when i found out about the snow white remake controversy i didn’t understand why people acted like rachel is the one making the movie, she’s simply playing the lead character, if they are mad about the plot and the general existence of the movie (trust me i also hate the girlbossification of disney and all the remakes too) complain about disney instead and don’t send her hate, it was only an interview.
yeah I feel like they misunderstand how much of what actors say on the red carpet is coming from them(about the productions they're in)
I don't even think this is new, look at how the Razzies nominate good performances in bad films for the 'worst' acting award. Actors are the face of a film, so met unnecessary backlash

The Barbenheimer moment reminded me of a similar event that happened in gaming circles back in 2020 with Animal Crossing New Horizons and Doom Eternal being released on the same day and how both fandoms were just vibin with each other. It was called Doom Crossing
when doja cat first blew up I was so impressed by her talent, her ability to perform, dance, sing all at the same time I was convinced we finally found our next Popstar but god has she become unlikeable, i really felt for her back when she used to go on live and complain about her long work hours and stupid sht she had to do only bc it was in her contract, I totally understand how all the pressure can break you eventually but THIS is not how you deal with it, her wearing the shirt was the last straw for me + her album sucked
I really didn't feel any way about her beef with fans, I just thought it was a little weird, but when I learned about who she dates and her chatroom stuff and now this shirt - I just really do not believe that allll of it is just "coincidences" or "trolling" at this point
Halle and Rachel!!! Disney keeps putting young women on the front lines and letting them take all the flack for their directing/scripting/casting choices. This is how Disney has been getting promo lately and it's so ... ridiculous that people are letting things like this piss them off. There is so much more to life like go touch grass, breathe air.

I've been noticing this and for whatever reason these actresses are not caring. Like girl if people don't like you in a role they won't like you period, and if the people don't like you, you won't be casted by directors as often...
Also they did this with the casting of Annabeth in the new Percy Jackson show. She a good actress but she's going to get hate because she Black, playing a white character. Which is weird concerning the author of the series writes all of his stories with diversity (race, skin tones, nationality ,lgbtq+, disabilities etc) in mind.

My issue with the Snow White remake is that, instead of taking the opportunity to make a positive representation of dwarfism, they just avoided the topic entirely and make CGI "magical creatures" that look... like uncanny caricatures of people with dwarfism. What's the message here, that they can't be shown on screen, that they are creatures that shouldn't exist in real life?

honestly I'm not knowledgeable about the people with dwarfism, so I don't have an opinion, but Disney has always been not so great at representation in general, and their business practices too...

It all started with my favourite anime : Ojamajo Doremi. All we had from the dub was (and still is) an old TVrip with mono sound because no DVD were ever made, so basically once the potato quality was unwatchable it became lost media. And today I'm proud to say that not only it is bluray quality with cleaned up sound (as much as I could...) but we also found the lost episode that was missing since 2008!

it's crazy to me that people are going after actors (aka people who just had to fight for pay and rights) instead of studios. Like Disney made Pirates of the Caribbean. They can do decent blockbusters. cmon now

You would think Rachel Zegler pissed on everyone's cereal and pushed their grandma down the stairs with all the hate she's gotten.
All she did was have a bad take about an 86-year-old movie. And the hate she got for the SAG-AFTRA strike comments is just idiotic. "She wants to be paid for every second she wears that dress?! And every time her movie plays?!?! Wow, so entitled!!" as if "wearing that dress" wasn't her job, and that movie wasn't her (and PLENTY of others') work. Everyone should compensated for every second they work, and every time that work is shown. That's one of the big things the strikes were about.
People were just mad that Snow White would be played by a Latina actress and latched on to the first "valid" reason they found to hate her.

