It is sometimes demoralizing to notice how rarely people who have bodies like mine are shown participating in anything aesthetically interesting or appealing. Regarding leather jackets: I couldn’t agree more about he timeless aspect! My grandma had a custom tailored leather jacket made for her in 1978 (along with leather chaps for motorcycle riding!). I found the jacket in the early 2000s as a goth teen, and I’ve been wearing it ever since! I just recently had it conditioned and replaced some zippers and minor tears, and it’s genuinely like new again over 40 years after being made. So not only is it timeless in respect to style, it’s timeless in that it will last a lifetime (or longer!) if properly cared for.
My grandmother had a custom made leather trenchcoat made in the 1970's and she gifted it to me 😊 I had the buttons replaced and the coat is in perfect condition! Timeless indeed.
I’m not really a trends person, I like what I like but I still end up buying things I get home and don’t love. After your Pinterest video I tried to really reflect on what words spoke to my personal style, and I came up with relaxed and classic. I overhauled my Pinterest with 4 style boards, winter/fall relaxed, winter/fall classic, spring/ summer relaxed, and spring/ summer classic. And now I feel like I have a much clearer guide to shop AND get dressed in the morning! What is the weather, and do I want to feel relaxed or classic? Loving these videos btw!

I would love to shop second-hand, but usually the few clothes I find in my size aren’t great quality.
I have LONG thought that there is a need for a plus-specific online secondhand market. The only thing I can think of is Ebay, which is vast, and also Nuuly, which has branched out into secondhand sales. Not sure what the selection is like though.
I work in the supply chain, one of the things we learn in school is that places like zara, which modernized how we see fashion not only from a consumer pov but from a supply chain pov, have a two fold way to production around clothing. Clothes meant to be in the market to generate fomo are manufactured closer to the home, as it is, in that they keep those things in house (think fall collections), so they can make sure they set the amount of demand and meet it in very optimized ways. The white tank/tshirt, however, is what our culture already considers “a staple” so those are manufactured elsewhere and contracted out for majority savings. So yes, the white tank trend is full on a ploy to get us to spend more money on an already staple item because it means people will spend more than they usually would (due to the trend) on an item that manufacturers already make on the penny, thus maximizing earnings on the free for all effect of “this is in this season!” When it’s not like they have to put thought into its production and distribution like they do a curated collection for a specific season this year.
Wholeheartedly agree regarding sequins. As soon as this video finished I went to my closet to dig out a silver sequined crop top I got from free people a couple New Years Eve’s ago. I am 37 weeks pregnant and I am going to wear it with my maternity leggings to go get an ice cream sundae tonight. Thank you for the inspiration!

Always look forward to your videos and agree with most of these thoughts on trends. OTK boots however are great under long (maxi dresses/skirt) and offer additional warm during the winter. Especially if there’s a slit detail or a button-down skirt moment

The perfect white tank in autumn is Nadaam's ethical cashmere. so cozy. so soft. wore it every day & night last fall & winter - as an undershirt☺️ finally forced to shed it during the heat wave.
As a rule, whites are not allowed in my house. Neither my partner nor I wear any crisp white clothing because... we can't be trusted. Tank trends bring me back to the early 2010s when my wardrobe consisted of long ribbed tanks from Target in every color...which I often paired with structured jackets / faux leather when I moved to a colder climate. Trends are recycling more quickly it seems, which isn't a bad thing. I think instead of going for a statement Coat or other exterior item, shoot for statement accessories that can easily be swapped between seasons like home decor (like throw pillow cases or curtains). So long lines are in, long coats, long skirts, the long look of a tank top, long boots, probably long pointed toe heels, maybe crossbody bags that lack bulk or width, I'm expecting straight hair trends (oh please no, my hair has finally recovered from early 2000s straightener abuse). I've also seen low rise jeans coming back... but maybe that trend is so body type-specific that it faded quickly.
I am a low rise living body type and I have been waiting for the trend to come back! Very glad the high rise people had their day but high wasters things are very uncomfortable for me and I literally cannot find mid/low rise leggings anywhere. The waistband cuts into my gut, it’s strange! I think the market will continue to widen and I hope all rises are represented soon!
I really enjoyed this very practical take on talking about trends. You hit the nail on the head with coats. I finally thrifted my good winter coat last year and while it has drop shoulders and statement balloon sleeves, I don't see it ever not working for me because both are in keeping with my style and practical for layering. On the other hand, I'm 5'2'', so maxi length are a bit of a death knoll, since midi lengths work as full for me. This year really does feel like a weird one for trends- I think every video I've watched has highlighted a completely different set (though all of them mentioned the white tank, which I am not about.) Sequins is a new one, but I'm always eying them on secondhand sites (and added some today) and that might be the only one I pull the trigger on this year.

