Warm Winter Days in Alaska | Cutting Trees For Moose Fence

  • It never fails that our first tree of the day hits other trees on the way down!
We are STILL above 30°F and LOVING it! We're back on the homestead today and are cutting trees for two purposes. Becca needs a moose fence around the garden and we both need a better view of the pond for the future cabin.
Moose can jump upwards of 6' and according to our neighbors, love an unprotected garden. We need to do as much as we can on a budget and who doesn't love a good natural fence?
It's going to take a lot of logs to do all the little log projects that we have planned so we thought we could get started on the cutting this winter. Especially while the weather is so great! Cabin fever is fading rapidly this February.
On top of a moose fence, we are planning on using logs to build a firewood bunk/shed, a chicken coop and run, and someday a guest cabin out of logs! So, we better get started on these logs.
Seeds are also on the way for the homestead garden so the garden fever has begun! Stay tuned, we are one week closer to starting work on the cabin and all the surrounding projects. Thank you as always to all of our amazing viewers!

If you get some ski poles it would be good for balancing, when you’re wearing your snowshoes.

Hey guys thanks for sharing. Those snow shoes look like they make the job twice as hard 😂. Several feet of snow makes life difficult but at least you got something done and you were outside living the good life. Keep the little one warm.

You guys are doing a great job. Becca why don’t you put Henry on your back so than you could work better and you won’t have to worry about if you fall down. ❤️🇨🇦

Becca, you are doing such a good job of keeping Henry safe. I would haven fallen going up and down the incline.I'm sure Levi hoped to cut down a lot more trees. When done you will have a beautiful view. Henry is getting so big. Have a great week.

Your baby is so adorable and sweet. God bless him now and always. That looked like tough work getting those trees down and out of there. 💪Big props to you both. 👏 I really wish you all of God's blessings on your journey. It's so much fun watching you guys doing projects together, even felling trees. Love the laughs along the way. Much love from Rhode Island, Terry 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️💯

Would it work that you leave baby in car seat (truck) while he sleeps. You may be able to get a monitor in the truck so you can see him . ( just thinking)

Never never leave a young child much less a baby alone in a vehicle anywhere. Stuff happens. God bless.

Suggestion could you cut the trees drop them on the ice and wrench them up the hill?

You guys should be wearing eye protection from the sun. A couple of days like you have and you will be snow blind.

Just joined your channel and was watching you cutting down trees and then picked up all the branches and took them back. Can you tell me why you do that? We live in Australia in a warm climate so don’t know what you need to do that for.
