    Just built it. Props to you, my man. Went together exactly as you said. Little tip, a new x-acto blade scores the board really easily. I’m looking into some in-line hose filters to hopefully extract some of the chemicals and such from the washed-out/draining emulsion. Then hopefully most of what will exit hose will be pretty safe for lawn/environment.

    so i ordered a $600 washout booth thinking it was free shipping and got a call from the company saying it would be a $450 shipping cost... i was able to cancel the order and i immediately started looking up diy methods and this is the first video that came up on google. Great job and i plan to pick up these pieces today. one critique... i think rather than making a ledge to rest the screen, i will saw the front side of the booth leaving about 6 inches in diameter to have an open space to scrub the bottom of the screens... outside of that this is one brilliant tutorial. thank you.

    I like all the ideas here. I am wondering if draining into a bucket underneath thru an aquarium filter would work out. Is the part to be concerned about the visible emulsion, or is there a chemical residue that taints the totality of the water to be concerned with?

    I'm building a washout booth at the moment too- great vid. I bought a plastic tub from ikea and I'm going to put a shower trap in the bottom of it to drain it. I'm not sure how successful it will be, but the boxes are cheap enough to try it.

    I ironically set out to do the same exact thing with a utility sink I found at OSH.... my gripe is that its not quite large enough to fit my screens so I have to place them diagonally and then wash out the bottom half, flip and repeat.... I opted to buy several 5 gallon buckets which I deliver to the waste management facility in my area (even though I wanted to just port it to the side of the house with a hose).

    • @StartScreenPrintingNowTV
      @StartScreenPrintingNowTV  7 лет назад

      +shonsteez yeah this size tub is good for 16x20 which is what comes in the DIY screen printing kit. I also have some custom size screens from gold up that fit nicely in mine too. But this same thing can be built with a larger size tub. Put a little shelf in it too. That has really helped me

    Very cool. I like the corrugated plastic backing. I've been using my laundry room and taping up/having my daughter hold up garbage bags. Needless to say I end up soaked and it's a pain.
    How do you use your wash out sink in your garage for light sensitive rinsing? I suppose you just run your hose under the garage door?

    • @StartScreenPrintingNowTV
      @StartScreenPrintingNowTV  8 лет назад

      Ha it sounds like you have a very patient daughter. Yeah I just lift up the garage door and close it down on the hose. A tiny bit of light seeps through but not a lot

      +Start Screen Printing Now I live in West Australia and I can't seem to find a nice cheap plastic utility. Annoying thing about living in Australia is it's hard to find somethings haha. Yeah I'm thinking about either saving for a flash unit I might have a crack at making my own one converting my pizza oven into a flash dryer. Taking out the element or something.

    I have a question regarding "dry times" for an emulsified screen in the garage... my concern is, in the winter where I live we have a lot of humidity, and since it's in the garage it's obviously going to be very similar in humidity levels... can a screen still dry ok in these conditions?? I'm using a dual cure diazo.

    • @StartScreenPrintingNowTV
      @StartScreenPrintingNowTV  7 лет назад

      Your best bet is to get a dehumidifier that you can use in an enclosed space with the screens. That should suck out most of the moisture in the air and help speed up drying times. At the very least you can use a small fan on them and that could help dry them out too.

  • @Drykan9
    @Drykan9 8 лет назад +2

    Great video! I'm curious about it being top heavy with a screen in it and spraying with water. Any concerns?

    • @StartScreenPrintingNowTV
      @StartScreenPrintingNowTV  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks +Drykan9 ! With a wood frame screen and a garden hose nozzle it hasn't wanted to want to tip over for me. If I was using aluminum screens and a pressure washer I would probably need to have the tub up against the wall. I have not tested it out that way though but I'll borrow some stuff and see what happens. Thanks again!
