- Check out the full course at www.knowledgec.... In the early days of IT up until the late 2000s, disaster planning didn’t really exist. There was no business continuity plan (BCP) in place either, from an IT perspective. Both plans are critical procedures designed to bring things back to normal in the event of a disaster and to remain resilient. Contingency planning and resilience comprise a planning methodology, such as crisis communication, critical infrastructure protection, and occupant emergency. Be prepared to get from disaster to continuity of operations very fast. The more detailed the plans are, the better it is. The number of systems you have in place, your risk assessment, continuity strategy, means of crisis communication, and responding to a cyber incident are all key components to consider in your business management procedures.