I appreciate you looking at these trends through a detailed practical lens, and recognising their environmental impact. I actually think a great way to indulge in some of these trends is to take something more classic that you already own, love and trust, and customise it or get it altered. Adding embroidery to a leather jacket (I’ve handmade big detailed patches that I could, if I later wanted to, remove from the jacket) or putting large shoulder pads into a coat to explore a different silhouette.

I really vibe with your response to the maxi trend when it comes to seasonal trend colours that you already know are *your* colours. I recently had colour analysis and learned I am a warm spring and therefore look best in things like Kelly green and a variety of blues (cobalt blue is my favourite shade ever?!). But even before I had that experience and professional validation through this the professional wardrobe colour theory work, i have always gravitated towards these shades in both my wardrobe and in general practice. Not only did I love these colours but I loved how they played off my fairer skin, strawberry blond hair and paler eyes, really making my features pop and although I couldn’t exactly place why they worked on me, I would return to them because they seemed right and the colours brought me joy beyond how they worked with y colouring. Luckily for me, these colours seemed to have a moment in the spring and summer and I was able to take this information I’ve collected over the years about what looks good on me and what brings me joy in my wardrobe but have a greater selection of silhouettes, subtle differences in shades and generally more choice to make the best decisions when adding these preferred colours in my wardrobe to be worn far beyond their trendiness in the style zeitgeist. It allows me not only choice, which makes sure that the colour alone isn’t what makes me buy it which can sometimes lead down the path of getting a garment that is not “right” in some other why (fit, how well it lasts and washes) and ends up in the back of the closet for that reason. And in addition to the greater variety the trend cycle means that can often find the pieces on sale or second hand to come, again offering workhorse garments at a more accessible price for me, but knowing even if bought for their original price would be inexpensive when looking at cost per wear because I had the options to find the best version of a classic to me piece. Basically in addition, to what you said about availability and cost, it allows greater options to buy from known entities and brands you trust that are incorporating trends and buy pieces you know will last in both quality and style, but in colours I love deeply and are usually not as available. So that’s the upside of trend colours and this can also extend to seasonal colours, like brown which I am learning suits me better than black as it’s less harsh, that tend to not be trends per say as they show up every year but a have wider availability at different times of year, allowing you buy for nuance instead of settling for a not right fit or even shade that is slightly off (again warm vs cool browns, or cob,at vs royal blues). All in all, I think by flooding the market with in colours, you can look at the nuances of a garment which in my experiences us often what differentiates a great garment and one that works but only in theory and therefore doesn’t get worn. Great vid and very important to discuss in relation to better shopping because trends can be helpful even when you already have a very defined style and ideas about what does and doesn’t suit you!
I am a short girl, so I definitely adore over the knee boots paired with mini skirts and a funky sweater in the fall or a layered tank and cardi in both fall and spring. My main issue in finding a good pair is finding one that looks as sleek, intense, and statement as I want with the practicality of a walkable heel.
I think I own a statement coat it's bright red and wool. I love it a lot and look forward to it every winter. But red is also my favourite colour, I have a lot of it and it works very well with my clothes.
I enjoyed hearing your feelings about the autumn fashion trends. As I've gotten older I dont let trends influence my taste. Ive always been a bit of a hippy so ethnic clothes appeal to me. And although I used to wear dresses and midi and maxi skirts alot when younger, Ive been braver about wearing mostly jeans with ethnic tops nowadays despite having a pear shape. I really enjoy a longer tea dress and have a denim jacket and combat boots that makes a great subversive mix.
I absolutely agree that if its already in your closet, revel in the fact that the pieces you already own are on trend. Use it as an excuse to pair things differently than you have because their on trend. Make it a fun exercise. We don’t need to go buy anything new to be trendy. I’m excited for the opportunity to wear a sequined tank that Ive had for years and see what I come up with 😉
Yes, like you, I love love maxis! I've worn maxi skirts since college in the 1970s. I always feel a bit elegant, particularly if they are full and gathered at the waist. Like a princess. I make my own out of vintage tablecloths. I also love a good, classic trench coat. They will always look classy. And I love sequins, tiny beads, and all things sparkly. I mean, what's not to love?
As a person of the alternative/goth/metalhead/motorcyclist persuasion- I've had *plenty* of leather jackets! If you're going to buy a leather jacket from a thrift store, check it over thoroughly. Faux leather can start to peel and flake, so if something is marked as leather and has peeling or flaking and is marked at a higher price as if it were leather, it might be worth seeing if you can get a discount ;) Another thing is to check that the leather is still nice and supple and has been well looked after- it gets stiff and can crack with age, so keep an eye out for that. Also, check over the lining and also zip edging- zips on leather jackets can frequently become weakened as people seem to tug on them harder than a lighter material so that's another point. Finally, for a real leather jacket, buy some leather care products, look after it and it'll last you a lifetime. Motorcycle equipment companies make some good care products, so they're always worth a look and they'll keep your jacket nice and supple for a very, very long time :)
I would love if you made a video about different fabrics and how to wash and care for them. You have that knowledge and I am currently struggling with things. Like I have some beautiful high quality socks that are bright white with black stripes. I’m terrified that the dye will ruin the white. Or stain removal or wash temperature.
Awesome video, Hannah, and I love your analysis. I don’t follow trends too much anymore now that I’m older; I stick to a pretty classic style for the most part. But it’s fun to see what’s out there, even if I don’t really partake. I do have to say that the trench coat with the eyes is pretty hideous, and although there were a few coats I liked, I don’t think they’ll have much staying power.
Anything that won't survive a trip to the barn to take care of the horses is a no go for me. It doesn't matter how much I tell myself that I definitely won't wear something to the barn, it is inevitable! Also white anything is a no go. We have extremely hard water, so anything white turns gross yellow, and I refuse to drive 30 miles one way for a dry cleaner. My trend of scrubs for work and jeans with t-shirts/sweaters continues! 🤣

