot. Not these close hooks we see here, but the 14-16 foot jumper is her good look.

Better game for Clark. When she begins to get 10 assists per game with at least a 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio,, she'll have arrived. Too many turnovers today.
Stewy is my candidate for the best women's player of all-time. I'd put Ann Meyers at a close 2nd. Caitlin will be one of the greats.

@@hansgordy What's even more crazy is that despite being a 4-time NCAA champ and a WNBA champ, she also wasn't very good when she started playing. She was, despite being taller than every other girl, was very uncoordinated and very bad with hand-eye coordination in the first two years. Even thought about quitting. But she got talked out of that by her dad when he saw her development and potential.
She went hard, worked hard on the fundamentals, worked hard on getting her handles right, and then her shooting got better. Then all of a sudden she was being recruited by a hundred schools by her senior year. The rest is history.
I’m from Indiana watching Indiana troubles me they miss a lot terrible on defense & they need more strong 6.6 players too

She played 34 (of the 40) minutes, the most on the team. For one, Clark can't rest on defense like she did in college. She's not the best defender but is playing more D than she did in college so she won't be able to play all of the minutes like she did in college. Every player needs a breather if they're playing hard on both ends. And then there are other times a coach will pull a player depending on play, etc.

WOW, Clark will get better as she progresses through her first system but overall this highlight was filled with poor shooting by some not so skilled individuals. Clark will be an AllStar this season because she is really skilled.
The Fever players look like they are lacking on the fundamentals, but with minor adjustments and hard work they'll be alright!

- It appears that the Fever did zero off-season conditioning. I like Boston (really nice as a commentator for the Big 10) but she should have been working on conditioning, footwork, and her shot. Will Boston improve? I hope so, but Clark needs fast players who can catch and finish.
Mitchell, not sure where her game can go... She doesn't pass, had no court vision, doesn't focus on screens or blocking out. She can't finish well. Maybe she can come off the bench as an energy player. Put in Taylor, improve the D. The Fever need more length and D on the court, Clark will break down other teams if the rest can run screens and catch and finish.
