9vgames.com HandlessGamer asked me to show off my Silent Hill collection, and here it is. Hope you like hearing me talk about SH for 12 minutes, because I could actually do it all day.
When I first played Homecoming I wasn't particularly satisfied with this experience. I expected more exploration in the streets, more psychological fear. It took me some time to understand its philosophy as a game and now I think that in what it does, it's actually pretty good. It's more action orientated, but at least the controls feel solid. The cut-scenes are great, the plot very well constructed, and the characters well developed. And it's depressing too, which is a plus.
Nice collection! I love Silent Hill 1 through 3 the most, by the original Team Silent. I didn't care for The Room so much (never finished it though, but I'm going to slap it in my Xbox next to give it another try, as I just finished the 1st three). I just played SH: 2, 1, then 3, one after the other (I played 3 after 1 because its the sequel). I *love* the original three by Team Silent. They have a certain "feel" to them that the others lack. Then I moved onto Origins on PSP, which was trying too much to be like the 1st SH, besides the annoying weapons breaking too easily thing. I gave up on Origins, then tried Homecoming. I didn't care for Homecoming at all. It seems way too "action" and much less "psychological" to me. The only one I didn't try yet is Downpour, which I do own, but after Homecoming disappointing me so much, I have my doubts about that one. But you said it has promise, so I'll try that soon. Like you said, after the newer ones (Homecoming) being so disappointing to me, I'll have to re-try "The Room" again. Maybe I'll like it more after seeing what the American devs did to the series. (The only game I don't have is the re-imagining, Shattered Memories). Truly, I think Konami needs to bring Team Silent back. Then again, if Hideo Kojima didn't leave Konami, I have a feeling that if anyone can bring Silent Hill back to its "feel," it'll be him and Guillermo del Toro with Silent Hills. I have a good feeling about that one ... that is, if Kojima didn't leave Konami like the rumors say.
FreeRPGer kojima is still at Konami so I hear, his contractual obligations have changed though. It a bunch of business jargon that I guess equates to everything from kojima pro was as ordered but now Konami owns them hence the kojima name being removed from the box as Konami now fully owns it

i started playing silent hill 2-3-4 again on pc in widescreen 1080p on my new 42'' TV. i would never thought that i would have such an amazing expirience 8-9 years after the first time i played them
I love SH games i have marathon run through each year, with minor glitchs love the HD collection. For nostalgic get the original games but for all of of the additions and trophy support go for HD brings me back to the days were id play Silent Hill 2, 3 times a day.

Yes you are right; something was missing. It puzzles me what might that be. It's lacking of that "special inspiration" that all SH games seem to have. Maybe the player couldn't be connected so well with Alex Sepherd. And the music wasn't so great this time.
Yea, that is a reasonable price. If you are not concerned about the case just grab one for 20 on amazon. You really should play the 1st game first. If you have a PS3 then DL it off the PSN for $10
Awesome Collection! The only silent hill I have at the moment is the "Silent Hill 4 : The Room" for the original Xbox. :P getting The HD collection & Downpour in a few hours so I'm dying for the stores to open. :P
oh god... ive been playing silent hill since i was 8 and i am such a fangirl for these games. i have all the games, one through downpour and i honestly cant get enough of them! (silent hill 2 is my fave too)
Content is the same, but there were some problems with the HD collection, ie, sound glitches, and the fog not being as thick and creepy in the orignals, problem wth the hd collectiion is that they made quiet a few unnecessary changes that can affect the games atmosphear, and they also removed alot of key segments that make the game more creepier.
I saw the movie 4 times in theaters, made everyone I know go see it and bought it twice over. I kinda like it lol. I think that even though it deviated from the original story, they captured the essence of the games without being corny.

because i wish i was at the launch for all the resident evil games but my ignorance of not knowing how good the game was didnt allow me to do such things not only that but also concidering im at a very young age im only 14 so re 1 came out 2 years before i was born its really not fair:/

You know i actually enjoyed homecoming. It kept the great atmosphere and the monster design was pretty good. Some decent bosses, the story isn't that great but man is it silent hill in terms of atmosphere. At least in my opinion, i tend to love anything silent hill haha even the first movie. Not the second though, wont speak about that.

i think people didnt like re5 for two reasons 1 wesker died yep people loved wesker reason 2 its the easiest re game there is you can basically get infinite ammo without even beating the game you can play levels over and over its very pathetic my favorite is re 3 because it still gives me a bit of a scare every now and then with nemisis when i completely dont expect him to come rape me;p but ya you talk about u being at the launch for everything it kinda makes me jealous
I actually ended up finding sh2 on ps2 (disc only) for 18.00 (no tax) at a flea market, it works btw. I also saw 3, but I did not have enough.

I haven't done one in awhile since no ps2 for "The Room" but when the movie came out we had an epic time 6 people all playing.

The movie was good. I feel bad for those who had to play the PS2 and PSP versions of SM tho lol, it was kinda pointless and lost half the fun.