I was always cautious about light coloured clothing. I knew it would be hard to keep clean. Plus I love black. However, the most counter intuitive realization happened when I became a mother. I needed a neutral for my daughter's wardrobe, but I don't really like putting little kids in black. So I tried white. And it's been amazing. You can bleach almost anything out of pure white! Even I started wearing white. I think we look elegant and clean.
Not me discovering HLP last week and then binge watching as many videos as humanly possible all week long. And now wanting a wolf cut and wishing real wool didn’t make me sooo itchy. I’m so happy that white tank trend, I use them as a layering tool (not on their own). I have been wearing them nonstop for the last 15 years, a real staple for me. Some years I’ve struggled to replace my white tanks (usually after 2-3 years), because they were difficult to find! I usually buy them from Old Navy (2-3 years is not a bad life cycle for something I wear 2-3 times a week). 🥰
I think a while tank is the only thing wear regularly, that is in any of these trends. I just buy the 3pks from old navy that have a black, white, and a dark red/grey/blue. I buy there becasue they come in "tall" sizes so they actually fit well.

I dunno. I have a navy embellished (think little ruffle edgings etc) trench that I bought over a decade ago and still wear. Because the embellishments suit my style (I feel like Mary Poppins in the stage show when I wear it and quite honestly that's a vibe I often aim for!😂) and the rest of my wardrobe I still enjoy it. So I think it is more about finding something that might be trending but thinking does this really represent me and my style and will I continue to wear it and look chic because I'm confident in it, even when it is no longer 'trendy'. Which you could still do with some of those trench coats you had as examples. But the mantra of don't just buy BC it is trendy is 👌 I always think of if I am taking advantage of a trend to get something I've always kind of wanted or is a trend taking advantage of me.

