The show as a whole is incredibly underrated. The most underrated show on tv. But I think the pilot is even more underrated. It's probably one of the best pilot if not the best pilots I've ever seen. It had me hooked from then on!
pathendlem
have you fucking see the Breaking Bad pilot. if you dont invested to watching a show by its pilot more than BB's pilot then dont know what is.
The original pilot episode for Game of Thrones was terrible- now look how massive the show is worldwide.
A golden age in television- a terrible decade for cinema- unless you love comic book rehashes ad nauseam.
same! and I've just got the whole series on DVD!!
The first episode was all it took to get me hooked. Amazing series.
The use of Tusk in that opening scene, heart-pounding, what the hell's going on thrill. Brilliant.
I don’t think this show is underrated at all, it’s consistently ranked as one of the greatest shows in American television.
That what they rank.
Best pilot episode in history of tv series!
Just because its not some vocal competition show or another hack "reality" show doesn't mean its not just another big network junk food tv show with tons of cliche and filler. Better than some, yes ..... but far away from "Best pilot episode in history" !!!
@Lucas .. Solid point.
Respectfully disagree. It’s one of my favorite shows but when recommending it I take care to caution that its appeal is not based on an overly prurient and violent opening
still my all time favorite show, i remember seeing the teaser for the first season and thinking it was a great idea for a show, i was hooked from the start, i think it's the only show i ever watched week to week besides 24. always wanted more people to see it so it wouldn't get cancelled and i'm glad it didnt because it was always great, the end was great, this show is the only one ever made that i would consider perfect.
I wish this show would keep going forever.
Filled as it was with deceit, pain, and violence, this show was a trove of human tenderness as well. For me, the most poignantly clear are the short, sweet scenes of Phillip in his cowboy boots, dancing and clapping to the music of the heartland in a room of innocent folk. He plays no role in these scenes. He simply is, and a light shines through him, like the light Nina and Anton walked towards in her dream.
Five years really is a long time for a show to run. In the pilot the actors seem so young, blurred around the edges, and fuzzy through the haze of time. Yet we discover, as we look back at it, that we were introduced to Phillip's cowboy boots right at the beginning, tapping out a rhythm to the faintly echoing music in the mall. (27:36)
One night watching it, I said aloud (about Philip), ‘He *adores* her.’ Then, about a week later I found out…😳he really *does* adore her! It’s nice that a couple of actors meet and fall in love on set, without either of them leaving their spouse. I loved the show.
I think this show is underrated.
Supremely
黃史提芬 me too
黃史提芬 You don’t now the tru .
Exactly ! Love this show
Actually, highly overrated. Not even remotely realistic. Hint: "deep cove"r operatives don't run around in dime-store level wigs/disguises, bumping off people who have the misfortune of getting in their way, or trade in sensitive information as commonly as most people change their socks, freak out when "a neighbor" is a counter-intel operative etc. Whoever sold this load of rubbish is having a laugh as to how well she/he passed off this stupidity to the American public.
So many incredible moments. I felt like Phillip shopped at Tysons mall Macys. This show is so undeniably nova.
Outstanding series. I love the version of Tusk in the opening chase scene
27:12 to 29:03, then 54:13 to 55:09 nuff said. Greatest show of all time!
thank you for timestamping it, one of my favorite karma scenes ever
Yes 👏👏👏👏 he may be a KGB spy but he's the greatest father ever
Philip doing what all fathers dream of with every bully or pervert that goes near our children.
31:22 seeing Stan and Henry's first interaction, after watching the whole series it is so so poignant.
By far my favorite show✨
Tusk was the perfect choice of song for that scene
This show is way better than homeland
Its not a good show it's disgusting and degrading tow women and your a pig
@unknown user i.call it like i see it
@unknown user good then I guess that makes me rare unique
@@JessicaJohnson-cv3lb degrading how to women? How?
@@MixSonaProductions, it shows women enjoying sex!
Henry Kissinger said, “Power is a Great Aphrodisiac.” (Pity he never met Elizabeth Jennings.) If there ever was a show that deserved a follow up TV movie, or even a limited series, it’s *The Americans* I say that because we all watched it knowing that the dissolution of the USSR was coming. Who *wouldn’t* watch, to see whatever happened to Elizabeth and Philip, and their Page, Henry-everyone? (including Mishka’s Russian son.) If they make it …I’m there. I think everyone would watch…pass the popcorn.🍿 Am I right?
