When you played in front of so many people, you should feel like God of something and it should be hard to live like a normal person after that.
I think about this regularly
A prime example of this is Mick Jagger
This is breathtaking to watch 30 years later. So much energy in the crowd. Metallica at the absolute top of the world. Imagine 16 year old Kirk Hammett writing the creeping death riff and getting to play it over 1.6 million freshly liberated people chanting Die Die Die in unison. I was 10 when this took place and I wish I could have been in the crowd. I’m so very happy someone recorded this and shared it with the world. Amazing work, capturing unique time in history.
They weren’t liberated as of yet. However by this point they had much more freedom thanks to Gorbachev. The USSR didn’t collapse until a couple months after this, but this concert really showed the Russian people how good things were in the west.

I’ve read and heard a few times members of AC/DC saying this was their favorite concert ever. I knew the historical context but never SAW it until tonight. WOW. As much as I love AC/DC though, as a commenter below said, communism officially fell during the intro to Enter Sandman. As epic as I’ve ever seen. What a moment that must have been for all involved!
And also, not to get ageist or pick on other genres and artists, but there’s no way the Beatles, Stones, Taylor Swift, any rapper or any other groups could have exploded that place the way Metallica and AC/DC did. Right bands, right time in history. Perfection. We Salute You!
taylor swift sucks
Will Brogan full AC/DC m.ok.ru/video/220535722328
@@rocknrollcowboy1620 this is where a pop fan dummy would call you a simp. You're not, trust me :)
I love your comment and how maturely you have expressed your thoughts.
Thank you :)
It's because their songs can really make people fucking jump, they manage to involve people like no one else
This concert stills different. After all these years, it's the best concert of all times...
Argentina loves Pantera, Metallica & AC/DC. Argentina loves the rock and metal. Excellent show and bestial demostration of power!!!
I think this one of the best concerts ever!! and in Russia!!! the biggest insult to communism! hell yeah!!!
Petestroika was happening
Definitely the biggest fuck you to the communist regime of Russia. You can see the soldiers can't take control over the moshing, and fighting them back. Truly rebellious 🤘
The show was free :^)
It has nothing to do with insults to communism. It's rather opposite, insult to people thinking there are no such things in communism.
this was right after the Iron curtain fell
Every single band kicked ass. Just playing their version of rock n roll. That’s what it’s all about man.
After the millitionth viewing of this set. STILL NO ONE, NO ONE, NO ONE, has ever ripped a crowd like Pantera! All raise a glass in Respect!
Dime & Vinny 4eva...🥃
EVHMF🚬
Phils voice was on point. As was the rest of the band. They knew it was once in a lifetime set....
Wish i was born few years earlier to enjoy the era of the most glorious music ever,i was only 8 in 1991 and i discovered this music when i was 14. When everything was dead already. We will probably never see such great rock events, lucky who was there
This great rock show has to be rerecorded in HD for the future generations
Witness the power and positive energy of Metal. Literally breaking down social and political barriers at least temporarily! "We're taking over the entire country!"
It was so nice that The Black Crowes were put in the middle of the set. Everybody got chill, ssssssmokin' , and all smiles!
in my Opinion, every Song of every Band at this Day, ist the most Intense Live-Performance. You can really "hear" and feel the 500.000 People who are see something like this for the first time. Domination of Pantera, Harvester of Sorrow of Metallica... How can Metal be more Intense. For those about to Rock is the worthy Final of this unbelievable Concert. I wish i had been there.
Came here from Reddit they said it was 1.6m 😬
Thank god Ac/Dc found brian johnson,Bon scott was a legend, but brian was the messiah. (Born and bred Sydney aussie). I wish i was there, and those that doubt 1.6 million people there, open your eyes and see the truth., this was the biggest concert in the history of humanity

Mikhal Litvin
And they should, they were awesome with their music
Panterra did an amazing performance.
What interests me is the amount of police violence shown in this video. I think the police were terrified. They didn't know how to handle it. They had their batons out and they were beating people. In America, the cops would be calmly standing at the back smoking cigs and chilling.
I have nothing but respect for every fan who went there. I had never heard of this concert until today. Glorious.
Doraemon .,please help us to go back in the Metal years...back in the USSR...1989,1991....This concert is still in my mind and it would be in history of rock....4ever....RIP...Malcolm Young...still miss Chris Slade played drums for AC/DC those days...for those bands about to rock we salute you...!!!...never forget ....Dimebag...RIP....
@Raymond O'Connor He played drums with soul of AC/DC...he born to be AC/DC...still think of him.
This concert is nothing short of legendary!!! 28 years ago today this happened. Man i wish i was there from start to finish...
+++++ 😂😂😂
Pantera is massive and still to date so under appreciated. They are the greatest band the world will ever enjoy 🤘🤘