I'm into my second year of white tank wearing and I LUUV them! I purchased a ribbed classic one and a one shoulder asymmetric version, over a year ago (at high street price point) with birthday money and was surprised at how often they got worn last Summer. They replaced T shirts and some ditzy floral tops of my previous Summer style statements. I like my shoulders - they are one of the more skinny and youthful parts of my body - and a good collar bone situation is my current vibe! Plus having white near my face gives my middle-aged medium tone complexion a lift! This year I've purchased an orange ribbed tank body suit because I want to make black white and orange my key colours this coming Summer. (Its currently the end of Spring) I've noticed sos far though that the orange is not as flattering as the white next to my face. Maybe I need to get more tanned to pull it off.
You talked about quality, I don't know if I just got lucky or whether NZ has better quality clothes, but at a midrange price, my thick ribbed white cotton tanks still look great after more than five washes. I can't discern any deterioration or lack of freshness. The brand is Witchery. The label says 95% cotton 5% elastine.
I just purchased a very cool leather jacket from the Real Real. I’m almost 50 and I’ve never owned one, mostly because it took me that long to find one I *love* I knew I wanted second hand because if the leather is great quality, it gets better over time, and obviously, price. I’ve searched every July for decades to find a leather jacket that spoke to me, this year, it did and I can’t wait to wear this fall, and all the autumns that follow.
I just purchased a new leather jacket at Ross for 23$, and I'm soooo happy with it! I almost got it in a dark teal-green but chose to get it in black. After watching your video, I'm even happier with my purchase!

I love watching trend videos and articles, but the other day I realised trends are what fashion images - runway shows, ads, magazines, social media - at a certain time have IN COMMON. That made me suddenly dislike trends, because I love people expressing their unique self, also through clothes. I have like seven tank tops and no white one and there is a good reason for that: white tanks are actually really hard to wear. I think the amount I worry about my bra showing, spilling on it or it not being work appropriate just outweighs the easy win that it would be to pick one up to be on trend. I always pick up leather jackets when I'm in vintage stores, but I never pay more than like $30 for one. I have enough that I occasionally have to edit them out of my closet. I love them, but there only about 6 weeks in Minnesota where they really work. This overlaps with blazer season and I have a lot of those as well. I'm obsessed with over the knee boots but I'm short, I've got pretty curvy legs and I really want some and I think they would work for my wardrobe. They are super expensive though and I'm worried I won't get enough wear to make it worth it. Love the idea of sewing sequins onto some of my clothes. Maybe one of my blazers that I only get to wear like twice a year, lol.

I have LONG thought that there is a need for a plus-specific online secondhand market. The only thing I can think of is Ebay, which is vast, and also Nuuly, which has branched out into secondhand sales. Not sure what the selection is like though.

I work in the supply chain, one of the things we learn in school is that places like zara, which modernized how we see fashion not only from a consumer pov but from a supply chain pov, have a two fold way to production around clothing. Clothes meant to be in the market to generate fomo are manufactured closer to the home, as it is, in that they keep those things in house (think fall collections), so they can make sure they set the amount of demand and meet it in very optimized ways. The white tank/tshirt, however, is what our culture already considers “a staple” so those are manufactured elsewhere and contracted out for majority savings. So yes, the white tank trend is full on a ploy to get us to spend more money on an already staple item because it means people will spend more than they usually would (due to the trend) on an item that manufacturers already make on the penny, thus maximizing earnings on the free for all effect of “this is in this season!” When it’s not like they have to put thought into its production and distribution like they do a curated collection for a specific season this year.

Wholeheartedly agree regarding sequins. As soon as this video finished I went to my closet to dig out a silver sequined crop top I got from free people a couple New Years Eve’s ago. I get the trepidation about the embellished trench, but the one on the first slide on the left with the trim? Sets my heart a pitter-patter! I might take my thrifted trench and hand appliqué some trim for the look just for fun.

