    My mom use to fight (verbal, yelling) with our macaw and he would throw seeds at her
    And my dumb but is laughing because my mom is yelling at a bird that doesn't understand English

    I was wondering. Been starting target training with my Conure. At least it’s been helping that I’m able to gauge how hard she’ll nom the stick and reward for a more gentle beak. Kinda funny is sometimes she takes the stick right at the end and shakes up and down like shaking a toy/bell... so I’m not sure of the good or bad of that, at least she’s not biting it hard out of defence or annoyance any more. 😅

      @Dairy of a Goat-Lass it's a really short and clear video teaching. Perhaps it's more clear if one goes beyond "at least" & repeat viewing & listening Iknow sometimes it takes me a few times. Whatever we repeat with a pet ( a child or ourselves) we're ingraining as habit, especially if we reward. Just sayin'. Well being

    I'm having the hardest time getting one of my cockatiel to be ok with my hands. I tried holding him, being close to him etc while giving him treats but he freaks out.

      i adopted my boy and he was the same way, he HATED hands with a passion. what i did was start with my hand pretty far and reward when he didn’t really care and slowly work my way up to getting closer to him. if he runs away then i say just give it time, don’t chase him down. try multiple times a day everyday. when he bites i just put everything down and leave, he doesn’t bite like he used to anymore. once he’s more comfortable i started doing stepping up and flight and everything and he’s great!

    Whats the click sound for? When your about to feed bird, you click or click for reward of doing something correctly

    • @TinySwanGrandAdventures
      @TinySwanGrandAdventures Год назад

      It's a sound that something desirable or was requested was performed and the treat afterwards is positive reinforcement so that the bird or whatever animal you're clicker training knows that that sound equals a reward. Hope that answers your questions!💙

    I can’t get my cockatiel to take a treat of any kind

    • @Birdnerd1968
      @Birdnerd1968 Год назад

      It might take you a lot of trial and error to find a food that is high reward enough for him. Like with my cockatoo he ignored things that most birds really like, like seeds or nuts. We found out he goes crazy for unsalted crackers, so that's what we use. For my cockatiel it was buckwheat grain (it's a black triangle shaped seed). Good luck figuring it out, it can take a while sometimes.

    Any tips for a bird thay hates her cage. Its not all the time. It seems to be every 3 months or so she starts hating her cage and getting her to sleep is a challenge. Targeting her to it foesnt work and neither does picking her up with a perch. She wants to go into the other birds' cage for some reason
