Jen, one thing about the striped tee that I noticed: the stripes don’t match up on the side seams, and they aren’t symmetrical on the two shoulders. This is a sign of poor quality (the manufacturer didn’t bother cutting pieces of fabric that line up properly) and it stands out immediately to those who have an eye for it. For the sweaters and tops, if you can try to choose natural fibers like cotton, silk, wool and cashmere over cheaper fibers like acrylic and polyester, which can have an unappealing plasticy sheen up close and usually don’t drape very well. As a bonus, the less polyester you wear the fewer micro plastics you’re putting into the environment every time you wash it :)
Also for those who don’t know, the fabric content on your clothes is always printed on the inner tag (usually in the side seam for tops and sweaters) and if you’re shopping online the manufacturer will list it somewhere on the page.
That was the first thing I noticed too! The stripes match on the side closest to the mirror but not on the other side which makes me think the fabric is off grain which would mean it would be likely to twist when it gets washed!
I believe she said that stripe shirt was Sonoma, That is a brand that kohls carries pretty sure it's their own brand. I would never pay 40 something for that shirt
Have you ever thought about hiring a stylist to help teach you? I had a friend work with one who helped her learn what silhouettes make her feel most confident, what colors compliment her complexion, and they went through her existing closet highlighting what is working best. The person she worked with was Emmaline Personal Styling. 💚
I agree to the suggestion of hiring a stylist. The prices on these clothing items are way too high. They don't look like they are better quality than target. Look at what you tend to where and write down what the neckline looks like, the length of a top, the fit, the fabric etc You will see a pattern to your choices. BUT, a stylist would help you mush more. Like what things are worth an investment because they are classic etc.
Every major department store employs stylists. When my son (who would only wear gym shorts and tees) was entering college, I took him to Dillard’s and my husband’s stylist. The stylist had a son about the same age as my son. My son purchased a lot of clothes and now looks very “young man chic” and is very confident dressing every day. He even wears shoes that are not sneakers! I’m not going to tell you that it wasn’t expensive. The difference is that he is confident, looks modern and feels like a young man, not a boy. He has purchased other items (without the stylist) that work for him and his new “look”. So he definitely learned how to dress from spending half a day with this stylist. I think it’s totally worth it. First impressions matter and sometimes people take you more seriously if you show that you are taking time to dress nicely and appropriately.
That wrap top was super cute! You can always wear a camisole underneath to avoid unintentional overexposure. I also really like the red pants. As long as the corduroy isn’t making whoosh-whoosh sound, that it would be cute casual holiday party look with the wrap top, or really pretty in fall with a lightweight charcoal or other neutral sweater. The chunky sweater was a little too much texture with the corduroy. I like the cardigan too- it looks cozy. Both these boxes have some cute stuff, but they’re way overpriced.
I’m done with stitch fix since they never pay attention to the notes and my preferences. In all caps I’ve put “ no floral prints!” And I get floral in every box. I’m convinced there’s no actual “ stylist” and the boxes are just packed at random.
I agree! I always say no cuffed shorts or pants and no cut offs..... my last fix the first thing I pulled out was cuffed pants. I'm done. This had happened so many times.
I got stitch fix for almost 2 years and honestly I really enjoyed it. lt was kind of fun to get a surprise box of clothes every two months! The only reason I stopped the subscription was because we went down to one income in our household and the expense didn’t make sense. I do miss it! The one thing I have to say that annoyed me was that it was always more cost-effective to just keep all the clothes because the discount really made a big difference. If I was planning to just send one thing back it almost made more sense to just send it all back otherwise I felt like I was supremely overpaying for just a few items!
Styling tip, neutrals go with everything…including each other. Animal print is a neutral as well. When in doubt if you’re wearing a colored shirt or pants, wear a neutral top or bottom. If you’re wearing a patterned bottom wear a solid top, and visa versa. Hopefully that makes sense and helps you out! 🥰
Wantable is a No for everything. I like what you picked from Stitchfix. I love doing stying boxes. It’s good to remember we that they’re charging extra for the service and convenience. They have helped me to improve my fashion sense. I noticed that Macys had a stylist you can try for free. I’m going to try them. Also, I like Fashom and Trendsend.
