In this driving video, Mr. T. will show you how it works.
REFERENCE POINT 1: On your own car, you'll look at your driver-side mirror, your passenger-side mirror, and your own car's passenger-side small "triangle" window.
REFERENCE POINT 2: On the car in front of your targeted parking spot, you'll look at that car's driver's side mirror and his driver's side rear corner bumper.
REFERENCE POINT 3: Finally, once you start going in reverse, you'll be looking in your driver's side mirror to catch the driver's side headlight of the car behind you before you start turning into the spot.

KEEP SAFETY ITEMS IN YOUR TRUNK:
Safety items are essential: a vest, a tire gauge, cones, flares, and other items may never be used, but they are the things that when you need them, you really need them and are really glad you have them.
Also don't forget to put some peppermints and granola bars into your glove compartment for use in case you become drowsy and aren't able to pull over because of weather or locale. Usually eating those will give you a lift and keep you alert until you're able to pull over safely.

Sir, How can you tell from the driver's point of view when the front bumper of your car passes the rear bumper of the car in front of you?

Thanks for asking. You have to watch the bumper of the car in front and then estimate everything you do in relation to that, and the amount of space you need before turning will depend entirely upon the length of the bumper of your own car. So if your car has a long bumper, then you will estimate more space, and if your car has a very short bumper, you can estimate less space. But before you turn the wheel, you must be certain that your bumper will not hit the car in front, so you will estimate when your bumper is clearing the car in front and then give your car plenty of space to make the parallel parking turn.