As a rule, whites are not allowed in my house. Neither my partner nor I wear any crisp white clothing because... we can't be trusted. Tank trends bring me back to the early 2010s when my wardrobe consisted of long ribbed tanks from Target in every color...which I often paired with structured jackets / faux leather when I moved to a colder climate. Trends are recycling more quickly it seems, which isn't a bad thing. I think instead of going for a statement Coat or other exterior item, shoot for statement accessories that can easily be swapped between seasons like home decor (like throw pillow cases or curtains).
So long lines are in, long coats, long skirts, the long look of a tank top, long boots, probably long pointed toe heels, maybe crossbody bags that lack bulk or width, I'm expecting straight hair trends (oh please no, my hair has finally recovered from early 2000s straightener abuse).
I've also seen low rise jeans coming back... but maybe that trend is so body type-specific that it faded quickly.
I am a low rise living body type and I have been waiting for the trend to come back! Very glad the high rise people had their day but high wasters things are very uncomfortable for me and I literally cannot find mid/low rise leggings anywhere. The waistband cuts into my gut, it’s strange! I think the market will continue to widen and I hope all rises are represented soon!

I really enjoyed this very practical take on talking about trends. You hit the nail on the head with coats. I finally thrifted my good winter coat last year and while it has drop shoulders and statement balloon sleeves, I don't see it ever not working for me because both are in keeping with my style and practical for layering. On the other hand, I'm 5'2'', so maxi length are a bit of a death knoll, since midi lengths work as full for me.
This year really does feel like a weird one for trends- I think every video I've watched has highlighted a completely different set (though all of them mentioned the white tank, which I am not about.) Sequins is a new one, but I'm always eying them on secondhand sites (and added some today) and that might be the only one I pull the trigger on this year.

I appreciate you looking at these trends through a detailed practical lens, and recognising their environmental impact.
I actually think a great way to indulge in some of these trends is to take something more classic that you already own, love and trust, and customise it or get it altered. Adding embroidery to a leather jacket (I’ve handmade big detailed patches that I could, if I later wanted to, remove from the jacket) or putting large shoulder pads into a coat to explore a different silhouette.

I really vibe with your response to the maxi trend when it comes to seasonal trend colours that you already know are *your* colours. I recently had colour analysis and learned I am a warm spring and therefore look best in things like Kelly green and a variety of blues (cobalt blue is my favourite shade ever?!). But even before I had that experience and professional validation through this the professional wardrobe colour theory work, i have always gravitated towards these shades in both my wardrobe and in general practice. Not only did I love these colours but I loved how they played off my fairer skin, strawberry blond hair and paler eyes, really making my features pop and although I couldn’t exactly place why they worked on me, I would return to them because they seemed right and the colours brought me joy beyond how they worked with y colouring. Luckily for me, these colours seemed to have a moment in the spring and summer and I was able to take this information I’ve collected over the years about what looks good on me and what brings me joy in my wardrobe but have a greater selection of silhouettes, subtle differences in shades and generally more choice to make the best decisions when adding these preferred colours in my wardrobe to be worn far beyond their trendiness in the style zeitgeist. It allows me not only choice, which makes sure that the colour alone isn’t what makes me buy it which can sometimes lead down the path of getting a garment that is not “right” in some other why (fit, how well it lasts and washes) and ends up in the back of the closet for that reason. And in addition to the greater variety the trend cycle means that can often find the pieces on sale or second hand to come, again offering workhorse garments at a more accessible price for me, but knowing even if bought for their original price would be inexpensive when looking at cost per wear because I had the options to find the best version of a classic to me piece. Basically in addition, to what you said about availability and cost, it allows greater options to buy from known entities and brands you trust that are incorporating trends and buy pieces you know will last in both quality and style, but in colours I love deeply and are usually not as available. So that’s the upside of trend colours and this can also extend to seasonal colours, like brown which I am learning suits me better than black as it’s less harsh, that tend to not be trends per say as they show up every year but a have wider availability at different times of year, allowing you buy for nuance instead of settling for a not right fit or even shade that is slightly off (again warm vs cool browns, or cob,at vs royal blues). All in all, I think by flooding the market with in colours, you can look at the nuances of a garment which in my experiences us often what differentiates a great garment and one that works but only in theory and therefore doesn’t get worn. Great vid and very important to discuss in relation to better shopping because trends can be helpful even when you already have a very defined style and ideas about what does and doesn’t suit you!
I am a short girl, so I definitely adore over the knee boots paired with mini skirts and a funky sweater in the fall or a layered tank and cardi in both fall and spring. My main issue in finding a good pair is finding one that looks as sleek, intense, and statement as I want with the practicality of a walkable heel.
I think I own a statement coat it's bright red and wool. I love it a lot and look forward to it every winter. But red is also my favourite colour, I have a lot of it and it works very well with my clothes.