UR preachin to the choir Gurl!! I'm 50 & my Mother STILL has better Fashion Sense than I do!! She was in Retail & has been picking out my clothes MY WHOLE LIFE 😂 & still is. I'm GRATEFUL she's still here & can pick out her daughter's clothes lol. Blessed & BEST dressed
I think subconsciously you know more than you think, if you look at the color wheel colors that are opposite of each other tend to be complimentary such as the red/green, purple/yellow, blue/orange
The red pants were super cute on you. I have various pairs of colored pants and you would be surprised at how well you can make them work. Especially if it is a darker pant color (like the red), and you own lots of simple graphic tees (which I know you do!). I find that it's difficult to match anything that is lighter colored (even just lighter blue jeans).
LOVE the cream top it is so flattering and I LOVE it with the red pants. I wish you’d keep the pants you look so stylish😭 I agree with all your opinions on the stitch fix pieces, but I do love the over piece, it’s my favorite. I think it looks good with the shirt you tried it on with as well. OH and I love the boots! They are fairly priced as well
The surplice top you can wear any camisole underneath. Any neutral color (white, black, beige, gray, brown, etc .) Same goes with colored pants. A neutral top. Shoes that are similar color to your pants or sneakers. Or just wear what you like what you feel comfortable in .... I get it....I grew up wearing my brother's hand me downs......who got his clothes as hand me downs from friends kids.....so totally get you!!
You could wear a cami. Or I'd wear my authentic vintage Grateful Dead tank with the cover art from the "Blues for Allah" album on front. In fact, that tank top would look great with any of those shirts or sweaters, or with nothing but a bra (please! Braless didn't work for me even way back when!) You need a signature tank, maybe your own merch if it says "the collective brain" on it!
I love the concept of these services, and getting the box full of surprises is always fun. But they never truly hit for me. Even things I liked, usually end up being rejects once I have them in my closet for “real life”. Great review/comparison.
Jen, I suggest you buy a white and a black camisole - they're basic pieces that could go under a lot of things. Either would work with the wrap top and jeans, or the cozy sweater jacket (keep the jacket on). They can also go under a pullover sweater that's scratchy on your body, I have no interest in clothing subscriptions, for several reasons. I'm a hard fit, and picky about getting clothing that fits perfectly. I also have strong style and fabric preferences. Finally, if I gave them my age they would put me in "old lady" clothing, most of which I find awful.
No pockets in the jacket… I think the stitch fix brown sweater fit very nicely. The green one from the other place just hung down loose. Right choice on the red pants. Like the beige top. Shoes - love. Well done Jen. Oh, earrings nothing great
I like the black shirt...but not for $70. Love the boots, and the jeans look great but if you won't wear them there is no point. Thanks again for the video today, I wasn't expecting it. Made my day!
Oh my gosh! Those boots are a definite yesssss girl! That cardigan yessss! And the first shirt from stitch fix! You have to keep those jeans from wantable with those boots and the cardigan is a knockout!
Thank you for sharing. I've been using StitchFix for years. Even have the "style pass". With their keep all 5 items discount it sometimes more worth it to keep everything and maybe gift or sell the one thing you are not interested in. For your wantable box I actually loved the corduroy pants on you. I actually think they would look great with most vintage style T-shirt's. And the blue striped sweater was a very complimentary color.
I've used Stitch Fix, Wantable, and Nadine West. I like Stitch Fix. Quality is better. Also, I am 4'10, 105 lbs, 62 years young. I absolutely CANNOT find decent clothing in my size in any of the brick and mortar stores. These subscriptions are a life saver for me.
Hey Jen ~ I really liked the burgundy pants and tan deep vee top from wantable plus the gold earrings! That was a super adorable outfit!!! As for the tops and shoes from stitch fix, I loved them all! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Hi Jen, in regards to colored pants, I would say black and white tops always match with colored pants and different shades of whatever color the pants are. So if you’re wearing like dark green pants, maybe a lighter shade of green.
I LOVE clothes. I learned what looks good on my plus size body. Most of the time though I'm in scrubs for work or jeans and t-shirts. I do dress up for karaoke nights though.
