Still have the Winamp 5.0.9 on the archives somewhere in one of my HDD's with the settings until 2009 that when decided to go Aimp to finally stay on Foobar2000 till today. Winamp has a place in our hearts.
One of the very best things Winamp did right, compatibility. Despite 3.0 being a bit of a mess, Winamp started life on Windows 95 and DOS, despite that it still works flawlessly today nearly 30 years later. Sure it's had bug fixes and improvements over the years, but development stagnated around 15 years ago, with only one or two tiny improvements. Yet it still works across all version of windows. I think that's down to trying not to be all things to all people. They know it's an MP3 player and nothing more. So why make it bloated? I still use it on an almost daily basis. The MP3 changed the world, the internet and the music industry.
I used winamp too, after i chose instead aimp due it able to change the playback rate with the correct pitch, in that way you can set a personalised vaporwave or nightcore vibes.
Winamp is by far the best media player ever. if it only caught up with the times and allowed users to be able to play downloaded DRM files from spotify/apple music/etc it would be flawless. or hell even just be able to log in with your credentials to those streaming services and have access to your libraries and configure it all how you want. The issue with streaming services is they don't have the detailed configurations that winamp did. plus the queue and playlist system in winamp is by far the best. You can also customize the shuffle feature too. and play ANY sound file format which you can't do with the other players (looking retro console sound font files like nsf). add in the signal processing plugins you can use it is a very powerful piece of software. I mostly stream stuff now so i can support the artists i love. I do really miss how great winamp was for listening to music. also global hot keys were super powerful too! espeically if your play/pause keys were taken up by another app (say for a video - i like to multitask).
I was so upset when winamp became obsolete! I think I used it right up until windows 10 first came out! I ended up switching to iTunes because I got an iPhone in 2015 but hated it and still do. I switched to Foobar2000 this year because I got an audiophile DAC and power amp so have switched to FLAC and DSD formats. Loving Foobar2000 with the Eole skin and columnsUI.
Ah Yes WinAmp... it was my main Player since 2000 until 2015... when MusicBee came along. I still use it every now and then and i would totally switch back if it had all the Features MusicBee has.
this makes me wanna install winamp again, just for the custom skins and visualizers. edit: ok nevermind. i just looked up what the current version looks like xD
Hell yeah WinAmp is the hidden King of mp3 pc players Not even the present music players can match WinAmp The best thing needed at this time is an App exactly like WinAmp with upgrades like 432Hz options or Standards. Hurry tf up with this guys Spotify & all the rest em are ripping off the Artist big time.

I still use Winamp because of Milkdrop, for instant music video backgrounds. Obsolete? Hardly!
7:25 i might be overly nostalgic but i swear this is to me still THE COOLEST most futuristic interface for any program ever.

I still use it. Daily. It is still my main music player. Nothing else was ever as easy. (v2.91)
VLC has played every single audio and video format I've tried with it.
It’s still an active software product. Love it, use it every day.

Great video! Could you please make a video about history of Magix Samplitude/Sequoia?

musicbee isn't so bad for what you're looking for!
older versions are still available and working.
winamp graphic EQ forever goated
Just downloaded 5.9.1 for Android ...Still trying to find the visualizer, can't find it tho ,I fear it's not in the player anymore
I still use Reaper DAW to this day, the poor person's version of ProTools.
I think after all these years we call all agree: it did indeed whip that llama‘s ass 🦙
This was a good video, when we were finally forced to abandon WinAmp we were worse for it.
i still use it, winamp 5.666 i think? 2013 version
still winamp + soulseek + phone syncing for me. 1997 to infinity.
Everyone who „Collects“ mixtapes ans remixes should use SoulseekQT
The good days of desktop customization :)
winamp 3.x is still a great media player. daily music player.
Somewhat disappointed that there's no mention of WACUP, the continuation of WinAmp by (one of) the most prolific winamp plugin developers, Dr.O.
Hell yeah

I don't like modern bloated players. Why would i need a upload video to cloud feature in a music player?
winamp was my first DAW
It irritates me when people will say fuck but then self censor. If you're not man enough to stand by it, don't say it.
