When he's playing with ALW he doesn't seem to lack the drive/focus that he does in singles and mens. Of course when you're playing with the best woman in the world, by far, it's quite the luxury & there's not excuses. I don't think he relishes playing MLP either. It seems like he's often just going through the motions in team play. Other than mixed, he seems burned-out.
Hard to watch the John’s now, went from winning, making it look effortless, to loosing while giving no effort. Maybe they are trying to make a comeback storyline, stopped putting in the work and just aren’t honed in, it has me scratching my head how you fall from the top this hard and fast.
You just have to accept the fact that the sport is growing and the new upcoming tennis players are going to take over. Chris haworth who just won the previous ppa tournament took down Ben and fed. This is also just the beginning, I heard they're going internationally in 2025 so Ben won't be top 10 for long
@@Qpyx196xnI mean, a few losses here and there in the PPA doesn't mean their days are numbered. Ben is still productive in every bracket (men's doubles, mixed doubles, singles). He doesn't have to win EVERY tournament to still be number 1. I could see him starting to fall down the rankings in the coming years, but to say he's going to be out of the top ten by 2025 is a bad take. Ben is, unfortunately, chained to players from a bygone age. Irvine hasn't been elite for a while and Collin has been steadily losing relevance as a player as well. Provided Ben keeps playing singles to the level he has been, he keeps playing with good players like ALW, and Collin adapts; Ben is still going to be THE male player on tour for a few years at least
@@Qpyx196xn I am excited to see some more serious table tennis players get involved as the international scene picks up, so much to come for the sport in the future. I suspect the governing bodies will have to keep nerfing power to keep the game more strategic and not become small tennis.
Ben should rotate another player with Colin. Haden P would be 1 or 2 points a game upgrade. And it would give Colin some time to develop with other players.
That's just not true. They clearly don't like playing by the MLP rules. Ben is by all accounts still the best pickleball player of all time, it's just that the game has changed, and he's adapting.
It depends on the rules you are playing by. The way most people play, according to PPA rules, no it is definitely not legal and would need to hit at waist level or below.
Collin is trying to play so bad that not even a challenger team will pick him up, he hates MLP so much. Look for him to either retire or stop playing mixed in PPA soon too. He can't stay at the top without putting 100% into playing men's with Ben.
Kinda feel bad for the ladies on the Carolina team. The Johns look like they don't even wanna be there lol
They don't Lol
Nah Alshon and Duong been cooking them. They lost to them last time too

Always a pleasure watching QD
Ben, big "H" is waiting for your call. A liitle right side offence will lighten your load and continue your run at #1 run for several more years.

Really tough start for QD. Luckily, rough start for the John's also.
QD's serve is legal? I got called on my serves by local guys several times and serve is cleaner than QD's serve
Yeah it is, it's mentioned here too that MLP serve rule is different from PPA

Why don't you have the Sliders vs the 5's match uploaded?
Man I hate to see Ben looking so rough
Is there anyone who looks more miserable while playing than CJ?

Again, the commentators running their mouths and missing a great shot!