I like the stitch fix stuff and the one shirt you were thinking from the wantable. Also those jeans were cute, but if ya don’t need them, ya don’t need them. I did like the colored jeans, but if you’re not sure what you’d do with them, they’d just be a waste. I think you did the right thing! 😊
I really like that sherpa looking cardigan on you. My questions to ask on that would be 1. Does it have a closure on it and does it fit you when closed. How does it fall on you when closed and is it flattering 2. It looks like a fall or early winter piece. Cute definitely. But I'm not sure you'd get much wear out of it until things start warming up more. That said, the price is reasonable for a cardigan like that. I'm a fan
Fellow fashion impaired person here. Love the idea of stitch fix or something similar, never have pulled the trigger on that, but I really probably should. My saving grace lately has been the classy yet trendy blog. There are seasonal capsule wardrobes with item by item outfit ideas and monthly calendars. So if you really don't want to think about it at all you can just figure out what number outfit you're supposed to have that day and then what outfit that is and put it together. Being capsule wardrobes they lean heavily on neutrals and timeless pieces so pretty much anything I put together from the 30ish items is unlikely to look terrible. Might be something to explore.
I agree with your choices. I think I would keep the cream cross front sweater. You can wear a pretty camisole under it to dress it up a little. Or leave it as is with a chunky statement necklace. The booties are GREAT! Def keep those. The hooded wrap, I would keep. I bet it's much more versatile than you think. Over a cotton tee on those days when a full jacket is too much, or with a Henley shirt for an added layer of warmth...makes this a keeper in my book. The shirt you're wearing at the end is an obvi keep. The brown sweater - keep. The earrings...nice. Not too much, not too plain. I'm not shot in the ass over the price, but if they seem like good quality, they are classic enough that you could wear them forever, so consider them an investment.
Wantable top (where a cami tucked in underneath). Where either the wantable cords /earrings add stitch fix boots and hoody wrap. Also the dress with chunky tights and the boots and the hoody wrap .
Maroon slacks look good with any neutral colored top - black, any shade of brown, white, cream/ivory, any neutral metallic (gold, bronze, silver, etc). They don’t even have to be plain. I have dark green and maroon slacks and love them. I pair my Christmas sweater (ivory with maroon reindeer) with either pair of colored slacks. The gold sweater with the maroon slacks is very cute, IMO.
Fun video! That green sweater looked really chic on you. You look great in that color. The red pants looked very flattering. Wrap top looked great too. Someone else here suggested a cami underneath. I would say further, a stretchy, v neck one on the long side so you can pull it below the sweater. That t-shirt, to me, looked just right for a grade school kid from the 70’s. Stitch Fix won in my opinion. But really, my opinion doesn’t matter, Jen. While I’m enjoying weighing in, what matters is what you think!❤
This is always fun. I love the transition with the colored clouds! I thought this red pants looked great on you but you are right - if you won’t wear them they need to go back. I really liked everything you kept and you made good choices. The beige booby shirt looked really nice on you on camera but if you aren’t comfortable - again you won’t wear it so it needs to go.
The red pants look fantastic on you. Maybe try them with the brown sweater. The sherpa cozy cardigan would be cute, but I think it's too fitted, should be a size bigger and hang more. Love those boots!
Jen I think you have to think about how you’d accessorize and style the pieces. The wantable sweater you thought was bland would look so modern with a few layered gold necklaces and a low sleek bun. Meaning, don’t rely of the piece alone to carry your entire fashion sense, accessorizing is equally as important!
The red pants go with the shirt you kept, the grey sweater and the striped shirt. The sweater dress was cute on you. I suggest a sweater dress with a different neckline and a softer fabric. Pair it with leggings/tights and the boots you kept or taller (mid calf) boots.
Keep the wantable criss cross top. Add a tank underneath if you want! Definitely a keeper for you!! In my opinion, if you find one unique thing or new thing for you, it's a win. It gets you to try on stuff you never would have off the rack. I like to try on stuff, see how much I like it and think it through. Then look at pricing to see if my love is strong then the price "shouldn't" matter as much. I don't mean money is no object but if I feel ill get a ton of wear out of it and am in love, that definitely helps. Stitch fix did a great job on yr box this time!
