@@Susanloveslife If you are under the assumption that I was questioning Katie, I was not. I certainly believe she was where she said. I have just vacationed many times in Destin, Panama City Beach and Navarre and never witnessed the waves so calm. They were virtually non-existent in the video. That’s all I was pointing out. I didn’t intend any other meaning. I hope she has the opportunity to spend time on the Gulf when the waves are more active. It’s more relaxing that way. I am personally more able to relax by hearing those types of waves. In this video, it sounded more like the small waves of a lake. She was speaking of her inability to relax.

Yes! The gulf coast is much calmer than the Atlantic. I used to live in Ft.Myers (2 hours south of where you’re at). Sanibel and captiva would have been beautiful for you to visit but since hurricane Ian last year, I’m sure it’s looking pretty rough.

If you need more Gulf beach ideas: North Beach at Ft DeSoto, Honeymoon Island, Anna Maria Island. That beach you were at did not have the beautiful white sand and you must experience that.

It's hard for me to relax but I do love the beach, when there I focus on the sound of the water and being comfortable, I have a great beach chair, snacks and a good book and just let myself gel

I can't sit still and relax ( all my pain comes on when I stop moving ) I got an old battery watch to look at the time so I'm not always looking at my phone it has helped a bit . Always have to check and make sure it's keeping time once a day at least

Katie, if you want "cooler" water, you should try the Atlantic side! the gulf side is always way warmer and the Atlantic side is always cooler, to me. New Smyrna or Ponce Inlet are AWESOME!!! Also, happy birthday!
I can't stand being on a beach. But, on the other hand, I know how to relax. Scrolling through the phone is quite relaxing to me. Also reading a book. Though I've seen the films, I've started reading The Count of Monte Cristo recently and it's just an incredible book, so wise and yet so interesting. I simply cannot just do nothing, but I'm relaxed anyway

You definitely need to checkout Sand Key Beach near Clearwater, FL. It’s not too far from you & it has pretty white sand & nice clear blue water! Also check out Fort Desota Beach State Park…. Pretty Beaches & neat looking Fort…. Also lots of great hiking spots!
I went here in my teens and loved it. It was our family’s favorite 😊

I’m glad to see you had a lovely day at the beach and going out with your roommate.😊 I was born and raised and currently live in Tokyo and I don’t know how to relax. It was a revelation when you said you have to practice to relax.😂

I live near Tampa and I love going to the beach. I have specific beaches i go to when I want to explore the waters and ones that i go to when I just want to lay out and soak up the sun.
I've never gone on a cruise, but, you might fare better on one Carnival, etc., because they keep you pretty busy, if you want to be, with tons of activities, besides the pools, etc. whatever.
Or you can just take it easy, too. I have some family that go on those here and there, and they seem to love it. I grew up on LI here too, was never a massive beach person,
but on occasion back in the 70s and 80s 90s I was. Would go with work mates, or my GF, now long lost, etc. LOL Jones Beach, Robert Moses. Lately I sometimes go down
to Long Beach to walk and relax, I find that pretty chill. Sit there for hours and listen to rock music on the headphones and phone. Or drive to Northport and sit there and
hang out near the marina and park. I used to go down to FL tons years ago when my grandparents were down in Silver Springs Shores, but we never knew from the beach,
given they were nowhere near one! Just lakes. We used to go boating with my granddad who had a good fishing cruiser on Lake Weir. That was fun.
Try the Banana Boat lip sunscreen. I live on the north gulf coast ..we have white sand and Crab Island in Destin..I live near Pensacola Beach...Emerald Coast is gorgeous

Small tip, if you are going to give yourself a time limit, instead of having to check your phone every few mins to see the time, just set a timer on your phone, this was when you get anxious about the time you can just tell your self your phone will let you know when the time is up
Sarasota Lido beach and Siesta key beach is super nice……..Ft. Desoto is unique.

If you think you'll do more beach, maybe buy an inexpensive beach umbrella, a fold up chair of some sort maybe and use a large cotton thin bedspread/wall hanging, I have a few from Indian shops. Nice to have more room to spread and keep the sand away and the umbrella to be a tad cooler and protect your skin, so very important. Interesting how beaches in FL are so waveless.. Nice to have beach not too far although no idea how far you have to drive. Happy Bday again! I know what you mean about the number thing, I have feelings about numbers too. :)

The prettier beaches are a little more North, St. Petersburg and Clearwater. I was born in Clearwater and was raised in North Alabama. I have retired to The beach at Gulf Shores, AL. These beaches on this side are the Gulf of Mexico and an more protected, therefore calmer. I am a beach person, not to lay out or play, I love to walk on the beach.

It's called hyper vigilance and I have the same issue... I was not like that years before. You and I have to trust that nothing bad is going to happen so no need to be that aware of everything going on around us
Yes! When I go to the theater, I have to be on the outside of the row and near an exit. When I go to a restaurant, I need to sit facing the door or I'm uncomfortable. Vigilance is so draining, I haven't felt relaxed since middle school.

The reason that I love the beach must be because I don’t have any problem relaxing 😊 I love the beaches up on the panhandle, the sand looks like sugar up there & I could spend hours walking on the beach, along the surf & laying on the beach! If fact, that would be the most ideal life for me.

..I tell you you need to go some of the springs...omg, the water so clear, blue so pretty...you will love it...they have different springs all over Florida...some have manatees, gators...but the water so blue...alot of springs are state parks...

I'm Christian just like you. Yesterday I got a new Bible. It's called The Rainbow Bible and certain parts of scripture are color coded and it came with a bookmark explaining what the different colors mean. I started reading it and I'm in love with it. It's good that you took time for yourself to relax

I feel you, girl. I turned 36 in July & Yup, it feels weird lol. I did NOT want to leave 35 (I was holding on for dear life😆); it was one of the best years of my life, and I’ll cherish it forever.
However, I am still extremely grateful & blessed to enjoy 36 with all the good there is to come.✨
Now, if only I could get my knees & back to pretend they’re 25 again, everything would be wonderful. 🥴🫠 Babies…I blame it on them! Lol