As I've gotten older I dont let trends influence my taste.
Ive always been a bit of a hippy so ethnic clothes appeal to me. And although I used to wear dresses and midi and maxi skirts alot when younger, Ive been braver about wearing mostly jeans with ethnic tops nowadays despite having a pear shape.
I really enjoy a longer tea dress and have a denim jacket and combat boots that makes a great subversive mix.
I absolutely agree that if its already in your closet, revel in the fact that the pieces you already own are on trend. Use it as an excuse to pair things differently than you have because their on trend. Make it a fun exercise. We don’t need to go buy anything new to be trendy. I’m excited for the opportunity to wear a sequined tank that Ive had for years and see what I come up with 😉

Yes, like you, I love love maxis! I've worn maxi skirts since college in the 1970s. I always feel a bit elegant, particularly if they are full and gathered at the waist. Like a princess. I make my own out of vintage tablecloths. I also love a good, classic trench coat. They will always look classy. And I love sequins, tiny beads, and all things sparkly. I mean, what's not to love?
As a person of the alternative/goth/metalhead/motorcyclist persuasion- I've had *plenty* of leather jackets! If you're going to buy a leather jacket from a thrift store, check it over thoroughly. Faux leather can start to peel and flake, so if something is marked as leather and has peeling or flaking and is marked at a higher price as if it were leather, it might be worth seeing if you can get a discount ;)
Another thing is to check that the leather is still nice and supple and has been well looked after- it gets stiff and can crack with age, so keep an eye out for that. Also, check over the lining and also zip edging- zips on leather jackets can frequently become weakened as people seem to tug on them harder than a lighter material so that's another point.
Finally, for a real leather jacket, buy some leather care products, look after it and it'll last you a lifetime. Motorcycle equipment companies make some good care products, so they're always worth a look and they'll keep your jacket nice and supple for a very, very long time :)
I would love if you made a video about different fabrics and how to wash and care for them. You have that knowledge and I am currently struggling with things. Like I have some beautiful high quality socks that are bright white with black stripes. I’m terrified that the dye will ruin the white. Or stain removal or wash temperature.
Awesome video, Hannah, and I love your analysis. I don’t follow trends too much anymore now that I’m older; I stick to a pretty classic style for the most part. But it’s fun to see what’s out there, even if I don’t really partake. I do have to say that the trench coat with the eyes is pretty hideous, and although there were a few coats I liked, I don’t think they’ll have much staying power.

Anything that won't survive a trip to the barn to take care of the horses is a no go for me. It doesn't matter how much I tell myself that I definitely won't wear something to the barn, it is inevitable! Also white anything is a no go. We have extremely hard water, so anything white turns gross yellow, and I refuse to drive 30 miles one way for a dry cleaner. My trend of scrubs for work and jeans with t-shirts/sweaters continues! 🤣