I love the coloured pants on you! you can easily wear them with most of your tshirts.. add a black blazer and boots..something like Docs for a bit more edgy look.. super cute! you can wear with them with a lot more than you think. I would definitely keep them. earrings are cute but they are a classic piece so I would invest in something like gold, gold plated or gold vermeil, rather than costume
Finally a V neck 💜 they're so hard to find in this day and age! Very flattering and fits your body better so you have flow, form, and it's elegant - oooh but it shows the shape of your bra cup which loses a lot of those "elegant" points. Hmmm
The wrap top looked great on you. On layering, you can wear a cami under it. Any color. One suggestion - if you match your cami color to those colored pants, it would look great!
Make sure the stripes match up. Check the thickness/warmth of fleece and sweaters by holding them up and seeing how much light comes through. Check the zippers, buttons AND buttonholes. Also the seams shouldn’t have huge lumps/bumps of thread - make sure they’re back stitched. Look at the linings & how it drapes inside of a garment. I’ve been sewing since I was 13/14. I’m a nightmare to shop with.
I mostly agree with you about everything. I think you should have paired the blue sweater with those red pants though. Also, I think turtlenecks just don't work for us ladies with shorter necks. If that dress didn't have the turtleneck, I think it would have been cuter...but yeah, no to the scratchiness.
I want to try one of these boxes - but I need to find one that can appropriately cater to my style preference. I wonder if any of them will accommodate "rainbow goth girl" as a fashion style? 😂
The wantable box: the red pants and the surplice top was perfect! I would put a different colored Cami underneath for a colorful offset. The earrings I would pass on there a little too ordinary. Stich fix: The boots are awesome, the checkered blouse, yes, that picture of you inserted to meet the President - hilarious!
I love the beige top! So pretty! You can always pin it in the front if you need to. I think that was the best thing in that box. The other box had a lot of great things to choose from. I agree with you regarding the dress. You look beautiful in it, but you can tell by your body language, that you don't feel comfortable in it. Thanks for another great video!! Have a merry Christmas!!
I love the cream sweater. I’ve never tried either one of these subscriptions. I’ve always been apprehensive and worried I will not like what I order. I prefer to buy my clothes in person.I did enjoy this video.
Thank you, I needed something to distract me from work today! 😁 I have become a thrifter in my old age (40's) and I think my fashion is the best it's ever been
I'm new to stitch fix just got my first box, I agree so far they do a better job at styling and picking pieces also I'm a #newsub, keep up the good 👍 reviews
Jen!! I thought that green sweater and red pants look amazing on you!!! Just not together! Lol a white shirt would look good with the red pants. The shirt you love is a win!
The $77 blue sweater was so cute!! Lol. But I agree, this stuff is ridiculously expensive! I shop at Nordstroms but ALWAYS only the sales! I could get like 12-15 items for $300!!
I enjoyed the little"high" of opening the box but I can't pay the prices when I have multiple TJ Maxx and consignment shops where I can find the same items for much less. Some of the quality was questionable particularly for the price. I have kept a couple tops that were unique enough and I think I have that brown sweater in burgundy! I also have more time to shop around than others as I don't have family to keep up with. I now keep on the lookout for family members clothing as they are in a tiny town and have limited time to shop when they make it to town.
Jen I'm loving the last top you tried on from the Wantable box and those earrings on you!! I'm glad u ended up liked the shirt after trying it on..I think it looks soook good on you!! 💞
I got probably 8 different stitch fix boxes. It was like a fashion rollercoaster! 🤣 A couple times I kept everything or almost everything. And sometimes it was truly like they didn’t listen LOL! But what got me was the terrible quality of some things. A suuuper cute plaid shirt after 5 washing ended up with a huge hole in the sleeve. My favorite (rather expensive) pair of jeans from them after 6 months of wear the zipper completely broke while I was at work work. Would not stay up and I had to rig it up while I ran out of the office to drive home and change. Some things are really cute. But the quality was just….not always there for the prices you pay.