And Martha and her adopted daughter, and Oleg, does Stan ever tell him that it was because of the dead drop that he believed Phil at the end, that Oleg’s sacrifice wasn’t for nothing? There’s a lot that could be covered in a spin-off.
Seriously, this was the first show which made me seek out fanfic after the end, because I had so many questions/thoughts/ideas. What happened to Paige and Henry?
O melhor seriado!!!! A tensão só aumenta!!! Incrível! Roteiro IMPECÁVEL!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I love the scene at 54.17 where the pedophile gets the lesson of his lifetime.
such a realistic fight scene this show is so well made.
I didn’t watch the series whilst it was in season. It was so very great to stream
Stan could have been so dead and never knew it. Philip let Stan leave his garage when he had the gun and Stan did the same when he had the gun.
Wow, really good point. Like the bookends of the entire arc of the plot
Mindblowing really
Incredible show. Great music, too. That was chilling. Seeing Phillip in the dark. Yikes!
I love this show
Holy shit, straight up Miami Vice homage at 48:02. Don't know how I didnt notice this first go around.
This is totally watchable... Awsome
Rhys is an awesome actor 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Damn, how have I never heard of this show??? After this episode (and a few more short RUclips clips) I'm definitely sold (just ordered the whole DVD set).
you made a wise choice, it's the best show ever made, you might be sad at the end lol.
So have you watched it? I loved The Americans, one of the best shows ever (imo).
Did you finish it? How did you like it?
I fucking love this show, one of the best I've ever seen..if not THE best
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.

@Jameson Dillon Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Jameson Dillon it worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you really help me out!
@Avi Creed no problem =)
I think I am going through the series for the fifth time now. It's so rich, so well played, directed.
The scene starting at around 5:00 is what I thought of immediately when, in the final season, Paige says, condescendingly, to Philip that she knows he's not into what she and her mom do. The look on Phillip's face...
Doesn’t that scene with young Elizabeth trying to fight Timoshev remind you of that scene near the end, when Phil goes over to Paige’s apartment to spar with her? The writers are really good.
@@tamarleighit really does
Love this series. Keri is a sweetheart. Retired Navy 75-95. Radar Weapons Aiming. Was stationed on a Ship in Norfolk in the early 80's. Have lots of pictures of Soviet Ships and Aircraft. The episode where they steal the CNC data for a Submarine Prop when the machine is getting moved then get feedback that it failed and a Soviet Sub was lost when the Prop broke. Look forward to watching the Series over.
Amazing show. ❤
John Boy is on the case...Forgot how good this show really is.
1:05:23 Surprised Stan didn't feel Phillip's presence, though the latter might've wanted to make sure he didn't have to hurt his soon-to-be best friend.
I think he didn't want to kill an FBI agent unless he absolutely had to, given that they'd just gotten the heat off them with Timochev.
Fav show Ever. Incredible
The end of the show was foreshadowed in the conversation they had in their bedroom.
This was a fantastic series. Fantastic.
Stygian Phantasm Hi! The series is good, but the USSR was not the same as it was shown in the series. In the series only lies )) I lived at that time, the police went without weapons, with an empty holster on their belt, at the airport they checked only the plane ticket, they didn't even ask for documents, there were no empty shelves in stores, this began only in 1990, when the USSR was falling apart.
@Scytzo The shortage of food began with the collapse of the USSR.
Whoa!! This show is awesome
No it's shit
@@NormAppleton You? certainly.
Most undervalued pilot and tv show and finale ever.
i didnt want to watch it at first but now i think im hooked '_'
'Ripped'
Seem to be falling deeper in this show, just about done with season one, maybe episode 13. I'm getting further into this KGB ride right down the hill, possibly sone sharp curves and turns coming.
I like it!
Realistic !
Awesome
The soundtrack. *Wow.*
THANK you! Do you have the whole series, or just the pilot?
"I can help you. I can make you rich." WHACK! "Shut up!"
The soundtrack is very good.
The music has hip flavor, that piece where derek luke was shot down from the Cowboys, well pigs, was a perfect music score, I had to backup the whole scene, homeschool went down like a real huey Newton, or watts activist.
The garage would smell.