thrift stores have so many "Statement" coats. also i love maxi dresses. i always wear dresses, even when im lounging around the house.
I was always cautious about light coloured clothing. I knew it would be hard to keep clean. Plus I love black. However, the most counter intuitive realization happened when I became a mother. I needed a neutral for my daughter's wardrobe, but I don't really like putting little kids in black. So I tried white. And it's been amazing. You can bleach almost anything out of pure white! Even I started wearing white. I think we look elegant and clean.
Not me discovering HLP last week and then binge watching as many videos as humanly possible all week long. And now wanting a wolf cut and wishing real wool didn’t make me sooo itchy. I’m so happy that white tank trend, I use them as a layering tool (not on their own). I have been wearing them nonstop for the last 15 years, a real staple for me. Some years I’ve struggled to replace my white tanks (usually after 2-3 years), because they were difficult to find! I usually buy them from Old Navy (2-3 years is not a bad life cycle for something I wear 2-3 times a week). 🥰
I think a while tank is the only thing wear regularly, that is in any of these trends. I just buy the 3pks from old navy that have a black, white, and a dark red/grey/blue. I buy there becasue they come in "tall" sizes so they actually fit well.

I dunno. I have a navy embellished (think little ruffle edgings etc) trench that I bought over a decade ago and still wear. Because the embellishments suit my style (I feel like Mary Poppins in the stage show when I wear it and quite honestly that's a vibe I often aim for!😂) and the rest of my wardrobe I still enjoy it. So I think it is more about finding something that might be trending but thinking does this really represent me and my style and will I continue to wear it and look chic because I'm confident in it, even when it is no longer 'trendy'. Which you could still do with some of those trench coats you had as examples.
But the mantra of don't just buy BC it is trendy is 👌 I always think of if I am taking advantage of a trend to get something I've always kind of wanted or is a trend taking advantage of me.

I'm into my second year of white tank wearing and I LUUV them! I purchased a ribbed classic one and a one shoulder asymmetric version, over a year ago (at high street price point) with birthday money and was surprised at how often they got worn last Summer. They replaced T shirts and some ditzy floral tops of my previous Summer style statements. I like my shoulders - they are one of the more skinny and youthful parts of my body - and a good collar bone situation is my current vibe! Plus having white near my face gives my middle-aged medium tone complexion a lift! This year I've purchased an orange ribbed tank body suit because I want to make black white and orange my key colours this coming Summer. (Its currently the end of Spring) I've noticed sos far though that the orange is not as flattering as the white next to my face. Maybe I need to get more tanned to pull it off.
You talked about quality, I don't know if I just got lucky or whether NZ has better quality clothes, but at a midrange price, my thick ribbed white cotton tanks still look great after more than five washes. I can't discern any deterioration or lack of freshness. The brand is Witchery. The label says 95% cotton 5% elastine.

I just purchased a very cool leather jacket from the Real Real. I’m almost 50 and I’ve never owned one, mostly because it took me that long to find one I *love* I knew I wanted second hand because if the leather is great quality, it gets better over time, and obviously, price. I’ve searched every July for decades to find a leather jacket that spoke to me, this year, it did and I can’t wait to wear this fall, and all the autumns that follow.
I just purchased a new leather jacket at Ross for 23$, and I'm soooo happy with it! I almost got it in a dark teal-green but chose to get it in black. After watching your video, I'm even happier with my purchase!

I love watching trend videos and articles, but the other day I realised trends are what fashion images - runway shows, ads, magazines, social media - at a certain time have IN COMMON. That made me suddenly dislike trends, because I love people expressing their unique self, also through clothes. I do still see trends as a good opportunity to find styles you like when they happen to be on trend. Also, thank you for the diversity in the models in your photos. Cheers!
I have like seven tank tops and no white one and there is a good reason for that: white tanks are actually really hard to wear. I think the amount I worry about my bra showing, spilling on it or it not being work appropriate just outweighs the easy win that it would be to pick one up to be on trend. I always pick up leather jackets when I'm in vintage stores, but I never pay more than like $30 for one. I have enough that I occasionally have to edit them out of my closet. I love them, but there only about 6 weeks in Minnesota where they really work. This overlaps with blazer season and I have a lot of those as well. I'm obsessed with over the knee boots but I'm short, I've got pretty curvy legs and I really want some and I think they would work for my wardrobe. They are super expensive though and I'm worried I won't get enough wear to make it worth it. Love the idea of sewing sequins onto some of my clothes. Maybe one of my blazers that I only get to wear like twice a year, lol.
