I find him more threatening in this game because in this he walks towards you in a terrifying way as this theme is playing and he says things like "you can't hide forever". And adding to that, you never know when he will use super speed...

I don't care what anyone says about this game, that first fight against Wesker and Jill was one the hypest boss battles in the entire series. They did such an amazing job with the whole presentation of that battle and setting Wesker up as such an intimidating and cool villain.
That and the second fight you have with Wesker where this track blares in the background are easily the highlights of the game for me. It genuinely feels like what you'd expect a boss fight that was 10 years in the making to sound like.

The fact they made wesker, a normal looking guy, have one of the scariest fights was just great. You're outmatched and he has your best friend on a leesh. He tanks bullets and punches, then forces you to hide in corridors, while he shouts down the halls to taunt you, and you pray he doesn't see you when you try to stun him. That's how you do action horror
I definitely see it, except for one thing: Vergil is not keen on world domination or personal cruelty. He does what he thinks is necessary, not really taking sadistic pleasure in murder or theft or what have you (even if he IS killing someone) and I sincerely doubt he'd find human experimentation or torture beneficial or honourable. I mean, even the times he did something douchey, e.g. impale Dante, it wasn't without purpose or fueled by sadism, e.g. how the impalement awakened Dante's Devil Trigger. That being said,,, these two have SO MUCH IN COMMON, ESPECIALLY AFTER DMC1 AND DMC5. Capcom can you make them meet and become begrudging buds already? XD

Fully agree. If it wasn't for his execution, I wouldn't even consider him a villain. He's trying to improve humanity, he just doesn't care about who's willing to be a part of it or who has to be sacrificed in the process.

I've always loved this theme because it so brilliantly showcases the fact that Wesker has gone completely off the deep end, and at the end of RE5, we see him as we have never seen him before as the cool, calm and collected Wesker we've always known him to be has evaporated, and now he is totally unhinged and lashing out like a wounded animal, a shadow of what he was in RE Zero,REMAKE, RE Code Veronica, and RE4 although this change in character was necessary to set the stage for his downfall

I think what stands out the most in this fight is Wesker, despite his comments, never really loses all of his humanity. Most RE games end with the villain becoming a giant mass of flesh and horror, and the first part of the final battle of 5 begins with Wesker still looking and sounding perfectly human. I love how the battle subverts the usual "kill it with a rocket launcher" trope and he catches it. Even when he infects himself with Uroboros he still monologues on and on, again subverting the whole mindless flesh monster vibe the whole series had until this point. He isn't a virus monster doing what he was programmed to, he's a human who's chose his own path, which happens to be wipe out 99.9% of humanity with his virus. And then it all doubles back on itself when you actually do kill him with a rocket launcher. A fitting death to a great antagonist of the series.
RE5 is my first high-end game played on my first PC. Life was way easier that time. Going home from school thinking how to 5 star the mercenaries. Now I go home from work thinking if I still have time to play games. Damn.

Nope, I mostly played as Sheva and it was always her that got kicked through the door whilst unleashing a testosterone packed grunt just like Chris does. I never played online so maybe that changed it to Chris getting kicked through the door by default.
