    If I had the chance to go back in time to at any point for just one day in history this would be it right here, watching Metallica, Pantera and AC/DC playing is already perfect on its own but watching all three in their primes in an ocean of a crowd like this where everyone’s just losing their minds, I couldn’t imagine anything greater

      I was 28 and was there! But first bird was Peace music festival in Moscow, 89. Imagine Skid row, Cinderella, still my heart, Poison, Motley, Bob Jovi and of course Ozzy. Presenter said festival is organized against drugs and alcohol use. Axaxa, the guy who organized festival was cut with 550 pounds of Marijuana on his private plane. I was there and is unforgettable memory!

    This is breathtaking to watch 30 years later. So much energy in the crowd. Metallica at the absolute top of the world. Imagine 16 year old Kirk Hammett writing the creeping death riff and getting to play it over 1.6 million freshly liberated people chanting Die Die Die in unison. I was 10 when this took place and I wish I could have been in the crowd. I’m so very happy someone recorded this and shared it with the world. Amazing work, capturing unique time in history.

      They weren’t liberated as of yet. However by this point they had much more freedom thanks to Gorbachev. The USSR didn’t collapse until a couple months after this, but this concert really showed the Russian people how good things were in the west.

    Funny how the oldest band here, AC/DC, has outlasted so many bands much younger than them. This concert was almost 3 decades ago, and even back then AC/DC had already been around for a long time. But now, in the year 2020, they are "About To Rock" yet again with a brand new album. POWER UP!!!!

The biggest rock festival ever and it was free ... Right at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union , first taste of real freedom these people have seen .

    I got to see AC/DC three times over the years... First time with Bon Scott... the other two both with Brian Johnson but different drummers..... all three shows were long and worth every minute....
    Just a fun fact, the first concert cost $25 US dollars, the second was $75 US dollars, the third show was $125 US dollars....

      Fun fact about concert costs... I got to see Led Zeppelin Twice in the 70's. First concert $4.50 US..yes Four dollars and 50 cents in 1971. The Houses of the Holy tour cost $9 dollars and we were outraged at the cost increase. In mid 90's I saw Page and Plant it cost $155 dollars US for that concert.... today I just buy the DVD of concerts... Not all still pay to see Pearl Jam and Heart.

    I’ve read and heard a few times members of AC/DC saying this was their favorite concert ever. I knew the historical context but never SAW it until tonight. WOW. As much as I love AC/DC though, as a commenter below said, communism officially fell during the intro to Enter Sandman. As epic as I’ve ever seen. What a moment that must have been for all involved!
    And also, not to get ageist or pick on other genres and artists, but there’s no way the Beatles, Stones, Taylor Swift, any rapper or any other groups could have exploded that place the way Metallica and AC/DC did. Right bands, right time in history. Perfection. We Salute You!

    Wish i was born few years earlier to enjoy the era of the most glorious music ever,i was only 8 in 1991 and i discovered this music when i was 14. When everything was dead already. We will probably never see such great rock events,lucky who was there

    in my Opinion, every Song of every Band at this Day, ist the most Intense Live-Performance. You can really "hear" and feel the 500.000 People who are see something like this for the first time. Domination of Pantera, Harvester of Sorrow of Metallica... How can Metal be more Intense. For those about to Rock is the worthy Final of this unbelievable Concert. I wish i had been there.

    Thank god Ac/Dc found brian johnson,Bon scott was a legend, but brian was the messiah. (Born and bred Sydney aussie). I wish i was there, and those that doubt 1.6 million people there, open your eyes and see the truth., this was the biggest concert in the history of humanity

    Sound 500KWatt Звук был бомба. В грудь лупило пиздец. Со всего Союза народ приехал. С Сибири пацаны в палатках жили. Я увидел рекламу этого концерта был в шоке. Такой атмосферы больше нигде не было. Ментов было море, они и провацировали народ. В них бутылки стеклянные летели за это. Тогда вообще ощущение Свободы было. Сейчас проебано все опять.

      Через 15 лет после концерта на фирме охранник у меня работал. Оказался бывшим ментом, который был на этом концерте в первых рядах. сказал , что бутылки летели пустые из под водки, поэтому они были в касках. и сами они к финалу набухались сильно. от ас/ dc был в полном восторге

    Panterra did an amazing performance.
    What interests me is the amount of police violence shown in this video. I think the police were terrified. They didn't know how to handle it. They had their batons out and they were beating people. In America, the cops would be calmly standing at the back smoking cigs and chilling.

    Doraemon .,please help us to go back in the Metal years...back in the USSR...1989,1991....This concert is still in my mind and it would be in history of rock....4ever....RIP...Malcolm Young...still miss Chris Slade played drums for AC/DC those days...for those bands about to rock we salute you...!!!...never forget ....Dimebag...RIP....
