I met Somashekar sir while travelling from Bangalore to Mangalore. He was very kind and professional engrossed in his driving. When I asked him for a video during dinner break he readily agreed and we shot this video in the morning at Mulky parking. He spoke in detail about his experiences and mentioned about his life in VRL. He also told he is highly respected in DURGAMBA.

Nice person Mr. Somashekhar. Some drivers don't like the too much advantage like Volvo. Ashok Leyland is still predictable in terms of steering feedback etc, similar to drivers who like hydraulic steering compared to electronic steering. To each his own.

No u can ask any drivers majority of them says Ashok Leyland is very comfortable to drive in single axle buses category but whereas in multi axle they prefer scania. My dad ws in Vrl in early 90's even he prefers Ashok Leyland. The reason why Tamil Nadu state transport corporation doesn't have any premium services of Volvo or scania like our Ksrtc is because of less maintenance cost associated with Leyland vehicles so u can find TNSTC has majority Leyland fleets including premium services. it is said that the driver themselves can fix Leyland vehicles issues if it breakdowns in between.

@@joyfultraveler actually he worked for short term in travels in Vrl, Srs and Sharma. Currently he is an govt employee from past 25 years. After he met with an road accident 25 years back doctor advised him to stop driving heavy vehicles.
