    Hi, just wanna tell you I finished this pants today and so happy. Drafted the pattern according to your video myself. Rejected by first seamstress because it's not complete. Eventually it needs 3 seamstress to make it perfect but it's a perfect skirt pants now. Thank you for making this tutorial video. It's an interesting journey.

    I have been wanting to make myself a long pair of culottes pants. I like wearing long pants. However, as a woman I am expected to wear skirts at times. The right culottes could keep me happy and please those who want to see me in skirts. I had a pair of culottes in the 1970's that had pleats in them that hid the split between my legs. When I gained weight, I gave them away. I wish I had made a pattern from them first. Thank you.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 месяца назад +3

      ooooh, yes, I totally understand you! You can use this as a base and then incorporate the pleat, by using a slash&spread method to create it, I am sure you can do this and then you can make this any length. I like a design like this for a bold print, especially if you opt for no side seam - then you don't have to break up the print.

      Oh yes, you can do that here as well, just sew in a panel into the side seam and use a snap or a hook to keep it in place on the opposite side :)

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 месяца назад

      Janet, hello there, unfortunately I don't have anyone to draft it for or to model it after the garment is done. Without a model I can't see if the fit or the proportions are right, I can't suggest adjustments if those are needed... there are differences when drafting for plus-sizes, but you can for sure start out with the directions in this video. After all - you are working with your measurements and therefore your measurements will be reflected on the pattern and in the garment. In the FB group for Members we have many Members with different bodies, shapes and sizes and they have drafted bodice blocks with darts, and knit bodice blocks, pants, skirts and more. I would encourage you to start with a muslin, to see if the proportions and the fit is right for how you envision it to be, that's one of the reasons I do it - I am quite short, so the length is very important and a muck up allows me to see if it actually looks good in real life or just on the paper. I hope this helps!

    Hello,
    if i decide to make them longer (ankle length) i should just extend the length and keep the width the same, right?
    Thank you so much for this video and for the others!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes :) edited to add - when you make them full length - you will need to have quite a bit of fabric, for the muslin you can still do them short length, because you only need to double check the fit around the crotch, waist and side seam and for the actual garment you will do full length. The bigger is the angle of the circle the wider your culottes will be at the hem, especially if they are long.

      @ThoughtfulCreativity  2 месяца назад

      Hi, Giselle, I have multiple videos about drafting pants, including palazzo pants. You certainly can use this draft to make long version, but keep in mind that it will get more and more flared the longer the pants get and the crotch extension length here is for a culotte. You can take a look at my other pants/palazzp pants videos and compare and make a decision what better suits your needs.

      Gerrie, hello there, do you mean the mock-up or the actual garment? All is cotton, the grey mock up is suiting fabric (no fiber content known, but by the feel of it polyester or polyester mix).

    • @gerriebell2128
      @gerriebell2128 4 месяца назад

      @@ThoughtfulCreativity thank you for answering. In the thumbnail photo you are wearing flowered print culottes. Is that cotton? I’m wondering if cotton or rayon would work.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 месяца назад

      Yep, that is all cotton - the outer fabric and the lining for the daisy culottes. Rayon could work, but you have to think weather it will hold or not hold the shape, it is more drapey than cotton. Also think about is is too soft for a pair of pants/shorts? Here's Members Extra about 2 pairs of pants I made last year, same pattern but 2 different fabrics, one cotton and one rayon - you can see the difference in the flow and fit, I also talked about challenges and different sewing techniques that I used for one and the other - ruclips.net/video/aamD4MiAalM/видео.html

    7:25 Sorry if i missed it, but why was 5/8" added & subtracted on those lines? Was that a standard pattern making thing, just an example, or a "custom to you" amount?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  4 месяца назад

      You have more body in the back than in the front crotch, therefore back crotch is a bit longer and the front is shorter. You can always adjust it depending on your fit and preference.

      One way is to make a mock up and then see if you need any adjustments from there. These alterations at times are quite difficult to explain in a single comment, but what You can do is google "tummy alterations on pants/skirts" or similar and I bet you will find information regarding that.
