This guy used to be my neighbor. I've never listened to him until today, and wow! This is amazing.
CHANGED MY WAY OF PLAYING AND THINKING ..ONE C HARMONICA...tHANKS HOWARD YOU ARE AMAQZING1
Howard is easily one of the nicest people I've ever met, and that he's a master player just is icing on the cake. He's a mensch.
true innovator, fantastic musicality and expressivity. This guy is a genius and seems to be the coolest man on earth. The greatest artist that i've found on the web...david you rules !!!
Wow, such virtuosity. As primarily a blues harp player, this inspires and proves there's a lifetime of new techniques and musical theory to learn.
Unglaublich! Besser geht's nicht!
My first time hearing Howard play... I'm rushing to dig out all my old harmonicas now! Amazing!
My first time hearing his playing and it's terrific! He changes styles and tone color instantly. Very nice!
I don't think people realise what a virtuoso this guy is! Considering the limitations of a simple diatonic instrument...he manages to make it not just make it sit up and do tricks, but sing beautifully!
wow thats awesome, im no harmonica player, but i've never ever seen harmonica played this well in a jazz (possibly gypsy-jazz) style. Very cool
Howard Levy is a VIRTUOSO. He has expanded the repetoire and the range of the instrument.
The Segovia of the harmonica.
i liked the way he playd in that mug lol that was so cool. new fan
Well Howard here's one more to your fan club. Although not a "harp" player myself, it's obvious that there ain't much competition around so it seems that you're the King. Thanks for all that good stuff. Chromatically your's.
Yes, exactly. Regular diatonic harmonica with slight adjustment on reeds to increase their flexibility, but all technique.
grandissimo!
fantastic!
Yes! With the cup!
First time I saw Howard with the Flecktones, as if it wasn't enough that he could play chromatic on a diatonic harp, but to do it while playing piano at the same time without a harmonica rack, was amazing. Parlor tricks and virtuosity are one thing, but doing all that and remaining musical is a real feat. And he couldn't be a nicer guy.
The Lord of the Reeds !!
my favorite has to be at 4:57 when he does the traditional butterfield lick...except in FIRST POSITION. i am in love with this man
BRAVO!!
Amazing ! - I am a harp player myself and for years i thought nobody could ever match Little Walter ! - But with H L - L W certainly met his match ! - Tjek out my harp skills on : just your fool - Holy Ghost !
Actually Howard is playing with Fleck and crew:

there's no "he and his harmonica". its one piece! incredible!
I so wish that Howard would join back up with the Flecktones
If ever there were a harmonica player who could do Frank Zappa's music, it's this guy.
O melhor que já vi até hoje! São todas diatônicas?
Oh, my God!
Una bestia el Howard, toca bien piola. Qué se puede decir. ¡¿Qué?! Resta admirarlo, putearlo, aprender lo que se pueda mientras se le pueda seguir el ritmo.
I'd love to hear a duet between him and Stevie Wonder.
I love Toots, but I was never terribly fond of the "tinny" sound of his harp playing. Here is a guy that has the cojones of Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musselwhite and Jimmy Cotton, but plays lines as intricate as Toots. Unf***ingbelievably great player!
How do you mean?
how to play jazz on diatonic ???
This is jazz right?
Who's the guitarist?
3:50 - smokin'. 1. position blues should never be played any different than this.
I judged the International Harmonica Festival in Memphis back in the early 90's. Or maybe it was late 80s.
Howard told me how he does it. He cheats. *S*
ET !