If you have crappy fashion sense so do I because I agree with you on everything. Funny that right before you changed to the red pants I was like put on the red pants LOL I'm glad I watched this because now I know not to try EITHER service LOL that is way too high for me. I'm a Walmart & TJ Maxx kinda of clothing buyer. I just got those same style boots last week at TJ Maxx for $30. $70 for a flannel shirt I. CAN. NOT. LOL I "might" be more "Thred Up" ;)
I like the red pants maybe with a nice black and white band tee. Or a plain white chunky sweater. That would be nice 😇 merry Christmas to you and your family Jen 🎄
The shirt you’re keeping…if it’s riding up, add a hook from a hook-n-eye set and catch it to the waistband of your undies… I have to stitch the tongues to every pair of sneakers I buy because they all slide to the outer edges at the top of the sneaker. I’ve got ridiculously high arches and a raised bone (my 12 year old inner boy child is giggling) on the top of each foot.
The shoes are cute! The sweater jacket would work well with a button up shirt. I actually work in an office and bought 2 sweater dresses this year. The dress had too much fabric at the neck and was too fitted. The style now is to wear stuff oversized. Screw the skinny jeans. My thighs need to be free!
Looking forward to watching this. Alexandria Ryan does both styling services and Wantable frequeuntly seem to fail Alexandria. Not seasonally appropriate or age appropriate. It’s always very funny how badly wrong they get it.
I loved the same tops you did but to me you looked amazing in both the jeans and the red corduroys - however - if you don’t think you will ever wear them then it’s not worth it. The boots are super cute but I would do a price check as you can probably find the same ones online for a much better price. Happy holidays to you and your beautiful family. Looking forward to your first videos and Live Chat of 2023 🎉
Hi Jen, I feel that I don't know fashion but in truth you know what you like and don't like. We need to try the clothes before we rule them out. I do like your clothes that you picked out at the end with the boots 👢
Great try on video. The cream layering too and that jacket you are on the fence about might look really cute together. I liked the Stitch Fix told and those boots, a solid choice. Happy Holidays to you, John and your kids.
you're so cute asking if things match hahaha love it! love your picks, I think you're right, especially when you tried the red pants again to give them a real chance lol I like the Stitchfix jacket but you should love it for that price, in my opinion! Would look good with jeans and a T-shirt or a thiner sweater. Good luck!!
I loved the green sweater and red pants and they did pair well because they're in the idr the word but color tone, you looked good in colored pants for sure, to wear colored pants you can just wear a black shirt, the wrap shirt looked good with the red pants too! That color green and style looks really good on you but it's understandable if it's not comfy for you.
Speaking of car struggles lol, my truck didn't wanna start on a -20 day. I waited 3 hours for a company to come jump it. It died 20 minutes later. I call back and there would be a 7 hour wait til the next available person. Uff da

@@Randilynn66 had the same thought. I recognized Sonoma. It may should be 15 bucks.

I agree! I always say no cuffed shorts or pants and no cut offs..... my last fix the first thing I pulled out was cuffed pants. I'm done. This had happened so many times.
The red pants look great with the top. I love sweater dresses.
Those ‘Stitchfix’ boots are EVERYTHING! 😍💛 I would totally keep those.

Same, I like the red pants. ❤
Red pants with a graphic t and black or white sneakers or boots would be super cute but a little like funkier than jeans or sweats
I thought everything looked really cute from Stitch Fix! Even that "ugly" dress (which you could sell online). I've never had any luck with Wantable.

Like: the earrings.

Yes to the wrap top. Embrace colorful pants, Jen! Those red corduroy pants look great on you. I think you'll wear them more than you realize.
StitchFix for the win! I would keep everything but the dress. Everything looks great on you!

I really like these! Also, I’ll never stop enjoying your intro with the makeup/paint brush.
Hey Jen ~ I really liked the burgundy pants and tan deep vee top from wantable plus the gold earrings! That was a super adorable outfit!!!
As for the tops and shoes from stitch fix, I loved them all!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Jen I love your videos. And I always watch every single video you upload
Hi Jen, in regards to colored pants, I would say black and white tops always match with colored pants and different shades of whatever color the pants are. So if you’re wearing like dark green pants, maybe a lighter shade of green.
Wow I love all your picks from Stitch Fix! I would totally wear each of those items!
You look super cute in everything but I think it always comes down to what you feel comfortable in’ what you think you’ll wear. Good luck!