54:18 the contribution of every father's payback
i was in this! If im not mistaken, i was the kid that jumped over the bench at 42:12 like a dumbass, heheheh
ха ха ха )))
Fernando is so badass.
Im watching the finale now
That guy who was hitting on Page **** up
Who’s here after tonight’s episode? Stan knows, he always knew he was just blind to it
Like Paige saying to Elizabeth, “I’ve always known, every time, every lie.”
It uses Phil Collins' song, really great song from last century.
Sae pisan alur carita na meni tegang ihh..

Tenho essa obra de arte tatuada no meu braço. The wes wing e the americans....p mim a melhor coisa q eu jw assisti na vida.v
47:53 this moment!
The actinng is is superb. And Mathew is so yummy🤩
That FBI agent revealing himself *facepalm* lol
? He wasn’t undercover, he openly held that position.
Они разведчики, а не серийные маньяки. В реальности такого нет.
Алекс, в реальности они просто из пушек стреляли по домам простых американцев )))
It was so dark I couldn't figure out what was happening at the beginning
Please does anyone know the title of the song that starts at 2:10-2:20
tusk - fleetwood mac
@@georginacurrie7419 thanks very much
Is that the same song at the end where Philip watches Stan sneak in and out of his garage?
@@rlouie05 yes it is
Crazy how Philip beat up Joe Rogan like that..
Then ate his burger!
This is an extremely attractive movie
Phillip taking care of business.
41:47 That would be H.Y.D.R.A. for Sitwell.
53:23 Kate (John Reese 's ex girlfriend) of Person of Interest.
58:53 Denton Weeks also of Person of Interest.
How is this on RUclips?
Shh, they'll find it
Amazing....ho the KGB worked isn't it? Остерегайтесь спецнаца
21:30
This actually happened in Russia. Then people were sent to the US and took others' identity and began to spy. This was at the end of 1960-1970
I've been seeing Soviet Spies in Hollywood doing small part since 1970. Today, they have taken over Hollywood casting.
You both are wack jobs!
Sleeper cells who were sent here in the late 1900s are still being caught today lmao

@@em-up2omI highly doubt imperial Russia would be interested in spying on America. 😅 surely you mean the 1990s
The Colonel
12 minutes in, and we are STILL hitting the credits? COME ON... :-(
31:52 "I'm an FBI agent." Philip sh*ts himself.

Ice cream olympics. I'm trying, I really am. I don't get it
Why only one episode from the series ?
I believe it was a pilot show to determine ratings. evidently, it was a hit. now on yr 6, the last series. I have enjoyed the show and will miss it.
The show drew me in to like the Russian spies. in reality, spies have to blend in with the country and make friends. will be a surprise I'm sure on how the series ends.
1:05:00 song please
Fleetwood Mac - "Tusk" And here's a link: ruclips.net/video/SCuUIJVp8mA/видео.html . Great song!
The same song as starts around 5:00 ... .
What's the music at 43:20 ?
Have a look at Google, Sound cloud, Pandora, SoundHound, Shazaam, Spotify ...etc. Plenty of places you can find out.
Yeah I can't find it
Never bought the whole daughter being trained as a spy storyline
Man how annoying did she get?
Yeah that was kinda bad, she was too naive and annoying. The actor dident fit the role and it was poorly written
"Donald Trump"...a lookalike Russian double who replaced the real man...on Oct 6 2020 ..complications of covid 19.
This is a TV show ????!!???
The Americans
46:17 that's what i do to my kids if they dare talk back at me. We need some more discipline in today's society. The belt is not enough.
Yougonasorry's channel cps would like to have a word with you mate
As someone who was physically punished with a tool, all it taught me was to hate and fear the parent wielding the tool. The grandparent who treated me with love and respect was far more successful in instilling their values in me. If the only way you can teach someone smaller and weaker than you good behavior is through violence, you've got bigger problems.
This show was bogus! I really liked it the first season but it went left really quickly cause it wasn't right!
And all of the honey traps... yeah right! The daughter knowing... please! The neighbor waiting all of those years to investigate them... yeah right! He would've already checked them out considering season 1 he was suspicious. I committed myself to all 6 seasons but it was torture and a lot of fast forwarding.
The show's not underrated it's just not very good! And there's a difference. 🤷🏼♀️
Maybe you have awful taste?
The horrible wigs. This show is so stupid.
Awful taste
The Americans is a terrible show from Columbia.