Like girlie didn’t do ANYTHING wrong and she was getting harassed day in and day out for things she said like a year ago that made little to no traction or noise until certain people didn’t like what she said during the strikes and decided to dig up old clips to use as ammo against her. @@LisaFevralJust fyi as far as I know american football does not have a world cup, that’s a soccer (football) thing. The big event for the NFL is the super bowl, which is called that bc bowl games are a big deal in (american) football and the nfl game is like the biggest and most important- therefore super bowl. It would be insane if we called it a world cup though lol

The thing with Rachel is so wild to me, especially the fact that it has nothing to do with the comments she made. I personally do find those types comments and fake feminist takes on disney princesses annoying, but it's really not a big deal, people were just trying to find an excuse to hate on Rachel because they already hated her for being an outspoken poc woman playing a previously white princess and that makes misogynistic racist people mad.
I personally would like it if Snow White kept her romantic and delicate personality, and would really like a developed love story between her and the prince, and I don't like the constant girlbossification of female characters. With that being said, it has nothing to do with Rachel, if that truly was the issue they would be directing their anger at Disney and the whole weird "feminism" thing it has going on, because Rachel is just doing her part. But no, because that is not their problem, they just want an excuse to hate on her without confronting their racism and misogyny.
yeah, I'm more annoyed by shallow writing than characters being "girlbosses"(these phenomena are closely related though), and even if the writing is creating a shallow girl boss, it is still created by the writers/directors/and ESPECIALLY producers, not Rachel. So you are 100% right, they're just pissed that a young poc woman speaks her mind, and I can't stand that people are so quick to jump on that misogynist bandwagon, without even noticing that they allowed themselves to be so easily tricked into being hateful towards yet another woman

I have beef with JYP. I know JYPE idols and ex-idols like him coz they have a personal connection with him as like a dad figure. But me personally, I hate him. I don't watch kpop award shows anymore, so I'm shocked they let him sound like that on stage.
I avoided the Sunmi/JYP collab but she got so much hate for it (moreso from people hating him). She even posted about the hate, so I feel bad she saw the hate comments.
Okay but you’re 100% right about american football. I can’t name a single american football player and I live in a place that gets quite a lot of american immigrants and visitors. I’m assuming there’s like at least one called James or Chad or something but idk.
Ngl for years I thought it was just football but they wear pads. Before I found out it was serious I thought it was like a running joke in movies about how they have to wrap up their precious baby boys in bubble wrap before they’re allowed to play sport or something. Now all I know about american football is that a) it’s real and b) the pads actually lead to more injuries because the psychology of wearing them makes players feel more protected than they actually are. And one of my friends showed me how to hold and throw that kind of ball, it’s a little bit different to a rugby ball

I think it was spread awhile ago and is written as fact online in many sources so I thought it was true that the age gap is that huge! thankfully it isn't, it's supposedly 14 and 18 or something like that, which is not ideal but definitely better than the info I had

Just gonna add that the Snow White Prince being 31 is not a fact, it was made up from a webside and there's no back up evidence, there still a 4 years age gap between them, still bad, but is not as terrifying as 14 and 31. ModernGurlz made a video debunking this.
That definitely makes it better, not ideal of course, but still
+ the beginning scene with them interacting is made to stabilish that they have feelings for each other, and the kiss is supposed to just be a symbol of his affection(+the bitterness of them never being able to actually live their love, etc) . This means more than the original tale, where the prince IS just a rando that wanted to take a beautiful girl's body to the castle, but ended up saving her by dropping the casket by accident, making her spit out the apple. Despite the very real issue with consent, the "true loves kiss rule" kinda sets up that there can be no ill intention behind said kiss, and both characters must have a very deep connection beforehand. Only true love saves.

Nitpick, but the idea that Snow White was a child and the prince was an adult is actually a very modern, ragebait take. In all of the stories they're the same age, and in most of them they actually know eachother and are in love before the events of the story but don't acknowledge it because they're afraid. The kiss was originally framed more as them acknowledging the feelings that were already there, because the prince was pushed into a corner where it was like "Acknowledge your love for her or she basically dies," and for some reason the Disney version removed all of the exposition that made it make sense.

@@eyalshelly2682 people have been upset with her for years, primarily for her staunch support of the idf (after having served in it herself). her stance on the ceasefire is really nothing new and is a position she's held for a long time. people aren't happy that hollywood has given a platform to someone that unequivocally supports apartheid and the murder of civilians. i'm sure she's received some level of antisemitism, as it is a worldwide issue, but a vast majority of mainstream critique has been how she defends and justifies the atrocities committed by israel.

I always felt something was off with the hate on the Snow White actress, but you said it perfectly.
I also wanted add to the Rachel conversation as a black woman ( who’s also is a lesbian). Even if she fully thinks “ the princess needing to save by a prince” and “princess that don’t fight” are played out , I’m not surprised.