I'm a fan
Love the cream wrap top from Wantable. The red pants are flattering on you!! Looked great with the cream top.
Jen, you are not alone. I do not know how to layer to save my life!!
Those red pants are so cute. Would wear them with a solid black, white, or dark grey shirt. Just a plain Tee
Hmmm
The burgundy pants with the cream colored wrap top would be a super cute outfit.
I’d love to shop with you as someone who is completely clueless 🤣
I loved the cream sweater on you! I think it would look great with some black or brown pants. Please keep it!!!
I mostly agree with you about everything. I think you should have paired the blue sweater with those red pants though. Also, I think turtlenecks just don't work for us ladies with shorter necks. If that dress didn't have the turtleneck, I think it would have been cuter...but yeah, no to the scratchiness.
I am trying on my new nuuly clothes while watching this video, highly recommend!!!
I want to try one of these boxes - but I need to find one that can appropriately cater to my style preference. I wonder if any of them will accommodate "rainbow goth girl" as a fashion style? 😂
I was jus thinking about how I should start one for alt fashion 😂
The wantable box: the red pants and the surplice top was perfect! I would put a different colored Cami underneath for a colorful offset. The earrings I would pass on there a little too ordinary.
Stich fix: The boots are awesome, the checkered blouse, yes, that picture of you inserted to meet the President - hilarious!
I love everything you kept, however....I wish you kept the red pants!!! They looked so cute on you ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
I love the beige top!
The wrap top with the colored pants would look great together.
I love the cream sweater. I’ve never tried either one of these subscriptions. I’ve always been apprehensive and worried I will not like what I order. I prefer to buy my clothes in person.I did enjoy this video.
Thank you, I needed something to distract me from work today! 😁 I have become a thrifter in my old age (40's) and I think my fashion is the best it's ever been
Wantable - earrings only (eats up the styling fee and they're fine) Stitchfix - the plaid shirt, the brown sweater and those adorable boots
I love the tan sweater from wantable and the earrings. The boots from stitch fix are so cute!
Girl me to! Give me a blue Light special any day!
I think the grey sweater with the red pants would look really good!
Catching the replay! I love those jeans on you for sure! And the cross over shirt both from wantable!
I'm new to stitch fix just got my first box, I agree so far they do a better job at styling and picking pieces also I'm a #newsub, keep up the good 👍 reviews
I know this is late but just for future reference, those red pants looked SO CUTE on you.
I really like the red pants on you - looks like a great fit.
I loved everything you got from stitch fix except the dress. I have a similar letty & me cardigan. I love it.
Jen!! I thought that green sweater and red pants look amazing on you!!! Just not together! Lol a white shirt would look good with the red pants. The shirt you love is a win!
I like the grey jumper from wantable. I LOVE the boots from stitch fix.
I love the last ‘wantable’ shirt on you! It’s beautiful. It’s a great dress up shirt!
Jen I'm loving the last top you tried on from the Wantable box and those earrings on you!! I'm glad u ended up liked the shirt after trying it on..I think it looks soook good on you!! 💞
I loved the green sweater paired with the red pants! And the wrap top with the jeans is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ( and the red pants, I hope you kept them!)
The red pants & beige top looks good! I'm not a fan of corduroy in 2023, however back in the 80's cords happened 2B happening lol . . . Levi Cords 😉
The shirt you’re keeping…if it’s riding up, add a hook from a hook-n-eye set and catch it to the waistband of your undies…
I have to stitch the tongues to every pair of sneakers I buy because they all slide to the outer edges at the top of the sneaker.
My thighs need to be free!
i loved the top with the red pants!!! i definitely adore the boots!!! the jacket is soooo cute!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Goonies!!! 😍😁. Cream top is so cute 👍🏻
My damn kindle auto correct. Too should be top, told should be tops.
I like the wrap top with the red pants. Super cute
you're so cute asking if things match hahaha love it!
love your picks, I think you're right, especially when you tried the red pants again to give them a real chance lol
I like the Stitchfix jacket but you should love it for that price, in my opinion! Would look good with jeans and a T-shirt or a thiner sweater. Good luck!!
Lovein the shoes!! I LOVE wearing construction type boots!
Uff da
